Lara Croft claims to be an archaeologist

The video we're referring to isn't embeddable, so we're afraid this is one of those old-fashioned, "go check out this thing on the internet" posts. The buxom thing in question is a deliciously awkward interview with official Lara Croft impersonator, Alison Carroll. Shortly after confirming that Lara Croft is indeed an archaeologist, the lithe leading lady flounders and grows visibly annoyed upon being asked, "When did they find the Tomb of Tutankhamun?"

Of course, rather than humor the interviewer (1922, by the way) and risk making a fictional video game character look bad, Ms. Carroll summons her caretaker to shut down the pesky journalist. Take that, question man!

Journalism nowadays is, as the saying goes, tragedy repeating as farce.

A couple guys catch Richard Nixon lying and now baloney like this is considered worth somebody's airtime. Congratulations, dude, you caught a actress in character who hasn't *actually* studied a broad range of archeological topics. Way to speak truth to power.

How can a video be "buxom"? Unless you're really referring to a woman as a "thing"?

That was pretty shitty journalism. Its not even the matter of the journalist being an ass - once she basically made it obvious that this whole 'question the pretend Lara Croft on archaeology' gig wasn't going to work, he should have had some sort of back-up material to rely on. The bigger crime was the fact that he was so terribly under-prepared for a change of circumstances.

Even if she HAD taken a degree in Archaeology, if she hadn't specifically focused on Egyptology as a specialty she STILL might not have known that Tutankhamen question.

After all, an Archaeologist is likely to know more about Tut when he was pharaoh, not about what happened when Lord Caernarvon dug him up.

Even a refresher course in Archaeology might not have covered this, and it was a bone move to expect her to know what. What she SHOULD have done is ask him a bunch of questions about the career of H. L. Mencken and Seymour Hersh.

The irony is, she is probably the best prepared Lara on many fronts (no punt intended) :)

She can actually do a lot of that gymnastic shit, albeit now while being chased by tigers and firing a pistol.
