We don't want you to be confused, so let's take this one step at a time. A "Golden Joystick" is an award handed out by the British public. This year's winners were revealed last Friday and Call of Duty 4 took top honors, winning "Ultimate Game of the Year", "Online Game of the Year" and "PC Game of the Year." A full list of winners can be found here.
A "Golden Joystiq" is what happens when Joystiq continues to punch stone columns and collect Spirit Balls even after it has gotten its beast form. We hope that clears things up.

Don't link to Altered Beast. If people are too ill-informed to get the reference, then they don't deserve it!

Speaking of Infiity Ward, I wonder if they've played the CoD: World at War Beta and what they think about it. IMO its just as good if not better than COD4, MP-wise of course. Hell, we're getting a 4-player online co-op campaign and a Co-op Zombie Horde mode! :)

You should totally name your GOTY Awards the "Golden Joystiq" just to confuse people.

Ha, 100% completion and I didn't even know there was music in GTA.

Plenty of games this year with a more interesting soundtrack than SSBB (at least in my opinion), and I think GTAIV is among them. Remembering that soundtrack doesn't necessarily just mean music, they're probably also thinking of the radio chatter, which I personally think added a lot to the game.

True, I did enjoy the talk stations and commercials.

SSBB should be a lock for soundtrack awards in most places, but the problem with that award is its very subjective. If you don't like Nintendo music, you won't like their soundtrack
Some 300 remixed, re-recorded, and in many cases fully orchestrated tracks are hard to ignore, pound for pound

It deserves it. The campaign was short but insanely fun, and I played the MP for months. Worth the price 100 times over.

I cannot believe the amount of awards this game has won. I, honest to God, have found no reason to back a single one of them up. The game's fun, sure, but in all the time I've played it I've rarely found a reason to justify the $60 price tag for the game.

Single-player for CoD4 was fantastic, but the multiplayer was completely subpar. I could think of other games that deserved GotY more than CoD4.

"PC Game of the Year"? It wasn't even the best PC shooter of 2007... Oh well, more useless awards.
