As far as I'm concerned, Master System was defined by Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Wonder Boy 1, 2, and 3, Outrun, Hang-On, Shinobi (1 only, after that, junk), and Phantasy Star. A lot of junk on that list above, which is a shame, as the Master System was a good game system.

The reason there aren't any Master System games is because it's a Mega Drive collection.
I grew up with SMS, but never owned a Mega Drive, so some of these games are new to me, which is good.
and I wouldn't say Shinobi games were shit after the first, Shadow Dancer was one of my favorites, I think the series improved after the first.
Either way, this is very exciting news!

.... Are you serious? I thought to myself, "The games included will probably be crap." Then I looked at the list and my jaw dropped.

Sure I could get all these on an emulator ... but I'd like to reward Sega for offering such a friggin' sweet (!!!) collection.

Plus, a few of the games on this list have Sega CD versions with CD-quality soundtracks (namely the Ecco games, and then there's also Shining Force CD). I'd also love to see Flashback make a collection, since that's my all-time favorite Genesis game (and it has a CD version as well).

I would very much like to have the Phantasy Star CD based games. I mean the CD is like 100 megs, I'm sure they could fit it.

Not to mention, if they were putting Mega-CD versions on this compilation (unless if it was Sega first-party titles only, I suppose) - I'd want Snatcher!!!!

Hell yeah, I'll be getting that for sure, Notice how old old games still look awesome, I downloaded some ps1 games and was shocked at how bad the graphics were, I used to think they were awesome too.
Games are still good but the graphics are so bad it makes most of them unplayable. 8-32bit is awesome i cant stand blocky 3d graphics these days though.

YDL 6.0 runs at 720p natively (shows up as 720p on my projector) and I can make most games (depends on emulator) fullscreen and they look IMO phenominal due to the upscaling...and it's all free too so....

If they're updating it with 720p upscaling then couldn't they support the "T" word?

Completing each individual game should get you a trophy. That would be great fun, while for most of them anyway. Take a long time getting the Platinum.

How come no one is calling it the Genesis, thought thats it US name.

i have a xbox and a emulator that plays megadrive and snes games upscaled to 720p so i have no use for this, PLUS i have sonic mega collection plus on the ps2 and mega collection on the gamecube, i'm spoilt for choice, and i think this is sega's way to make more money off nogalstic old skool gamers imo, sega are always re releasing their old megadrive games on various consoles.

while those games rock i also wished they did this for saturn and dreamcast games, saturn had some awsome 2d games like guardian heroes and dreamcast had some awsome shmups.

they weren't made by sega but so weren't most of that list, at the very least they should give us stuff from mega cd and 32x sonic cd was awsome like some mentioned and very few people played it, it's considered by fans the best sonic game released,

Am I missing something? I have Sega Genesis Collection for the PSP, which already has most of those games. Maybe not all of them, but still.. Why would I want to buy this when there's already a Genesis Collection for PSP and PS2? Does Sega really think that we all love the Genesis that much?

Kind of underwhelming for me. I don't understand why Sega is hung up on the Genesis. You would think with the extra space on a blu-ray disc, Sega could put some good Sega CD games on there ( Ex: Eternal Champions CD, Sonic CD, Shining Force CD, etc.) For that matter, I would kill for a Saturn collection. Imagine all three parts of Shining Force III finally released in the U.S. plus Shinobi Legions and many others.
