BioShock PS3 DLC priced at $10, detailed
2K Games today confirmed the November 20th release date of the PS3-exclusive BioShock "Challenge Rooms." The add-on content will be sold through PlayStation Store for $9.99 (in North America) and includes three, self-contained scenarios:
- A Shocking Turn of Events: A Little Sister is trapped atop a Ferris wheel. Players must create electricity to power the Ferris wheel and bring the Little Sister to safety.
- The I in Team: Using limited resources, and an even more limited arsenal, players must negotiate traps and find a way to defeat a Big Daddy.
- Worlds of Hurt: Players must battle through eight rooms of Big Daddies, Splicers and "the worst that Rapture has to offer." Accumulate Adam, build an arsenal of Plasmids, Tonics and Weaponry, and fight through to rescue the Little Sister.

That sounds really crap value.

Ferris Wheel Armor?
Trance Addix @ Nov 3rd 2008 1:48PM
LOL
NaeemTHM @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:09PM
They task you with saving a Little Sister from...a Ferris Wheel?! I would have been more interested if I had to save her from Ferris Bueller.
jorojoserojas @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:14PM
Gotta save something for BioShock 2, y'know...
Obie @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:55PM
Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
dark_inchworm @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:11PM
Ten bucks for this?
343 Guilty Fart @ Nov 3rd 2008 1:02PM
No kidding, I was under the (mistaken) impression that the PS3 version was getting this for free. At least the Worlds of Hurt one sounds fun.
rooshma @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:56PM
Hey don't feel too bad; I ended up paying $10 for an extra fricking box for Fable II.
Jakka @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:13PM
I'm not even gonna point out that Little Sisters are invincible to any damage, so she might've as well jumped off...
...and how the hell did she get up there in first place!?
NaeemTHM @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:17PM
What you talkin bout Jakka? You can kill them brah. Remember? They're hunted for their yummy jelly insides.
Deeznuts420 @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:18PM
"Come on Mr. Bubbles! Angels are waiting for our kisses!"

@ Naem
Nerd badge revoked!
Just because something is invincible to damage doesn't mean it cannot be destroyed.Yes, if you rip the slug out of their stomachs they'll be taken off "life-support" and die eventually.
However, if the Sea Slug is still there and ADAM is pumping through her blood NOTHING CAN KILL A LITTLE SISTER!
NaeemTHM @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:29PM
Damn I was owned. Well played sir.
Chin-Poh @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:18PM
Sounds like a plain waste of money to me. If I needed any replay value, just play it at a harder mode or this time harvest all the Little Sisters or save them all, depending on what you did last time.
ryan @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:21PM
Pretty sure this could've been included on the blu-ray edition. After a year, yeah, I'd expect something extra included on a deluxe edition and not have to pay ten bucks extra to make it deluxe.
Popfrogs @ Nov 3rd 2008 3:08PM
The simple fact that a year old port was full price was enough to turn me away. That put it dead square in rental territory for me.
Vidikron @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:21PM
Not sure about the ferris wheel mission, but the other two sound fun. I don't see how these three modes are worth $10 though.
Chase @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:22PM
Ha ha. Nice try, guys. It is no where near April 1st.
Jack Tretton @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:35PM
I thought the "challenge rooms" were included already in the PS3 version? I recall Xbox fanboys insisting 2K Games offer the rooms as DLC for the 360 so both versions were "the same game."
Bloo @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:53PM
Here's a shot of the Ferris Wheel level lol

Rentaro @ Nov 3rd 2008 3:19PM
That actually looks impressive compared to the claustrophobic nature of the game
Bloo @ Nov 3rd 2008 3:32PM
@Rentaro
You know the pic is a joke, right?
Courtney @ Nov 3rd 2008 1:06PM
Disappointing. I played it on 360 and had the new content been worthwhile, I would have considered picking it up to play again on the PS3 (after a price drop or used became affordable, of course).
The price of admission is not worth it though.
Petrae @ Nov 3rd 2008 1:45PM
Downloadable content for the win, right?
Of course, had this been last generation, we'd have had this on the disc already or it wouldn't have been included at all... but we're bound to keep being charged $60 for incomplete games and $10 more for each missing piece.
Latin Trident @ Nov 3rd 2008 1:45PM
Why don't the 360 owners (the people responsible for the major part of their success) get DLC? And if they do get it, why not making it free. Come on Kev!
Lavat @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:03PM
People forget that there are people who will buy this. And those people will have fun and then go dancing in the rain and then go off and buy more stuff....Because they questioned only if they could afford the value of a great game. Some are just to cheap to throw down 10 dollars to pass time in the miserable existence.
H Choi @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:19PM
I don't own a PS3, but that is absolute bullshit. If PS3 owners had to wait a year longer for the game, they should at least get the additional content for free.
jimmygotsmack @ Nov 3rd 2008 5:52PM
That should not cost 10 dollars..... What essentially comes 3 new maps. Two of each are just arena/gauntlet mode maps.
OldandJaded @ Nov 3rd 2008 8:48PM
Wait, didn't Joystiq just run a story last week or so when an exec from Sony stated that "nothing is exclusive" so according to Sony this is multiplatform of course.
Lekko @ Nov 3rd 2008 9:01PM
Sony really needs to learn how to use "exclusive DLC" in marketing.
You tell everyone about it before a launch that is simultaneous, so everyone who has a choice will buy your version instead. Then you can just not reveal whatever is actually exclusive until nobody cares anymore. You get more sales without actually doing anything aside from making vague promises to gamers. It also makes you look really really rich that you can afford such things for your gamers, and they +1 you for it even if said content is terrible.
sk8monroe81 @ Nov 3rd 2008 9:11PM
thats because sony fanboys believe what sony says.
thats why sony says....
they eat it up.... and forget about it when it doesnt happen later.
Lekko @ Nov 5th 2008 5:30AM
Actually... I was making fun of Microsoft's tactics.
You know, GTA4 and that awesome... whatever it is they might come out with someday.
forestofdeath @ Nov 4th 2008 9:36PM
i honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry at the fact that news containing bioshock is BORING me.
