No button 360 controller mod
26
We've seen lots of controller mods around here. We've seen voice recognition controllers. We've seen controllers with hidden buttons. Until now though, we hadn't seen a controller with no buttons. Okay, technically it does have the start, back and Guide buttons, but just follow along, mkay? The mod you see above -- created by one Mactastic Mendez -- uses tiny digital joysticks located under the controller for face button input. How does all of work? It's quite simple really: magic. Well, that, a soldering iron, and some handy crafting skills. Check out a video of the controller in action after the break. Then head over to AcidMods to see how it was made.

I'll raise your -10 to a -1000
Really? Take the face sticks, put them in a stupid location, take the face buttons and stick them in a weird spot on the back of controler but, hey, leave the start, back and guide buttons on there!
/shakes head
This is why we don't have a cure for cancer XD

The change in stick placement is terrible, but outside of that it's a need concept.

You SURE there aren't any buttons on it? If it's like their last FPS controller, the face buttons are on the underside of the controller, do your fingers rest on them.
That way you never have to remove your thumbs from the sticks to melee, reload, etc.

If it's anything like the FPS Master controller you'd only use your middle and ring fingers.
I had mine adjusted for Halo 1,2 and pretty much every FPS that came out for xbox. It was weird at first but oh so comfortable on the thumbs.

I might be crazy, but I'm typically of the opinion that the sticks both sticks should be up high like the left vs. Dual Shock style down low. Seems like this woulda been a perfect opportunity to do that.

And pretty much every time you post it, no one really cares. They see it as spam.
Try your own personal blog to get the word out, or maybe use it when there is a topic on this site pertaining to fixing red lights.
Don't spam, it's more annoying than helpful on a site focused for sharing comments only.

Seems like this would also be very handy for games like Katamari Damacy, where using the analog sticks is an important part of the game.
However, I also agree that the sticks typically feel a bit more comfortable towards the top of the controller, but that may be different depending on the size of you hands?

That intro sucked. Also I don't see the functionality in using joysticks for the bottom versus buttons in their place...

It's definitely not something I would need, but it's an interesting idea. The process was cool to see. I didn't realize you could fill in holes in the controller shell like that.
I was looking around on that site and also saw that someone has modded NES and PS3 dpads to the 360 controller too. I wish I knew how to do that stuff.
