Dead Space, Mercenaries 2, now this. EA ads (and minus Mercs 2, games) have improved a lot. I'm loving their ads :)

Did you play the entire demo? Like after training with Celeste, there is the video and if you watch the whole way through, you get to do a more "real" mission. Did you play that? It wasnt wayyy too short for me, but i would have liked it to be longer.

Yes. We played the whole way through. You can also skip the training and go right to the "real" mission.
It was still too damn short. I was hoping to see some things that hadn't been shown in every single preview video, but no dice.

It makes me angry that playing the game for three seconds makes me want to vomit. It's probably a great game, but there is no way I could possibly beat it.
Someone needs to do a study on how someone that doesn't get motion sick, could get sick from a video game. More specifically, from one video game in 20 years.

You might have poor peripheral vision. When I'm playing Mirror's Edge I never look directly at what I'm doing, I focus on something stable in the distance and let my peripheral handle the rest. If I do I tend to get a headache because my eyes are straining trying to follow the fast action on screen.
For all intents and purposes ME is a FPS without a central focus on gun play. When you're playing a proper first person shooter you're constantly focusing on a target, a single point of interest, one which is usually not in quick movement (at least not on the same level as ME).
Of course it could not be this at all, but it's worth a try if you haven't experimented with it yet.

Getting motion sick sucks.
I don't get it any where else. Not Planes, boats, Trains/subways, cars (unless i'm trying to read or play a handheld).
The first time I noticed it started was WAY back when Ecco the Dolphin came out on DreamCast. I played for a week whilst wondering why I was puking for a week. then I finally connected the dots. Since then I noticed it's mostly 3rd person for me (Platformers and such) and some FPS like Quake and very slightly on GoW not on halo though. weird. Gears 2 last night started to make me sick but it went away after I sipped on some pepto. lol.
It is way worse when the camera has shitty controls or is really loose/swingy.
p.s.
Gears 2 is awesome.

Does Pepto really help? Maybe I'll chug some and load the demo back up. I'm playing on a 60" screen, from a few feet away, so focusing on the dot is almost impossible. There should be a way to make the darn thing bigger, or to turn off camera shake.
Oh and yeah, with the vomiting comes a splitting headache that only goes away after I stop playing. This is the first game to ever do this to me, and I have no idea why. Thanks for all the tips though.

Pepto helped that time... I also play on a ridiculously large tv (65") from about 9 or 10 feet away.
I used to take half of a dramamine before playing certain games. then i lost the bottle. :)

I think I found your problem.
I know what you're thinking, you've played lots of other games on the same setup with no problem. But seriously, for ME, try sitting at least 10 feet away.

I was blown away by the demo. I expected it to be an exxxtreeeeme mountain dew chugging parkour simulator, but found they made it all moody and sleek, with awesome music. Very excited about this now.

In the demo you can still fre roam even without a pre order code. There are two ways to do this.
1.) Time it so that after the initial jump (of the tutorial) press the slide (LT on the 360) button as soon as you jump and hold it till your slide stops. If you time it correctly then the vent pipe that goes red for you to slide under does not go red and you can now free roam and even walk right up to celeste without inititaing any cut scenes.
2.) This method is by far easier. When you are on the red board just prior to jumping across to celeste, instead of jumping to her, jump on to the white board below on your right. Then simply jump down on to the sloped surface below (doing a roll otherwise it won't work) then voila, free roam away. You I don't think you can go near celeste for fear of initiating the cut scene, but that's nothing, the whole of the tutorial level is your oyster. A good jump is the are behind celeste: jump all the way across on the right, on top of the yellow soft surface.
goodnight, I'm off to bed now.

Just letting everyone know, I was able to do this. I used the first method. It's easier if you jump at a slight angle instead of straight on.

For those who get motion sick, there's a wrist band you can buy for that. I saw it on Amazon.com. It's like $5 and is typically used by tourists for when they go on cruise vacations. I've never tried it but it should work.
It's weird that I get motion sick from maybe 20% of FPS games, but not this one, while other who never got motion sick from any FPS games, are getting sick from this. Weiiiird!

For those of you enjoying the music, you should head over to this Mirror's Edge website. To celebrate the game going gold EA released a free mp3 pack, and the music from this trailer is in it. Sweet.

I said in the "New Games This Month" post that I wasn't sure about this game and that I'd probably pick it up later.
Changed my mind. I'm definitely getting it, I just haven't decided on the platform. I'm leaning heavily towards the 360, though, mostly because I actually liked the way the demo controlled on it better.
I'm terrified of buying it for the PC. I don't need any new DRM rootkits making sure I don't kick any puppies or whatever it is they do.

Take X360 version - it is technically better, and "no DLC is exclusive forever" (Quote by Sony PR guy ;)
Mirros Edge has Anty-Aliansing on X360 and none on PS3 - jag-fest.

Not to mention slightly more of screen tear on PS3.

This does look like an really cool game but unfortunately I got sick playing the demo. Like the first guy said though, kudos to EA for following through on their talk about more original games.

I really liked the demo for Mirror's Edge. It reminded me of Splinter Cell: Double Agent's multiplayer...man I loved that game's multiplayer. Too bad it was overshadowed by many other games that came out around that time.
