Rock Band 2 bonus DLC rolling out over 24 hours

Did you find your redemption code on the back of the manual (hint: it's that wad of paper they include with video games)? Did you send off the relevant form and confirm your e-mail address? Well, then you should be receiving the download code for your 20 free Rock Band 2 tracks soon ... ish!

According to Harmonix, the codes will be rolled out over a period of 24 hours, a measure implemented due to the volume of numbers and letters that have to be squeezed through the company's e-pipe. E-mails to PlayStation 3 owners of the game will be sent "later in the week." Whether or not you actually have any, know that Harmonix preemptively appreciates your patience.

I agree!

I would download them only if you could disable certain songs from showing up in the mystery play lists. As it is I am tired of Still Alive showing up as much as it does when I play.

I know what you mean, but eh. It's content! I'll grab it at some point, surely there'll be a couple songs I end up liking.

I'm on the fence about these songs right now. I'll probably end up deleting them all anyways... and I'm running out of space on my HDD!

You could always DL all of them, try them out, and delete the ones you don't like off of your hard-drive. That way, they can't show up in random setlists. That's what I'm doing anyway.

Am I the only one who CAN'T WAIT till the rhythm/music game craze is over?

Probably. I don't see it as a problem even though I've kind of taken a break from them. It gets more and more people into video games, I'm taking Rock Band 2 up to my grand parents for Thanksgiving. Last year I took Rock Band 1 and everyone old and young got into that, my grandpa bought a 360 after as well as some other family members.

Thats about as stupid as saying "Man am I the only one that cant wait until this madden craze is over?"

Why hate on a certain genre? Cant we all just get along?

Oh, hey Wes, sorry for making such a stupid post. I must have forgotten that posting your opinion about something is the same as being a hater. I probably chose the wrong post to comment on, too.

I just don't like rhythm games. I guess I don't see any potential for my Nazi grandma to play them so I have no use for them. But yeah, the sooner that Madden craze ends the happier I'll be.

I know! Why do they always wait until the last moment before they say something is wrong? They did the same with Rush. How can you not know something is wrong until 5 hours before launch?

They should have sent the codes out early and not put the dlc up until yesterday so that everyone got them on time.

As usual, complaining about receiving something free is lame.

Its not free. I paid for over 100 songs on the RB2 soundtrack, as stated on the back of the box, so I paid for them. This also drives down the price for other songs but I paid for them still.

They always "wait until the last second" because "the last second" is when things typically go wrong.

I hate to put on the Expert Cap, but that's how it works in software developement. Crap comes up at the last second and screws everything over.

which removes any expectation of the 24 hour window. However this makes me much happier because now they telling us vaguely what the problem is.

Free is always appreciated, but I'm not going to fill up my hard drive (and random setlists for that matter) with songs I don't want.

I know it's lame to complain about free stuff, but if HMX makes an announcement saying the 20 songs would be out yesterday, they should have kept their word. Personally, me and my friends were looking forward tom 20 new songs to play, and it blew that the songs weren't out. It's also annoying that like the Rush DLC, they didn't announce it wouldn't make the date until AFTER it was supposed to be out. Would it kill them to give us a little heads-up? TL;DR- It sucks we didn't get the songs on time.

It's not enirely accurate to call the DLC "free" since it was advertised as part of the package when people bought the game. So as a selling point the cost is built into the price of the disc.

I was rocking earlier and I found the battle for 20 free songs, but NO FREAKING SONGS YET! Where the hell are they? By my count today is not the 4th. Freaking morons.

Does anyone know how to change the color of the overdrive like in that screen? I can't find any options to do it anywhere. I would assume it's when you customize your instrument like adding stickers, but I don't see anything.

That is a screen from a pre-release build that every site insists on using forever so you can't change the colour of your OD.

I think that's an old screenshot dude. I don't think you can change it.

So if I don't redeem my code, think HMX will give me some money back, ala folks who didn't agree to Windows XP/Vista licenses on new computers?

On another note, eBay already has AC/DC music sans the code for sale.

Anyone know if these codes are only for a limited time only? Or will this pack be redeemable indefinitely. I haven't bought RB2 yet, but plan on doing so this summer.

When you pop in Guitar Hero 1/2/3 or RB 1 (The bonus setlist is pretty much gone now), do you ignore the bonus setlist?

Think simply that these songs are just padded filler with no good content and bad? Or did you sit down, and have fun playing Push Push (Lady Lightning), All Of This, Arterial Black, and Get Ready 2 Rokk like the rest of us?

SO WHAT if you haven't heard of these bands. You got a setlist of 84 songs on the disk, and a nice bonus setlist of 20 more downloads. Will you like them? Who knows? If you are a Xbox 360 user, you can delete them from the hard drive. (However, the PS3 version is worse in terms of DLC deletion, sadily.)

I know seriously. I dislike evryone saying this and that about the songs, most likely without even listeing to any of them. Have you heard the BTBAM song? Yeah, probably not.

ah yes. BTBAM. :D That is the song I'm most excited for. I can't wait to play the others to see if I like them as well.
