Rumor: Dead Rising 2 being developed by Blue Castle
According to an alleged source close to the developer, Canada-based Blue Castle Games is secretly (or not so secretly, if there's any truth to this) constructing the sequel to Capcom's mall zombie slaughterfest, Dead Rising. Speaking to the folks at Eurogamer -- they've covered console wars, you know -- the source claims that the Western team "can't wait to show off the game."
Blue Castle, more known for its work on ball-and-stick game The Bigs, currently lists an "unannounced Action title" on its website, designating it as an "amazing" project for multiple platforms. We have, of course, requested comment from both the developer and Capcom. Given how talkative companies usually are about unannounced and potentially nonexistent games, we fully expect to have a release date, screenshots and the inevitable cliffhanger ending before the afternoon's out.

Please change the save system. The original is so frustrating some times. And please no more Otis!
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ Nov 7th 2008 9:13AM
Hey Sheppy: http://gizmodo.com/5079375/how-many-games-each-console-sells
Xbox 360 still has the higher attach rate.

I don't understand all the hate for the save system. If you died, your stats just carried over and made you stronger for when you restarted.
As for the rumor, I hope it's true. Loved the first and have played it probably 8 times. I will agree with Smoke_Dawg that they need to make Otis STFU.
dark_inchworm @ Nov 7th 2008 9:32AM
Trying to start something with Sheppy?
More QQ... just what we need. :-/

The save system is great. It's just like any save-location system on hundreds of PC games. I LIKE that it doesn't autosave every 500m because I can fuck around a lot more, which is really necessary in the game.
JeffyP00 @ Nov 7th 2008 10:54AM
What's wrong with the save system?
Courtney @ Nov 7th 2008 11:23AM
Yep, save system never bugged me at all. I tended to only save at the beginning, and maybe midpoint, of any mission and rather enjoyed the challenge of trying to make it without a giant safety net under me.
Extinction @ Nov 7th 2008 11:39AM
Please DONT change the save system. I loved DR the way it was, not the way the crappy Wii version was gimped down. Part of the excitement came from having a sense of actual threat and the time limits.
Mr.Numeros @ Nov 7th 2008 12:14PM
When I heard they were making DR2 I told one of the dev's pals "Tell him to fix the save system." and he laughed and said, "That's what everyone says!"
I didn't mention the text for SD tv's though.
Dirty @ Nov 7th 2008 1:59PM
Back in my day we didnt have save games. We had 24 digit codes to write down.. and we didn't complain, and all our controllers had cords. Damn whippersnappers.
FSK405K @ Nov 7th 2008 9:32AM
I don't like new developers with no resumes. Is there anyone in charge there who has done a significant non-EA game?
tcc3 @ Nov 7th 2008 9:43AM
Lets hope for online co-op. That game cried out for co-op.
Zertoss @ Nov 7th 2008 9:56AM
Let's hope for local co-op too.
StrangeBum @ Nov 7th 2008 9:45AM
"Faaaaantastic 10-PP" tag is the shit Kietzmann, except it needs to be tagged onto future posts relating to Dead Rising now too so this isn't the only one that pops up.
I wish I could leave work and go play the original for the day. Nothing like some zombie slaughter to relieve some stress.
Steve @ Nov 7th 2008 10:55AM
Damn, please be true. One of the few recent games that I've gone back through and played again. So much fun. As long as the no name developers don't screw it up...
badbhoy @ Nov 7th 2008 10:57AM
I don't think it was the save system that was the problem but the time limit on certain tasks. For a game that lends itself to some mindless grinding, it was frustrating to have to run to the other side of the mall becasue it was getting close to 2PM or whatever.
Great game otherwise.
JeffyP00 @ Nov 7th 2008 11:12AM
I think the sense of urgency created by the time limits helps to make the game. Having unlimited or too much time to accomplish tasks removes any kind of challenge or incentive to play well.
Extinction @ Nov 7th 2008 11:40AM
I agree with jeffy. The time limit made it more exciting
Thief @ Nov 7th 2008 11:02AM
Last week I pissed off a Blue-Castle employee about Dead Rising 2. =)
Mr. Numeros @ Nov 7th 2008 12:17PM
Was it Brent? I pissed Brent off a few months ago about this game...
Thief @ Nov 7th 2008 7:53PM
I dont know his name, just heard he worked at Blue Castle, so I immediately jumped on him asking "OMGWTFLOL!!!11oneone R U m8king Ded Rsing Two?!11?!?"
He didn't seem happy with me.
Mr Numeros @ Nov 19th 2008 4:06PM
Super-old post reply:
I want to state clearly for the record I was bugging him about their next game and he refused to tell me what it was. He didn't tell me what they were making, only to 'shut up!'
In retrospect I realized much later that I must have been bugging him about this game.
Courtney @ Nov 7th 2008 11:25AM
This is one of the few games on the 360 I've gone back to several times to pursue some of the harder Achievements. Not because I'm huge on completing cheevos, but because they gave me new goals and an excuse to continue screwing around in the world.
Please do a good job.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Nov 7th 2008 11:35AM
Im nervous about it. Loved the first, but I dont want frank to run like a bigfoot, and camera could be better. Cant wait though, at worst it may just be good.
Chase @ Nov 7th 2008 11:51AM
Earth Defense Force 4034 to be developed by White Castle.
CJLopez @ Nov 7th 2008 12:56PM
if ya are gonna go multiplatform, please, 360 and PS3, i'm getting sick of the wimmers over the port for Wii of this game.
OMGOMG @ Nov 7th 2008 2:05PM
Blue Castle also did MLB 2K8.
Oh no.
Oh god no.
