At least there won't be any "id hit that" posts on this one.

Funny. It's usually people like this who campaign against video games.

Are you saying that just because she's an older white woman?

She's spent most of her adult life working in entertainment media to expand the scope and appeal of television. She strikes me as exactly the kind of person to move on and find success in a new form of entertainment media.

I agree with pwnzer.

Although she is very accomplished in her field and have done a lot for women and the media. But in terms of being on a seat for the BoD of EA is just not a smart move. This company is geared towards games and entertainment, not lifetime movies or women tv series. Theyre both entertainment fields but each one has nothing to do with the other, as an advisor it wouldnt have been a bad idea to suggest ideas to EA.

But a seat on BoD?? EA what are you thinking....

That's a strange hire. I wonder if she has any familiarity with interactive entertainment. Old media people don't work out so well in this biz.

haha I'm sorry. By "old media" I meant non-interactive media such as TV, newspapers and movies.

That was not a comment on EA_Grandma's age.

Heck, even "new media" people can drop a spectacular turd on an E3 presser. Hi Cammy!

So what's next in the EA lineup?

Gramophone DJ?
Harp Hero?
Dr. Kawashima's Alzheimers Trainer for DS
MyCoffin

Yeah she's old and whatnot but I can't possibly see anything that she can do for gamers like me. Well maybe for the casual female player (unlike me). Or maybe she'll give the devs insights on what the WWII really looked like, she oughta know.

She did Nick at Nite? Ah man, anyone who gives me access to more Three's Company and The Cosby Show is good in my book.

Joke all you want, this lady clearly knows how to appeal to the demographic.

No big surprise. Women are the key consumer demographic these days even for businesses that never had anything to do with women.

Home Depot, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart (3 biggest retailers) are changing their stores to be more pleasing to women. Nike, Nascar.. Nintendo; you name it and they will be trying to get that almighty fem-dollar.

Wow, some of you guys really are clueless when it comes to the business world. Not to mention immature.

Contrary to what you likely learned in the movie Big, board rooms for companies the size of EA don't really need gaming nerds to tell them how to run their business or give them an idea for the next great game. They have development departments for that.

She has business acumen and a track record of expanding the customer base of niche market products. She isn't there to say "hey I think a new Barbie game is a great idea!"

Well that's wonderful. After all, Oxygen knows what kind of television women really want just like EA knows what kind of games women want.

In fact, Oxygen knows about the game industry too. Just look at the games on their website. Some sort of dressed up solitaire, some sort of dressed up flip and match game...what wonderful untapped ideas for the game industry!
