EA: 'There will be a Mercenaries 3'

EA boss John Riccitielo is the latest company bigwig talking up more sequels, just as his publishing megalith struck gold with Dead Space, one of the best original titles it's had in years. This time it's Mercenaries, which Riccitielo confirmed will see a third installment developed by series creator Pandemic.
"There will be a Mercenaries 3," Riccitielo said during an investor call, adding, "and, if I have anything to do with it, there will be a Mercenaries 10." With nearly two million copies sold worldwide, a sequel to the open-world action game was a given ... but another seven beyond that? Mattias will be 'jacking other residents' wheelchairs at the mercenary retirement home by that point.

Well if it's absolutely NOT like the second one, I'm down with it.

I'm just saying, your own sister site posted this three days ago. I merely find it weird how little it seems that Joystiq talks to its sister sites, considering the constant discrepancy in when each site posts the same story.

A big difference. And sometimes Joystiq can be a week or two late posting a story one of their sister sites already did. One would think Joystiq and all its sister sites would get and post the news at or near the same time.

I preordered Mercs 2 because the first one was so fun. (Well, except the unbalanced final mission.)

glad to hear it, the first Mercenaries was one of my favorite games of all time, and the second one was pretty sweet too, but obviously could have benefited from some polishing. Hopefully with a third they'll fix the problems the second had and bring back some of the good stuff they took out from the first and hopefully more improvements as well.

If I recall, mercs 1 was created by lucasarts, pandemic jacked up 2. I couldn't play 2 for more than 15 minutes.
