This just in: GI.biz reports that Fallout 3 is dominating the sales charts in the UK, landing at number one in overall sales for every platform. While actual sales numbers are not disclosed, GI reports that a full 55% percent of the copies sold were for the Xbox 360, with 28% and 17% going to the Playstation 3 and PC, respectively. Perhaps more interesting is that Fallout 3 sales have already eclipsed the combined sales numbers of the original Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout: Tactics and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. The game also managed to outdo week one sales numbers of Bethesda's own Elder Scrolls IV: Obliviion by 57%.

I hated Oblivion also. This is similar in a way , but it's different enough that I'm actually enjoying it.
It does suck that there are at least 4 more games I want to buy this month.

I would not say it's the same as Oblivion but it's like it's older brother. It even has the difficulty slider.
It's a little better but it's not that much better. Just my opinion...

I know I'm in the minority here, but I hated Fallout. The combat was just so infuriating-when someone is shot in the head FIVE TIMES and they don't die or let alone REACT to being shot, well the fun just goes away. This one went right back on Amazon within 2 days of purchase. Just not for me.

It shouldn't surprise you that the very people that brought you Oblivions crap hack n slash bore fest combat would find a way to butcher shooting people in the head.

That was something I thought was a little strange too. I mean, I guess it's just too easy to get a headshot with VATS.

I never played Oblivion so I had no reference on how Fallout was going to be. I do realize that a one hit kill headshot with the VATS system would be kinda broken but I would like the enemies to act like they've been shot. Outside of shooting someone in the arm (which they respond to like it's the most painful thing in the world) the enemies just don't react to getting shot. That takes you right out of the experience. And, I'm not going to suffer through a game that doesn't deliver on the experience, even if that does mean I "fail as a human being".

So far so good, almost exactly like Oblivion controls if you ever played that on the 360.

They even have remarkably similar sound effects. I find that kind of a perk.

Seems like I am in the minority: I loved Oblivion and I love Fallout 3. Best game I have played in a long time. I see it melting to my disk drive tray from tons of use. Well, maybe not if the HDD installs work well. Then just figuratively.

I am a fallout fan , I have Fallout 1,2 and tactics still (but very dusty) for PC , I got Fallout 3 for xbox and I love it, I'm going out on a limb here but I think this will be my #1 for 2008.
