Rumor: Resident Evil 5 dated for PC
MCV says that it has obtained a list of upcoming Capcom releases with a promising nugget for scare-prone PC gamers within. Alongside listings for 360 and PS3, a PC version of Resident Evil 5 is also present and accounted for, though no such announcement has been made by Capcom.
Our sister site Big Download did some Columbo-esque digging with the company, but got only a "we have not yet made any announcements about a PC version" for their efforts. Here's hoping we hear something more official soon.

God, let it happen.

If this rumor is true, then it's not a bad idea. As long as it doesn't end up like Resident Evil 4 for pc, I'll pick it over the ps3/360.
United States of Generica @ Nov 5th 2008 10:08AM
Higher resolution with more FPS :)
Let's hope so, keyboard and mouse support would be great too -- although I'm okay with the Xbox 360 controller support in Vista.
eldee @ Nov 5th 2008 1:27PM
you'd THINK so, but every other PC port of any RE game has been total shit. And I'm not even kidding. RE4 was the biggest letdown ever.. poor controls, NO MOUSE SUPPORT (WTF), low res textures, resolution was locked at something ridiculous like 800x600, and they used the pre-rendered cinematics from the PS2 version rather than in-game cutscenes from the GameCube version. Actually, they must have ported from the PS2 version since a lot of the improvements in the GC version were missing from the PC port.
bleh, I just hope they learned from their mistakes. a lot of really bad console to PC ports lately, but also a lot of really good ones (dead space is an example of how to do a PC port properly. mass effect is another).
United States of Generica @ Nov 5th 2008 3:41PM
eldee: that's why I was hoping so rather than thinking so. ;)
Foetoid @ Nov 5th 2008 6:52PM
Hey eldee, what improvements in the GC version did the PC miss out on. The GC version had less features and content than the Ps2 version, tho vastly better graphix.
That being said, playing this on either PC or 360, it's going to pale in comparison to the EXCELLENT job they did with the controls on the Wii edition of RE4. The controls upgrade alone is worth the purchase, nevermind the 480p 16:9 anamorphic widescreen.
Einhanderkiller @ Nov 5th 2008 7:08PM
Capcom is doing PC games in-house now instead of outsourcing them, and it seems to be working well. Devil May Cry 4 on the PC was fantastic.
Slayer @ Nov 5th 2008 7:53PM
@Einhanderkiller
Agreed man. Dmc4 on pc kicked ass. Worked perfectly on mine.
Heyyou27 @ Nov 5th 2008 9:27AM
I was having a hard enough time deciding between the 360 and PS3 version. Now it'll be ever harder... thanks Capcom.
SeriousKriss @ Nov 5th 2008 9:43AM
Not surprising, most of the RE series has been ported to the PC before, and it's even easier for Capcom now since their engine is multi-platform.
Kassu @ Nov 5th 2008 9:48AM
I really need to buy a gamepad, all these ports suck bawls with the board and mouse.
God damn.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Nov 5th 2008 10:07AM
Not all of them, but RE4 was pretty damn disappointing on the PC.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 5th 2008 9:57AM
Waaaah! Another lost exclusive! I'm starting a petition...ON THE INTERNET!
Sike. This news doesn't effect me in the least.
xGeneral DEATHx (Mr ESC Welcome Back Party Ultimate Mega Action Force) @ Nov 5th 2008 1:06PM
I can't believe you just took us back to the late 80's/early 90's with "sike". LOL.
gameplayFanBoy @ Nov 5th 2008 10:54AM
This will most definitely look better on my PC, but my consoles are hooked up to 5.1 surround which is important for survival horror games...I'm thinking console FTW, but its close.
Slaziman @ Nov 5th 2008 12:38PM
It's not impossible to hook up your PC to that 5.1 surround system you know?
Ridgecity @ Nov 5th 2008 2:45PM
most motherboards in the past 4 years support 5.1 sound. Look behind your pc and if you see a bunch of colored plugs, it works.
gameplayFanBoy @ Nov 5th 2008 5:19PM
Yeah, I used to have my PC hooked up to my living room 5.1 receiver\TV, but the KB\Mouse setup on the couch was awkward. I guess I just need 5.1 in my computer room...
Slaziman @ Nov 8th 2008 7:37AM
All GfW titles and some non-GfW titles support 360 controllers, no need to use the m&kb.
GMonkey @ Nov 5th 2008 11:21AM
Capcom announced sometime ago (and you reported it, I think) that all its games being developed now and in the future will get a PC release. Mostly because they are developing all their game on the PC first, and then porting them to each console.
Haggard @ Nov 5th 2008 11:41AM
knew it! a while ago they even said they were developing a sort of pc version and then porting that to the two consoles
CJLopez @ Nov 5th 2008 3:17PM
PS3 version
My PC is not all befed up to support this game on higher quality and my wallet will suffer way to much with the upcoming 5 months on Wii and PS3 releases to buy another video card (running on a geForce 7100 512)
Spike @ Nov 5th 2008 3:18PM
so it DOES pay to have a wii and pc for gaming, and not a PS3/360
Sidepocket @ Nov 7th 2008 9:24AM
Yes.
derek @ Nov 5th 2008 6:25PM
re4 on pc graphics were way crisper than on any of the consoles...you could actually make out the herbs clearly hidden in the grass. it did't support k/m but used typical gamepad perfectly.
my only complaint was it came out so damn late....
GFWFanboy @ Nov 19th 2008 10:50AM
At last! finally! Re5 for PC.. make it to Games for Windows with LIVE feature CAPCOM go for it!!
Hope Square-Enix will do thesame for FFXIII PC..
