MS aware of golden GoW2 Lancer download issues

We just received word from Gears of War 2 community manager SixOkay that Microsoft is aware of the problems some are having with downloading the Gears 2 Limited Edition exclusive golden Lancer and they're looking into a fix.

"I just wanted to send around a quick note to you all that we have indeed heard some reports from folks who are having troubles downloading the Golden Lancer. We are aware of the issue and looking into what might be causing the problem. Once I have more specific information I'll let you know what's happening."

We've been hearing reports from the X3F community that, when entered via Xbox Live, the the Gears 2 LE exclusive golden Lancer redemption code fails to download any content and instead displays an error message. We'll keep you updated when we hear more.

How do you set whether you want to use the gold weapons or not?

In the multiplayer settings, you can choose your favoured weopon.. between Lancer & Hammerburst. If you have a gold weopon downloaded/earned, it's an extra choice each.

so on the option default its lancer, press right for hammerburst, then again for a gold one, right again returns to lancer, unless you have a 2nd gold..

Just bought two copies at Circuit City on lunch break.

how about the golden hammerburst redemption code is that working or not.

Guys I just went out and purchased the LE and I can't seem to find the golden lancer redemption code?

Its on the Flashback Map card, peel the strip, you'll see 3 codes: Map, Lancer, 48hr code.

Also, seems like the Gold Lancer is now working...lots of users are reporting this on the Epic forums.

I dont care much for this but I buy used games often. Sometimes ill buy new games, sell them and then end up buying a game I once owned off ebay for cheap.
So for anyone who buys a used version of Gears 2 is screwed out of the Flashback Map Packs. I dont think it will curb used games sales if that's what they are hoping for. I guess it is their right to do it, but ill be the first to say I dont agree with it or like it.

I bought the limited edition and i didnt get gold lancer code.

I got my golden hammerburst but no lancer.

Mine worked good. My problem was that I bought from Best Buy (free tank, FTW) and the game disk was defective. I returned it and they said the first million or so were defective. New one is good though. Worth checking before you sit down after a long day to play only to find out you have to go back to the store to exchange for a non defective disk. FYI. No code problems. Oh, it did leave me with extra DL tokens for an extra Lancer and map pack. What should I do with it?

Also, can the golden hammerburst unlock in game somehow? I read that at one point and was curious how.

what do you mean defective? how did you know?

The disk had a physical dent like thing in it, on the downside. The actual plastic part of the disk had this small, indentation defect, about the size of a match stick. Does that make sense? I always check my disks before playing when I get a new game. It was clearly visible. Do a once over and if it looks good, good. If you see an obvious defect, exchange.

my map pack download doesnt work either :(

i had the issue. just went to account managment for past downloads and tried to dl again. took about 6 tries for the lancer to download before it worked.

Mine didnt work I hope to see a fix soon, kinda bumed. But the game is amazing!

I am so lucky. I preordered at Gamestop and got the Gold Hammerbust and NXE GOW2 Theme codes. Then bought my game at Best Buy and got the free Centaur Tank :). Then cancelled my Gamestop preorder :). I love smart shopping :).

I'll see your lucky and raise you a FREE tank. Pre-ordered at Amazon for Lancer and LE edition, went to last night's launch. Got LE edition, tank, 2 caps, 2 t-shirts, and hammerburst. After christmas, I'll take back on of the LE edition as a no receipt return. :D Almost tempted to go to CC and do the same thing for a free 1600 point card!

My stupid code for my Golden Lancer was BUNK!!!! I hope it will work when i get home.

Woot! A total of 17 times later I know have my golden lancer! Yay!

If anyone has an extra Golden Lancer or Gold Hammerbust and could spare it- that would be incredible awesome. I would forever be in your debt! :-)

I still cant download the golden lancer. I was able to download the map pack but I get an error every time I try to download the gun.

I am in the same situation golden hammerburst me one please and I you reserved a copy at gamestop do you get a golden code because I couldn't make the midnight launch

I cant get the multiplayer to work on GOW2... need help.....called microsoft and xbox ...no help there..been trying for 2 days...

I had issues with downloading my gold lancer; but about 14 hours after my first attempt I tried again (Manage Account > Download History > Gold Lancer > Download Again) and it worked just fine.

plz im begging anyone who has an extra lancer code can it get it i only got the got the midnight lanch one plz
