It always throws me off too Seph X. I never played the first Gears (hey another Epic games shooter... woo?), but a friend of mine keeps bugging me to play it so I'm gonna have a sit down with it sometime soon. Anyways, long story short God of War is most prominent in my mind relating to the GoW acronym. Plus just saying "Gears" works well, where as just saying "God" does not.

When GoW (God of War) came out I was like "Finally, something to justify buying a PS2!". I think God of War 1 & 2 would have gotten more GOTY awards if they had come out near the end of the year.

Did Gears really sell more than GoW? That's surprising to me, though it is multiplatform... I suppose it shouldn't surprise me, since there's been a huge surge in shooters the last couple years for some reason.

Actually, this is a good problem to have, since the first year of the PS3 had NO good games except the original Resistance (technically, God of War II played on a PS3 was the best, but it's a PS2 game) -- it's good now to have several games that merit high scores, even if they aren't as good as their rating.

Reviewers will never rate a PS3 exclusive in the same category higher that a 360 exclusive. Even Little Big Planet and MGS4 didn't get better overall scores than Gears 2.

Gears 2 is a good action game but I really do not think it is 100/100 good across the board.

To me really good single player beats out multiplayer every time. That is why Resistance 2 is the better game to me.

I do not know what to say for Resistance 2. But I know it is not atheistically pleasing for myself...Killzone2 fits my fantasies and I think I will hold off on R2 and just wait for KZ2...

But do you know the difference between a pessimist and a optimist? The pessimist knows that things can not get worse the optimist knows it can. Reviews for R2 can not get worse then this. Can they?

I got the first game recently. I played it with my brother up to the point of entering the church (something happened to the save file when I tried updating the online segment of the game). I tried playing by myself and boy it felt rather boring to me. If there wasn't co-op I don't know what to do with the game. I'm certainly not eager to get the game started again but I will one day. I hope it gets better in the later levels.

I got the game because I thought R2 looked intriguing, and although I didn't really think much of the first game when it was released, I thought I'd try it now since it's cheaper. As it stands, I probably should have waited for the game to go down even lower in price. R2 better be far more engaging. R1's online mode is pretty "meh" too.
