Netflix streaming trials bundled with some games
It appears that Quantum of Solace for Xbox 360 is bundled with a 48-hour Netflix NXE trial, reports StreamingMedia. This is the first we've heard of this deal and with the NXE not being live yet (it'll cut you off from Live if you pirate it), redeeming the code now seems pointless. As we understand it, the game comes with a 48-hour Gold Live trial card, which has a separate code for Netflix included on the back.
Microsoft and Netflix are expected to promote the streaming service more in the coming months, so it wouldn't be surprising if these trials started showing up in other games to give people a taste of crack-flix.

thats a cool way to get people to buy a game that isnt as big as
all the other ones coming out.
Courtney @ Nov 5th 2008 3:50PM
Eh, 48 hours isn't worth the price of admission. I wouldn't mind if a card like that was included with a game I actually cared about.
sk8monroe81 @ Nov 5th 2008 4:39PM
i dont think many people will buy a game to get a free 48 hour netflix trial.
you can get a 1 month trial for what $ 5 on netflix.com
nobody bought halo 3 because it came with a free 48 hour xbox live subscription.
D dogg @ Nov 5th 2008 4:56PM
Fabian is correct and you other people are completely missing the point.
The price of admission? The price of admission is $60 for a game... and then a FREE trial of Netflix.
48 hours of free LIVE? You can get LIVE for less than the price of a game for a FULL YEAR. The point of including it with Halo 3 was so you could try Halo 3's online component out, NOT sell LIVE.
The point of the inclusion isn't to sell the game, it's a solicitation for Netflix... DUH!
jajaes @ Nov 5th 2008 3:50PM
i cant wait to try this. Heroes in HD! My HDTV can finally play video content it was meant to!
LeadBoxx @ Nov 5th 2008 3:56PM
Season 3 of Heroes has sucked balls!
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 3:58PM
people making such a BIG deal about Heroes on netflix but isnt it on Hulu for FREE??
Neuromancer @ Nov 5th 2008 4:06PM
Aggie I think there are commercials on Hulu plus it's not HD as far as I know.
Yeah Season 3 is pretty much jumping the shark, too bad because Season 1 was fantastic.
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:13PM
I thought it was basically streaming the HD from the NBC site......which would mean it would have commercials........
this season isnt that bad tho......already better than last season...
DigTheDoug @ Nov 5th 2008 4:28PM
NBC (along with all the other standard OTA channels) broadcasts in HD over the air, so you could be getting it now if you have an HDTV. You don't need to subscribe to any HD cable or anything you can get it straight out of the cable jack in the wall provided your HDTV has a HD Tuner, which it should if you bought it in the last 3-5 years.
KeenCommander @ Nov 5th 2008 4:31PM
Season 3 of Heroes > Season 1 of Heroes > Season 2 of Heroes. It's the best yet, I haven't a clue why people are hating on it...
Superstar90 @ Nov 5th 2008 5:02PM
Season 3 has been way to jumpy so far. Crazy random shit keeps happening. And does anyone ever die in this show!?
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Nov 5th 2008 5:11PM
@Keen
Lol what? This season of Heroes has been absolutely horrible. Let's see: You have characters acting out of character, too many characters, using the same damn plot device a third fucking time, Maya, Sylar becoming Peter's brother, both Peter and Claire have become annoying, and I can go on and on.
@Aggie.
Umm maybe it's because people don't want to stream shitty quality of episodes.
Rask @ Nov 5th 2008 3:53PM
Voltron??? IT HAS VOLTRON???
Damn Canada for not having access to Netflix! =(
FluxWaveZ @ Nov 5th 2008 4:01PM
Yeah, the thing is anyone outside of the U.S. can't use Netflix.
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:16PM
well damn that blows......thats no good to anyone outside the US......so the best feature from the NXE update is the Avatars at this moment(worldwide)
Snowblind @ Nov 5th 2008 5:01PM
It's also worth pointing out that this Hulu that you keep hyping up is also not available to most of us outside the US. Netflix at least will be, in time.
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 5:22PM
you mean ALL of netflix services or just the Streaming??
Vol @ Nov 5th 2008 8:24PM
Voltron is on the regular Live Marketplace too.
Rask @ Nov 5th 2008 8:41PM
Sadly, no TV shows on Live Marketplace outside the US either..
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 3:56PM
Good way to get people to sign-up for netflix.........BUT......I wonder if its like the STANDARD Netflix trial and requires you to have a Credit/debit card in order to sign-up for the trial
Michael @ Nov 5th 2008 4:00PM
then go get one, debit cards are free with bank accounts
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:14PM
I have one......but a debit card is connected to a CHECKING account.....not everyone has a checking account and some cant get one because they have a lack of credit or jacked up credit........
DiL @ Nov 5th 2008 4:20PM
@ aggie
if you cant get a basic checking account with a debit card than you probably have bigger problems than not getting netflix
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:37PM
@DiL
depending on the bank, if you have defaulted on a student loan for a few months(which is easy to do) you wont be able to get a checking account........shit even being late on a cell phone bill can fuck that up too.....
AoE @ Nov 5th 2008 4:55PM
@The Aggie CEO,
Debit cards can be tied to any bank account, not just checking. I've got one that's tied to both a checking and a savings account, and one at a credit union tied to savings only...
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:57PM
@AoE
so you can say......use the one thats ONLY attached to the savings as a Visa Check Card??
Michael @ Nov 5th 2008 5:40PM
@The Aggie CEO, do you need to be a douche, or are you just looking for a reason to complain, the point i was making was, if you really needed a Netflix account, then go setup a bank account, its free and you can start your trial, they request a credit card because they send you product, which they intend to be able to recover in case other douche bag people keep them...thats it.
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 7:42PM
@Michael
and all I'm saying is chances are there is a LARGER group of people that will not get any use at all from the Netflix Trials......I am not an invalid so I know the reason WHY they need a card number.....simply stating that Netflix will be useless to many people even with these trials......
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 5th 2008 4:21PM
Steve Carrels hairline looked wierd in that first season.
Jeffery @ Nov 5th 2008 4:31PM
I just noticed this as well. It is also on all of the new 360 holiday bundles and the Xbox Live membership's at Walmart.
Guibs @ Nov 5th 2008 4:32PM
I hate the Canadian CRTC with a passion. We don't get netflix nor do we get access to hulu.com . Someone needs to point me to a free and reliable US anon proxy...
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:45PM
you cant get to HULU!?!?!?!
Guibs @ Nov 5th 2008 4:47PM
Unfortunately, everytime we browse the website, we're welcome with a nice Screen saying hulu services are not currently available to us (canadian, etc) because of regulation and all that crap.
I can browse the website pass that warning, but I can't stream or watch any video at all...
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:56PM
damn that sucks.........
its plenty of proxy listing websites.......I use to use them at work......lol
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:36PM
depending on the bank, if you have defaulted on a student loan for a few months(which is easy to do) you wont be able to get a checking account........shit even being late on a cell phone bill can fuck that up too.....
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 5th 2008 4:45PM
damn I clicked reply to another comment and it ended up down here........raggedy ass comment system......
Vcize @ Nov 5th 2008 6:43PM
