A Kingdom for Keflings: First Xbox Avatar game on Nov. 19 with NXE
Microsoft is ushering in the New Xbox Experience with A Kingdom for Keflings, the first Xbox 360 title to feature playable, in-game Avatars -- as GIANTS, no less. Developed by NinjaBee, who teased the game in June, the city-building sim supports 4-player Xbox Live multiplayer and "works perfectly with Xbox Live Party" (we should hope so!). While you can carry and assign jobs to Keflings (uh, the game's tiny, humanoid slaves), we have yet to confirm the ability to use Keflings to poke out other Avatars' eyes. But what an experience that would be!
A Kingdom for Keflings can be yours -- and your Avatar's -- for 800
($10) when it hits Xbox Live Arcade on November 19th.

That screenshot scares me. Is this going to morph into a horror title?
Erwos @ Nov 6th 2008 1:00PM
I love NinjaBee, but skipped that last ant-related RTS game. I think I may get in on this one, though. :)

I'm actually interested in checking this one out. Avatars are a little creepy, but not any more than the original giants or whatever.
joeymoto @ Nov 6th 2008 1:13PM
Whaaaaaaaaa......????????
Looks...fun...even though it looks more like a casual gamers game on the Wii.
RiccochetJ @ Nov 6th 2008 1:14PM
I will only get this if I can eat the little people that anger me.
lee williamson @ Nov 6th 2008 1:17PM

Man the english language was already killed today in earlier posts. You didn't have to rape its rotting corpse.
Vol @ Nov 6th 2008 1:17PM
It seems they are knocking on Nintendo's door more and more with the casuals.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Nov 6th 2008 1:52PM
yea this seems like it has Nintendo written all over it. but im absolutely fine with MS (and Sony for that matter) having options for the casuals because they still lots for the hardcore as well. i doubt i'll play it but bring it on!
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Nov 6th 2008 1:53PM
dammit. "still offer more". fixed.
Deeznuts420 @ Nov 6th 2008 1:21PM
black and white 3 avatar edition?!
Steven @ Nov 6th 2008 1:27PM
I can already use avatars with Scene It! BOS.. though only the 6-7 premade ones right now :(
nick @ Nov 6th 2008 1:31PM
Yeah, I was going to mention Scene It Box Office Smash as well. It's already out and features Avatars.
gwangi @ Nov 6th 2008 1:33PM
It would be great if you could step on the small people in the village.
thesimplicity @ Nov 6th 2008 1:52PM
The line breaks over RSS feed get totally screwed up whenever Joystiq uses that MS Points symbol image in a post. FYI.

KEFLING FIGHT! !!!
Y'know ...
Like snowballs but... With little people!
Glee!
Xepherys @ Nov 6th 2008 2:20PM
I didn't know the NXE turned your 360 into a Wii. Hmmm...
I liked a Outpost Kaloki X, but this just looks sad.
Mr Khan @ Nov 6th 2008 2:31PM
Keflings? Are they the minions of Kefka?
Snowblind @ Nov 6th 2008 2:36PM
Don't see why people are calling this a Nintendo inspired game, it looks like Black & White, but with avatars instead of creatures.
Mr Khan @ Nov 6th 2008 2:46PM
Because people keep attributing everything on the Wii to Nintendo somehow
There are a number of Wii games that are starkly similar to this, but they're made by EA or published by XSeed
Okay, there is animal crossing, but MySims Kingdom and Little King's Story are much more similar.
Patrick @ Nov 6th 2008 3:33PM
I've been playing this on the Developer Network and it is really, oddly entertaining. There really isn't any conflict, no enemies to fight or time limits, it is all about just dealing with resources and your Keflings and trying to keep creating cool new buildings.
StrangeBum @ Nov 6th 2008 3:16PM
Ninjabee huh?
I liked Cloning Clyde quite a bit, highest "Obsession" ranking out of my friends. Outpost Kaloki X was pretty good too and so was Eets! for the computer. I'll give these guys another try once this launches too, actually looks like it could be kinda fun with friends.
TwEE @ Nov 6th 2008 3:26PM
Man these avatars are so damn ugly compared to miis.. looks like they just swiped them from EA's celebrity sports showdown..

Snowblind @ Nov 6th 2008 4:02PM
Avatars aren't anywhere near that detailed. They don't have proper facial features or anything, which is were the Mii comparasions keep coming from.
I happen to quite like them. They allow for more variety than the Mii's, without being ultra realistic like Sony's.
Chase @ Nov 6th 2008 3:32PM
So many tiny little Swedish maid hands. So little time.
Everyone on my town square!
danny. @ Nov 6th 2008 4:44PM
My Ted Danson avatar (to suit my gamertag) will be right at home then.

OMG...someone needs to get off the acid. This is what happens when you put avatars on your system.
Chase @ Nov 6th 2008 5:43PM
IDK my BFF, Jill?
Neuromancer @ Nov 6th 2008 8:31PM
This just came in on the latest OXM disk, it's pretty decent. Being able to use your own avatar is probably better than the pre-made guys they include.
