New Games This Month: November 2008
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on our part, but November actually seems like it'll be a little bit easier on the pocket book than last month. Even if you count the biggies like Resistance 2 and EndWar that already hit us this week, it's still less taxing than October. Don't get the wrong impression though, your rent is still going to go unpaid for the second month in a row.
As always, we ask that you take a look through the list and let us know which of the releases you'll be picking up.
[Update: We've made a few additions, thanks to everyone for pointing out the MIA titles.]

Only thing missing from this list is the WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King.... not a console game, but certainly will sell the most copies of those listed so far :)
Dante G @ Nov 5th 2008 12:56PM
Indeed.
Dr.Nerd @ Nov 6th 2008 6:51PM
No way your a stupid WOW geek!
Ruxpin @ Nov 7th 2008 9:23AM
I admit, I have played WoW on and off over the past years... then again, it helps that it is one of the only games my wife will play :)
LeMuRfArT @ Nov 5th 2008 12:38PM
im broke, life sucks
Supino @ Nov 5th 2008 3:09PM
Yeah - not a good time to be broke.
This is one of the best game months I've ever seen, seriously.
Titanium_Orchid @ Nov 5th 2008 5:16PM
I don't think there is every a good time to be broke
Dr.Nerd @ Nov 5th 2008 10:26PM
Same here I really wan GOW2,Call of Duty 5,Nuts and bolts,End War, and the sonic game looks okay! Life SUCKS!!!!!!!
DrunkRaba @ Nov 6th 2008 7:49PM
same here, October was brutal, and I didn't get all I wanted from it. Always next year lol.
MC Double Def DP @ Nov 5th 2008 12:39PM
I'll be trying out all those, even DC vs MK for the lulz. Although im sure it will be terrible... like Shaq Fu terrible.
koehler83 @ Nov 5th 2008 12:41PM
You shouldnt slight Shaq Fu with a comparison like that. It's just not fair.
Delphine Software isnt around to defend itself.
Midway on the other hand, has no excuse.
Dirty @ Nov 5th 2008 1:22PM
I too feel like its going to be bad, but I cant resist playing it. Damn you Ed Boon.
Titanium_Orchid @ Nov 5th 2008 2:12PM
DC v MK is actually being very well received by the gaming industry press. One of the major changed being made is the removal of overly long combo button chains
kaneda @ Nov 5th 2008 3:17PM
I hear the press is also very receptive to the use of packing each shipment with cash moneys instead form peanuts.
Residentevil72501 @ Nov 5th 2008 12:43PM
Did anyone else think the Mirror's Edge demo was terrible, especially the combat?
shouryuuken @ Nov 5th 2008 1:02PM
no.
Jaclo @ Nov 5th 2008 12:49PM
I definitely have to disagree with you. I thought it was quite fun and a breath of fresh air. Based on the loading screens, it looks like the combat gets pretty crazy later.
I'll be picking up Mirror's Edge and Gears of War 2 this month. Maybe Banjo Kazooie on XBLA.
Obie @ Nov 5th 2008 12:51PM
It was like a first person Prince of Persia, maybe not a buy, but certainly a solid rental.
Poisoned Al @ Nov 5th 2008 1:36PM
Way to miss the point champ. Fighting is supposed to suck, as you are meant to avoid combat at all costs.
TheUsedVersion @ Nov 5th 2008 1:47PM
I thought it was the most refreshing demo I've played this entire generation thus far.
samfish @ Nov 5th 2008 2:02PM
"Fighting is supposed to suck, as you are meant to avoid combat at all costs."
That doesn't mean it should be horribly implemented, though.
Megadanxzero @ Nov 5th 2008 2:08PM
I don't see how the combat was bad. Press LB and RT to kill. Pretty simple really...
Vidikron @ Nov 5th 2008 2:28PM
"That doesn't mean it should be horribly implemented, though."
Interesting you should say that considering your position in our debates about survival horror controls.
Vcize @ Nov 5th 2008 3:04PM
Heh, I was just thinking the same thing Vid.
Mr Khan @ Nov 5th 2008 4:29PM
There is a difference between bad controls and restrictive controls, though
Think of Wrecking Crew. A game where Mario cannot jump. If he could jump, many of the puzzles would become brokenly easy. It is not bad controls, but restricted ones.
sk8monroe81 @ Nov 5th 2008 4:44PM
i did not enjoy the demo at all.
i couldnt understand why so many people enjoyed it...
1) gears 2 friday
2) resistance 2 after playing gears
Vidikron @ Nov 6th 2008 2:09AM
@Khan
You can believe that if want, but I still sya they're bad. I don't usually like where you can't jump, but I can put up with it if the game really doesn't need it (e.g. Dead Space). But the problem with your argument is that survival horror games like RE and SH will not be broken by having more FPS like controls. Plus, you're talking about Mario. He's more to the cartoon side of things. Game like RE and SH are supposed to have "real" people in them. So they should be able to move like real people... especially in the case of RE where the characters are trained spec-ops military. I think Dead Space is the perfect example of how things should be done. RE is outdated and has been for quite a few years.
Dr.Nerd @ Dec 1st 2008 11:33PM
No I just got motion sickness.
samfish @ Nov 5th 2008 12:45PM
Just Banjo and Sonic for me.
Might get Tomb Raider, although it'll be the Wii version, mostly because I want to pay as little as possible for it.
...I really don't like TR games, but it's a series that I just keep on buying and playing anyway, for some stupid reason.
Also, SPRay comes out this month. It looks very promising.
wiinterfang @ Nov 5th 2008 2:25PM
Well duh! everybody buys it to take a good look at that ASS.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ Nov 5th 2008 3:04PM
It's to bad you didn't learn your lesson from the last 10 sonic games.
Ironhammer @ Nov 5th 2008 12:47PM
I'm picking up Gears of War 2 only. That with Fallout 3 and Fable 2 should keep me entertained for months.
Obie @ Nov 5th 2008 12:49PM
Gears 2, Left 4 Dead for multiplayer goodness.
And Dead Space and Fallout 3 for single player fun.
After that I am pretty much broke, unless my family or friends decide to give me something.
Zertoss @ Nov 5th 2008 12:51PM
Banjo and Sonic are both preordered. I'm still undecided on Mirror's Edge and Tomb Raider. I think I'll hold off on them for a little while while I try to catch up on my long list of "Why the hell haven't I finished this yet?!" games.
Omega2k3 @ Nov 5th 2008 5:02PM
Ruined Franchise and Failure are both preordered. I'm still undecided on The Most Impressive Game I've Seen This Year and An Undeniably Terrible Game. I think I'll hold off on them for a little while while I try to catch up on my long list of "Why the hell am I playing these old games?!" games.
Fix'd.
Zertoss @ Nov 5th 2008 5:58PM
Wow, Omega. I like games that you don't and have a life that you don't. I guess that means you suck and are a failure.
Congrats.
wiinterfang @ Nov 5th 2008 12:53PM
I'm going to buy Sonic Unleashed and rent the rest, Now if Only I can buy a 360 this month.
Mr Khan @ Nov 5th 2008 12:57PM
Tales of Symphonia 2, also, though i don't quite know what to make of it
I could swear that Sonic Unleashed is November 18, not the 25th. It's Wiki page and IGN both say 18, and the official game page doesn't verify anything beyond holiday 08. Where'd you source that?
I wouldn't be making a big deal, but i have it preordered, and the 25th is the day i leave for home for Thanksgiving, so i'd have a really narrow window to pick it up
Shagittarius @ Nov 5th 2008 1:00PM
Sonic Unleashed is the 18th on Wii and the 25th on 360.
Zertoss @ Nov 5th 2008 1:01PM
According to Gamestop, the Wii version is out on the 18th, the 360 version hits on the 24th, and the PS3 version drops Dec. 12th.
Mr Khan @ Nov 5th 2008 1:04PM
ahh, nevermind, it's the Wii & PS2 versions that get released on November 18, the 360 version on the 25, the PS3 version on December 12
According to GameStop.com, though, take it for what you will
Mr Khan @ Nov 5th 2008 1:04PM
lol. Beat me to the punch
shouryuuken @ Nov 5th 2008 1:02PM
considering platform and fighting games are my two favorite existing genres and fpses are near the bottom, this month is actually far worse than last month for me.
im getting tomb raider*, banjo kazooie, sonic unleashed, mirrors edge, mk vs dcu*, and valkyria chronicles.
only game i bought last month was fable 2.
AwesomeTown @ Nov 5th 2008 1:02PM
Probably just Gears2 and L4D for me. But we will see where the month takes me. I'm intrigued by The Last Remnant and there's plenty of games I missed. Oh well, at least I got Fallout 3.
Konstantine @ Nov 5th 2008 1:04PM
Buying:
Gears 2
Mirror's Edge
Left 4 Dead
Sonic
COD 5 (After seeing Zombie mode)
Renting:
Last Remnant
Shaun White
MK vs DCU
Banjo N&B
There you go :D
umm....hello??? @ Nov 5th 2008 1:08PM
Resistance2 doesn't fall this month?? anyways, between that, GoW2, L4D, LBP, LastRemnant, I'll be set for the rest of this year and well into next...
Mirror's Edge demo was okay--need to spend more time with the controls....but will probably rent it along with Banjo...
Evan @ Nov 5th 2008 1:15PM
Sure, skip the PS3-exclusives: Resistance 2 and Valkyria Chronicles.
Steven M @ Nov 5th 2008 1:15PM
Gears 2, and Wrath of the Lich King (which isnt listed) for me, im gonna wait for the demo of Left 4 Dead to decide if i should get it....
Madeira @ Nov 5th 2008 1:16PM
Gears and Tomb Raider are must buys. I really dug Legend and Anniversary, and the demo for this one is even better.
Courtney @ Nov 5th 2008 1:18PM
Mirror's Edge, GoW2 and Left4Dead for me please!
