DS Daily: Record Club Nintendo

If you were to replace that CD with 36 Chambers then you might hold my interest, but I really don't believe people are genuinely interested in this stuff. Nobody will sit down to listen to video game music, nobody. Not even the chirpy tunes of a Kirby; I say it's that chirpyiness, a curious Nintendo phenomena, that will make this CD unlistenable. This is just for the eBayers looking to make a fast buck.

Absolutes are awesome.

ol' bowser is a tad out of touch with the game community. people spend actual money to get game soundtracks, so I could definitely see them using stars to get their hands on 'em as well.

Video game music wouldn't be such a huge market if people didn't listen to it. =) Many fullsize console games have great soundtracks and, despite the 8-bitted-ness of them, there are plenty of excellent portable game soundtracks, too.

Golden Sun was one of the best, IMO. Not DS, I know, but proof that, even in the GBA stage, there was some great stuff.

Other DS greats include Hotel Dusk, Phoenix Wright, The World Ends With You and Electroplankton in which, of course, you create the soundtrack.

Music games like Elite Beat Agents and Taiko No Tatsujin are naturals for great soundtracks, obviously.

Also, most folks don't listen through headphones or plug the sound through better speakers to hear the full range of sounds included. The little 1 CM 'speakers' in the unit don't do the music justice.

DS games aside . . . half of the music I listen to at work IS game music: Zelda (64/GC/Wii), Resident Evil 4, Second Sight, Killer7, Grim Fandango, Tales of Symphonia, Zack and Wiki, Beyond Good and Evil, Morrowind/Oblivion, Ecco, Prince of Persia. Great stuff to zone out to.

It'd be nice. I won't die if we never get soundtrack CDs, though. I've been doing fine with the internet.

Soundtracks of games cost too much to import. I imported Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Super Music Collection and it was $25 c.c

Yeah, I listen to video game music out of context all the time. Such songs pervade my playlists and actually account for about half, if not more, of the total amount of music I have uploaded onto iTunes. Video game music recalls my childhood and can also prove to just be really awesome music. In some cases, imo, it surely beats the poodoo playin on the radio.

There are three DS games that I have a soundtrack for. The first two are the two Mega Man ZX titles. The first one is significantly better than the second. Then there's Layton.

I love video game music! I have half my ipod filled with it. In general I love instrumental pieces, so video game music is right up my alley. I've got a mixture of different FF songs, and I really love the battle themes. The EO remixes are REALLY nice. Xenosaga also has a lot of nice music. I also have Kingdom Hearts. Then I listen to TWENWY, FFTA2 and Advance Wars: DoR, just to mention a few DS titles, online =) And I also love background anime music (vocal less), the only exception being the .hack OST, the vocals in that one are beautiful (and in english!). (I'm going to have a total nerd moment and say my favourite anime composers are Kanno, Yoko & Kajiura, Yuki. I love everything they make! Kajiura actually has a lot of vocals in her songs, but they are so beautiful![she also did the .hack soundtrack ^^])
