I'm playing Saints Row 2, Far Cry 2, Little Big Planet, Valkyria Chronicles, Fallout 3 (PC) and Eternal Sonata (PS3) right now.

And I still signed up to this beta...

You seem to have missed the important part here... Free Realms is for PC AND PS3. Will this not be the first free to play microtransaction MMO for a console? That is huge imo.

This beta sign up is for the PC version but Free Realms is definitely coming to the PS3.

YES. I fucking LOVE Grey's Anatomy!

Now if only there could be an MMO for Grey's Anatomy, where I could cut open patients and have torrid doctor affairs all in one place! Finally, I could stop going back and forth between Jenna 3D and Trauma Center.

I am 23 years old and think the game looks fun. I like the idea of not being limited to tedious, monotonous combat every time I log in.

Who the fuck cares if they want to make the game kid friendly, it just shows you where they stand. You should respect that, instead of insulting it.

Because I find it far more irritating to play some mega violent video game with body parts flying around, gallons of blood on the walls (team fortress 2) and people expect me to behave in a child friendly manner.

Fuck that, if you want me to be child friendly in a video game, you should be a responsible parent and put them in a child friendly video game. In a game like FreeRealms or Wizard101, I respect their vision to maintain a child friendly game, and I even support it.

I used fuck twice. I didn't see anything where Joystiq says they want to be child friendly. As far as I know I'm perfectly allowed to use it on here, else they'd block it.

When I play a game that stands as a "Child Friendly" game, I respect it and support it by watching my language. I don't avoid or work around chat filters.

Even though it is a kid friendly game, chances are the kids you're most likely to run into are much more foul-mouthed.

You are absolutely 100% correct. Wizard101 came up with a working solution by not just having a chat filter, but only allowing you to use a specific dictionary of predetermined words.

You can't effectively work around. Its a bit annoying to deal with, but general conversation is unaffected. They block numbers I guess for A/S/L requests and phone numbers or anything of the like.

This just got me interested. What do you mean when you say they block numbers?

Can I say the word "two" using their list of words? If not, how do people work around that? Are there player-to-player transactions? Is it possible to agree to meet someone at a specific time?

You can't say "2", "Two", or even "II".

To work around it you say "too". Or you can say "I I", since it reads it as "I" (as in the noun, and not the roman numeral) and you can also use "X" in place to 10, but you can't use "V" in place of five. So you can say "X I I I" to say 13. You get the idea.

Some people say "for plus one" to equal five, because for some reason, the word "one" is allowed. Or say "Fifth", so they'll say, "I'll be back in Fifth Minutes".

They have a Menu Chat system that allows some basic chat functionality. If you are under 13 years of age, and don't have your parents permission to use the filtered chat, you are forced to use the menu chat.

The menu chat is fairly well built. It allows for the use of numbers in various messages like, "I have 50/243 Health.", or "I have 20/83 Mana.". But that is the only use of actual numbers I can find in the entire game.

You can't use fake or made up words, only specific words that it allows. I think more games should use this system, it will cut down on "wtfhax ipwn teh n00ewb". It encourages proper spelling. Grammar is another story.

If you say something that the system doesn't recognize it will be highlighted red while your typing it in, if it is accepted it will turn white. If you try to send a message that the system won't accept it will replace the word with "...", no matter how long it is it will always be just three periods.

Its a bit inconvenient, and the team talks about removing the filter, but nothing in set in stone. They say they'd rather not give it at all, then to give it and then take it away. I can respect that.

Hope I was able to help with your question.

Has anyone received their beta testing email yet?
I signed up a month ago and as yet haven't heard anything. I'm really excited about playing this game, I've been playing Toontown for nearly 3 years, but I'm in need of something new to play and think this will be just my thing.
