With Microsoft content with rolling back its own prices – thankyouverymuch – it's up to super-retailer Walmart to do what Sony won't do this holiday season: cut prices on the PlayStation 3. Okay, fine, it's not so much a price cut as it is a value add. You'll still end up blowing $399 plus sales tax but you'll also get a $100 gift card, which you can immediately apply towards LittleBigPlanet ($60), just the single-player and co-op portions of Resistance 2 ($40, if only they made it a la carte), and a lifetime membership to PSN ($0).
Here's the catch: you've got to get out of bed early on Saturday morning to be in line before 8am. With the console not getting any cheaper, and this economy not getting any better, something tells us that "minimum 4 per store" isn't going to last very long.
[Thanks, aaron]

Yeah, but it's a Compaq man. Not even worth the trouble honestly, I've seen so many of those things just fail for no reason at all. Get an Asus Eee if you're looking for a cheapie notebook (or netbook)
As for the PS3...I think I still have my $10 giftcard I got for pre-ordering Brawl when they listed it for $30 or whatever. I could have $110 in giftcards with them...that's pretty sweet.

Already have an EEE for on the go stuff, looking for one to just keep around in the living room, since it's about time to finally replace my 7 year old X1000, which is also a Compaq, and one of the best laptops ever, and one of the first Centrino based laptops at the ridiculously low price (at the time) of $1k.

If your laptop is that old, chances are it was actually made when Compaq was Compaq, and not just the "cheapie" HP. Trust me, working at Best Buy selling PCs and laptops for two years - Compaq is utter garbage now. If you want to stay cheap, Toshiba makes decent machines cheap.

Hmmm, they usually do something like this before a change of some sort. New PS3 package with a game a-coming?
It should really be packed in with LittleBigPlanet anyway like the EU and AUS SKU's are.

I think there are going to be better than average deals out there this Black Friday, got to entice those scared consumers back out of their caves.
This is a pretty smoking deal though. Hope we see more soon, those of us still working have to take advantage of these things.

Wow... you guys *Americans* can get a 46" Sanyo 1080p for $798!?!?!
That means you buy the TV + PS3 = $1097 - $100= $997.99
You guys can get a brand new 46" TV and a PS3 for under a grand!!!
I paid $1k for my 42" 720p 6months ago!

Our 798 is worth the same as your 1k.
Actually I just made that up, I have no idea what the conversion rate is nowadays.... but its bad. (Not to mention I don't even know what to convert, as you haven't said where you live. Overall this post was pointless.)

$798 is a holiday sale. Usually cheap 46-47" LCDs go for around $1000-1200.

Damn, is that a good price for that TV?? I want it. Back a while ago when we got a 40" not-full-HD tv (720p?) it was like $800+.
And that's a damn fine price for a laptop, particularly if you have a nice computer already and just need something -portable- for work/school.
That does seem like a good PS3 deal, but I just bought one like last week so I could watch Iron Man.

wow! Limit 4 per store?! That's a legal lost leader if I've ever seen one. They've got a $100 wii for sale too. You just have to be there between 1:37.45 and 1:37.46 on October 11th 2011. Mark your calenders!!

I got my 80gb PS3 in..August or September and I traded in a bunch of old games I never play (plus they were adding some percentage on top if you traded in so many games). Only ended up costing me $105.

Doesn't the "minimum 4 per store" mean there will be at least 4 PS3s available on Saturday?

Am I the only one that's surprised to the see the PS2 STILL hasn't gone down in price? I bought mine a full year ago for $130 with a $30 giftcard...and it hasn't dropped a bit. Amazing.

That's because the PS2 has a good, less expensive library worth investing time into.

so can you buy the ps3 and get the giftcard and then return the unopened ps3 a few days later for your money back and keep the giftcard

But can you USE the 100$ off on the PS3 itself?
Actually, it doesn't matter because if I bought one I would use the card on a controller and a game.

I got this email about a special event at Best Buy on Sunday.. and I was hoping there would be a PS3 deal there so I can finally put down on one. (Through credit, obviously...) Hope it happens. I just bought my 50" TV and even though I enjoy my 360 and Wii, PS3 has a lot to offer me now.
