Space Harrier flies into Virtual Console
Space Harrier (Sega Master System, 1 player, 500 Wii Points) is one of the last of a dying breed: Beloved classic action franchises that haven't been given a completely unnecessary modern remake (and no, we're not counting Planet Harriers). But the closest you're going to come, a Virtual Console release, will be available at noon EST today.
Buy it, not just because it's fun, but because when that unnecessary remake does come, you'll be able to say it's inferior to the original like a champ.

This game is only meant to be played in the original sit-down arcade cabinet. Anything less is an abomination.

Actually, Space Harrier was completely unnecessarily remade on PS2. Like most of the Sega Ages 2500 series, it was worth playing but by no means a replacement for the original.

I thought 'Space Harrier' is what happens when a female WOW player is too busy raiding to do anything else.

I love how it looks like the man is going to dunk a basketball into a tree while avoiding a block from a plane.

Perhaps you're thinking of Space Harrier II.
darkeyez @ Nov 3rd 2008 1:35PM
u might be right about that. my next question was if there was ever a Space Harrier 2.

I remember this game at the arcades quite fondly. My big bro was awesome at this. When he'd be playing a crowd would slowly form around him to watch. I miss arcades...
