Red Alert 3 still coming to PS3, but not this year

Silverman assures that there are "definitely people working" on it (sea otters just weren't getting the job done) and that the PS3 version would benefit from the "the high-defness of Blu-Ray." Though his other comments seemed to imply a release as soon as December, EA confirmed to Eurogamer that there "are no plans for a PS3 release of Red Alert 3 anytime before Christmas." As for when exactly armchair generals can join Tim Curry, J.K. Simmons and the gang ... time will tell. Sooner or later, time will tell.

As much as I love my consoles, Im getting this on my PC. I just couldn't play CC3 on the xbox.
Jakka @ Nov 5th 2008 10:53AM
Exactly even with M/K support of PS3, what kind of a gamer would buy RA3 for it.
FFS, this game is one of the symbols of PC Elitism!
FAT MAN @ Nov 5th 2008 11:10AM
i would if i was in to RTS games, my computer would catch on fire if i tried to run any game made pass 2002 on it. There nothing wrong with buying a computer only genre for a console, i bought Sims 2 for the ps2 and it was great.
Dirty @ Nov 5th 2008 11:17AM
It makes sense if your computer isnt able to run a game. I prefer my consoles because of the stability of the games and being able to play them with all their glory, without having to turn down my textures, etc. But Ive been playing RTSs on my pc since warcraft and I cant convert.
Emophia @ Nov 5th 2008 11:25AM
Too right.
My friend is giving it to me on Thursday along with Fallout 3 (PC too of course)
Cannot wait.
Marty @ Nov 5th 2008 11:34AM
Giving it to you? That's some friend!
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Nov 5th 2008 11:38AM
I do agree that you're more likely to have a game running without issue on your console, but that's because the concessions have already been made to allow that game to run on it in the first place; there's always more potential for games on the PC.
As for for the 'PC elitism' charges I hear, they are fully fucking justified! The M&K support for the PS3 is interesting, but awkward; buying a mouse and a keyboard for, like, one game? (If it's compatable with USB ones then I apologise) Not to mention the fact that without a desk a M&K is very difficult to... accomodate.
Dirty @ Nov 5th 2008 12:04PM
They make concessions in the first place, but they also optimize as much as possible to push the hardware.
Jakka @ Nov 5th 2008 12:04PM
"As for for the 'PC elitism' charges I hear, they are fully fucking justified!"
It wasn't a "charge". RTS's and RA3 are a symbol of PC Gaming, period.

Some people might like to use a pad over keyboard and mouse for FPS games, but I dare even the biggest fanboy to claim they would rather play an RTS with a pad.
Makes me wonder why the consoles don't support mice. I mean you can plug a USB keyboard into this gen's machines, why not a standard mouse?

"Exactly even with M/K support of PS3, what kind of a gamer would buy RA3 for it."
What kind of gamer??? Duh you moron, the kind that only owns a Console... I own both, and I puchased CC:Red Alert3 on release day For the PC and this game utter SUCKs in the Series... Red Alert:2 yuris Revenge was Way Better.
But atleast EA Tried... 3.5 out of 5
I gave the Game away after owing it for only 1 week.
I guess For PS3 or Xbox owner who dont own a PC (very rare btw) yeah pick this game up, because their really aren't too many descent RTS for Next-Gen Consoles (except maybe for Halo wars ..fingers crossed).
dark_inchworm @ Nov 5th 2008 10:55AM
In Soviet Russia, PS3 comes to Red Alert 3.
After all, the processing power of the Cell would make for some nasty superweapons, right?
Jakka @ Nov 5th 2008 11:06AM
That sounds like a good set-up for a joke...
"So this PS3 comes to see Red Alert 3...."
Limezor @ Nov 5th 2008 10:58AM
I played the beta of this game, and to me it seems that it has just lost all of the class found in RA and RA2.
Mark C @ Nov 5th 2008 1:08PM
Completely agree. It just seems too over-the-top and cartoony compared to the previous RA games.
Not so much in the movies, as they were always campy, but the game itself...units, co-commanders, etc.
disclaimer: I haven't finished any of the campaigns.
Marty @ Nov 5th 2008 11:00AM
I picked this up for PC. RTS games on consoles just aren't much fun.
CaptNink @ Nov 5th 2008 11:01AM
The last line in the post filled my heart with delicious nostalgia. Thanks guys. :D
J.Goodwin @ Nov 5th 2008 11:15AM
Maybe it's time to give sea otters a crack at the PS3 hardware. People obviously can't get the job done properly. In fact, I suspect that the millions spent on Killzone 2 were in fact spent developing waterproof computers and teaching Sea Otters to type.

Don't give me false hope! Cute little sea otters....
borland502 (SDF Macross) @ Nov 5th 2008 11:32AM
I might consider a KB&M supported RA3 game on the PS3. Otherwise, even Civ Rev had to do weird gyrations to make RTS playable on a console. They did it well though.
hplcman @ Nov 5th 2008 11:40AM
The thing is the PS3 supports mouse/keyboard accessories. Why not make ALL games compatible with them? You always hear about better accuracy with FPS games or needing more inputs for RTS games and whatnot. Why not just include this functionality into all relevant games? I can't imagine it being to difficult a technical problem... But then again, I'm not a programmer so what do I know?
Stefan @ Nov 5th 2008 12:34PM
Well, at least it won't have Securom
Roddie @ Nov 5th 2008 2:08PM
I'll be tempted if they put in support for mouse and keyboard.
