Ghostbusters officially going to Atari

When there's something strange in your neighborhood, your choice for who to call is clear. But the question after the Activision/Blizzard merger was where, exactly, you'd be able to find the Ghostbusters. Now, we finally have an answer: As was rumored by both Variety and Dan Aykroyd, Atari is ready to believe in the Ghostbusters (and, you know, publish their video game).

It's great news, but we're still left with the one big question on all thinking people's minds: As the other orphans are picked up, who will give Brütal Legend shelter from the storm? Is it you?

Maybe I'm just being thick... but are you guys serious about wanting Brutal Legend? It seems like it's riddled with SUCK.

Have you played Psychonauts and/or know who Tim Schafer is? If the answer is no, then we may not lynch you!

Can you please explain to me why it's more than a shitty game trying to capitalize on this "video game rock revolution" from the GH/RB franchises?

Yah Jakka, it seems the kid doesn't know anything about Tim Schafer.

reyes, Tim Schafer can make any theme feel fresh and original, just go and play Monkey Island series, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, and/or Psychonauts and you'll see why he is quite often praised.

I redact my previous comments. I was somehow oblivious to the fact that this is a Tim Schafer game. I'm more of an RPG than adventure fan, but my girlfriend still has fun playing Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle to this day. We've never tried Psychonauts or Grimm Fandango, but I guess we should give them a play.

This is old news you guys at joystiq even posted on this a few weeks back. You guys said Atari got this game and Riddick.

I still hope Atari will pick up Brutal Legend though.

I also think you have to say it is a Jack Black game so you get his fans to buy the game and Schafer's too.

They better do a good job on this one. It would be sacrilege to murder this classic film ip in the normal standard of game film tie-in crap. At least you can be certain that they won't have to fit in with film release dates, so if it's rubbish the devs will have no excuse.

I know I just contributed to the problem, but it's a testament to how much this game is anticipated, and how much hope the community has for it, that the comments for pretty much every post regarding the Ghostbusters game instantly devolves into people quoting the movie-- sometimes completely out of context-- and getting upvoted for it.

I also find it highly amusing that we only quoted the first movie.
