lol...
socom is an online only ps3 game though... its supposed to have issues and problems. that's what we have come to realize with ps3 game releases. at least for a few days though.

this is an overhaul of the interface on the 360 and better not have many issues.

Just a note to everyone, when they say there won't be big updates, they are saying that they changed how their system runs. Instead of NXE being some big application that runs overtop the entire console, they changed it into an actual OS on the console. So each feature there is, is now actually an application, so the applications can be updated by themselves. This also means that applications can be very easily installed (netflix, avatars.) So the big fall spring updates will just be like service packs now.

You're right, I still have no idea what Syn was talking about. I don't see the connection between a game and a UI.

As for the joke, what joke? I'm calling you ignorant because like a 1/3rd of your posts in the last two weeks has been talking about how PS3 can't handle online functionality while ignoring the other 99% of the games with online features that work fine at release.

I'm not a fanboy, I just don't like hearing people spewing incorrect garbage.

Less plural please. The Dirtbox360 premium can only install one game in it's 13GB of free space.

Please feel free to interchange Dirtbox360 with PoorManBox360, SecondBestBox360, MakeDoBox360 or SendawayforrepairBox360 as appropiate.

@rooshma not a quiet as a PS3. Dream on for that one. The latest PS3's are totally silent, no fan noise, no drive noise. Even the latest 360's have really loud fans, and pretty loud DVD drives.

I'm not sure why I'm bothering to respond.. But the 360 is just as quiet as the PS3 is when games are installed, it's the disc reader that normally makes the 360 loud (although it's no where near as bad as some of you make out) and that's completely gone when games are installed.

And most game installs are only 4-5gb. Even with only a 20gb hard drive, you can get quite a few games on there at one time, and remember, they're optional, and you don't need to keep them installed when you're not playing them.

I tell you, there's nothing I like more than a quiet game system. Some times I just sit and listen.... its so zen. Doesn't matter if the PS3s library is super weak. Just listen to her purr.

Normally I don't bother to reply to people like you, but I'd like to point out a few things.
1) I have Fable II and Far Cry 2 installed and still have 1.1 gigs left.
2) Not all hard drives are 20 gigs, and though I know they're overpriced, the new 60 gig bundle is a bit better.
3) Yes, the PS3 is quiet, possibly quieter. However, it's a difference of 'really quiet' to 'really quiet +1'
4) My comment wasn't any sort of polemic against you, so please don't take it as such. If you like a particular console, go right ahead, do that, and don't ruin everyone else's day.

Why argue with Dig Dug. The guy's one of the more ignorant trolls to ever post here. All he does is spew hate for the 360 and make up facts to feel special. Don't worry DD, I'm sure your PS3 loves it when you hold in in fetal position every night and cry like a baby.

See this is cool. I like that now you'll be essentially able to download applications for your Xbox 360. Whats to stop them from striking a deal with Hulu and getting a hulu streaming application for the 360?

Yeah you can get TV show seasons via netflix, but I think it would be cool if later on down the road there could be a "hulu app" for the dashboard that would allow you to, well, watch hulu! Anything that you can access on the site could be accessed on the 360.

They ripped off achievements from the MS.

And Home is a 2nd Life ripoff which is boring as hell which makes it even a more ridiculous debacle...

If this were Sony we'd have had it delayed twelve times and the features they’d talked about would have gone missing entirely.

Seriously, unlike Sony, Microsoft hasn’t promised things it can’t deliver. The things that they cut are not things we knew about or were looking froward to.

Because Sony is still so far behind in the online game. These are features that Sony hasn't even mentioned yet. You can stick with Sony and Home for free, I'd rather pay $50 for a quality online experience.

Except for a couple minor things, most of the stuff they "cut" is really just stuff they dreamt up but never announced. The big stuff that they announced (installs, 8-person private chat, netflix, avatars, etc) is all still there.

The difference is that if this were Sony, THOSE are the things that would have been cut. The hyped up, already announced stuff.

It's just a matter of different business approaches. Sony related stuff generally gets announced WAY earlier, and as such, experiences more delays and more announced features being cut and/or lacking. MS waits to announce stuff much of the time (though not always).

Gears 2 is the 2nd biggest game to release on the 360, and it wasn't officially announced until, what, 5 or 6 months ago? Look at how early the major PS3 games get announced. Killzone 2 announced, and then re-announced before games that came out before it. Any guess on how long before we see God of War 3 or FF13, or FF13:Versus? We haven't even heard a peep about Mass Effect 2 yet, but I bet that game comes out before either of the three I just mentioned. Home was announced YEARS ago, NXE was announced MONTHS ago, yet NXE is coming out first.

It's not a bad thing, not a good thing, just two different approaches. If you look at each holiday release schedule for ANY year way ahead of time, Sony's lineup will always look better because they've announced there stuff earlier. As more time passes, the other guys start announcing their stuff, and it evens out or passes it.

We saw the same thing with Blu-ray vs. HD DVD. Blu-ray would announce their entire yearly lineup way in advance, and then delay/cancel stuff as they saw fit. Toshiba with HD DVD wouldn't announce stuff until a couple months before it came out, and saw less delays. But at the beginning of every year it was everyone freaking out "OMG look at all those blu-ray exclusives this year and HD DVD only has like 6 exclusives!!!". Then, as the year went on, it all balanced out.

@Vcize you seem like you are saying that NXE=Home.........Not The same thing..........as NXE is basically revamping the way the 360 looks and doesnt feature use of an avatar in a customizable location nor allow for said avatar to walk to a theater to watch/buy movies or(as of yet) play games with friends.......Home does all of that in the beta........

should Sony have held out on announcing Home until a few month b4 its release.......maybe.......but at least its coming soon

Snowblinds right. I would actually rather have the NXE over HOME. Reason? I bought the console for the games! Not for an application to walk around and do things OTHER than play the games on my 360. I realize you can launch a game from HOME, but the NXE isn't some app. It IS the dashboard, and I can do everything from the NXE.. IN a game. To me.. it just seems so much more proficient.

I didn't use the web broswer on the Dreamcast, I don't use it on the Wii and I don't use it on the PS3. Why waste time and space by adding one for the 360?

I'd prefer they continue to focus on features that actually benefit games and usability and not ones that are just added for the sake of being added.

well i have a 360 and i do my web browsing on the machine that was designed to do soo, with a keyboard and a mouse, not a sixaxis controller.

do you truly use the ps3 to do your web browsing, im asking because if you can afford a ps3 you obviously own a computer, so is ps3 having web browsing capabilities really important?
