BioShock PS3 DLC priced at $10, detailed

2K Games today confirmed the November 20th release date of the PS3-exclusive BioShock "Challenge Rooms." The add-on content will be sold through PlayStation Store for $9.99 (in North America) and includes three, self-contained scenarios:

A Shocking Turn of Events: A Little Sister is trapped atop a Ferris wheel. Players must create electricity to power the Ferris wheel and bring the Little Sister to safety.
The I in Team: Using limited resources, and an even more limited arsenal, players must negotiate traps and find a way to defeat a Big Daddy.
Worlds of Hurt: Players must battle through eight rooms of Big Daddies, Splicers and "the worst that Rapture has to offer." Accumulate Adam, build an arsenal of Plasmids, Tonics and Weaponry, and fight through to rescue the Little Sister.

While sparse, and seemingly devoid of any explicit narrative tie-ins, the content should provide some insight into 2K Marin's design prowess (plus, it's got Trophies). After wrapping up the PS3 port of the original and this modest expansion, the studio can now be found tinkering with the BioShock sequel. [Update: Wouldn't you know it, a 2K spokesperson just let us know that "the rooms were primarily created by 2K Boston." Looks like we'll be waiting for that sequel for any insight after all.]

Just because something is invincible to damage doesn't mean it cannot be destroyed.Yes, if you rip the slug out of their stomachs they'll be taken off "life-support" and die eventually.

Sounds like a plain waste of money to me. If I needed any replay value, just play it at a harder mode or this time harvest all the Little Sisters or save them all, depending on what you did last time.

Pretty sure this could've been included on the blu-ray edition. After a year, yeah, I'd expect something extra included on a deluxe edition and not have to pay ten bucks extra to make it deluxe.

The simple fact that a year old port was full price was enough to turn me away. That put it dead square in rental territory for me.

Not sure about the ferris wheel mission, but the other two sound fun. I don't see how these three modes are worth $10 though.

I thought the "challenge rooms" were included already in the PS3 version? I recall Xbox fanboys insisting 2K Games offer the rooms as DLC for the 360 so both versions were "the same game."

Disappointing. I played it on 360 and had the new content been worthwhile, I would have considered picking it up to play again on the PS3 (after a price drop or used became affordable, of course).

The price of admission is not worth it though.

Of course, had this been last generation, we'd have had this on the disc already or it wouldn't have been included at all... but we're bound to keep being charged $60 for incomplete games and $10 more for each missing piece.

People forget that there are people who will buy this. And those people will have fun and then go dancing in the rain and then go off and buy more stuff....Because they questioned only if they could afford the value of a great game. Some are just to cheap to throw down 10 dollars to pass time in the miserable existence.

That should not cost 10 dollars..... What essentially comes 3 new maps. Two of each are just arena/gauntlet mode maps.

Sony really needs to learn how to use "exclusive DLC" in marketing.

You tell everyone about it before a launch that is simultaneous, so everyone who has a choice will buy your version instead. Then you can just not reveal whatever is actually exclusive until nobody cares anymore. You get more sales without actually doing anything aside from making vague promises to gamers. It also makes you look really really rich that you can afford such things for your gamers, and they +1 you for it even if said content is terrible.
