Wow wow wow wow! They sure know how to nickle and dime you to death, don't they?!

They obviously don't since they're releasing all of them at once. A better strategy would be to release, say, one pack a week for a while to make it feel like they're not charging as much. Worked with Rock Band (granted, that's music, but if they were to release 50 tracks of paid DLC one week it would be a bit overwhelming...).

If by 'nickel and dime' you mean '$1 and $4', yeah. It's... ugly.

Personally, I'm renting the game and I'll probably buy some of the enhanced weapons, but none of the ones that are just skins.

Fuckers, if I am paying £40 for a game I expect it to be the full version, not a cut down copy that requests my credit card for extra functionality.

I HATE MICRO TRANSACTIONS.

Talk about how to rip people off.

The game plays just fine without any of this content, in fact, you probably shouldn't even download any of it unless you already beat the game once. The second and third time thru the game loses some of its "scare factor" so stuff like this just adds a bit more to the game to enhance its replayability. Since its all optional, nothing wrong with that in my book. There is something about going back in on a replay and totally annihilating the creeps that gave you so much trouble the first time thru.

Bit much yeah, I wonder if you can combine these items in the game.

I'll probably get the big gun and heavy damage pack. Maybe speed kills too.

Most of that old stuff you get for free is user-generated. I don't know about any Uncharted DLC, but Half-Life had a huge fan base that had tons of people creating for it.

Companies like EA have to spend money to create this stuff, so of course they're going to have to charge for it.

It starts to get bad when they release products that aren't complete and tack on the hole-fillers as paid DLC, like that what was it, Company of Heroes or something? where certain weapons in multiplayer couldn't be obtained through exp in the game?

It's still a good game, absolutely worth paying for, but I agree regarding the DLC. I guess some people enjoy it, and I won't knock those that do, but I can never justify spending any amount of money on a skin. Even mild weapons upgrades seem kind of petty to me.

I guess I have just too many memories of getting all of this stuff for free on old PC games like Half Life and Unreal. Or from Uncharted!

The whole thing feels manufactured to me. It takes virtually no resources to build a skin or tweak the damage values on a weapon and ship it out onto the PSN. EA is simply looking for a cheap revenue stream (and I honestly can't blame them... obviously people pay for it). I just can't help but think that there is tremendous room for customer good will here (i.e. release it for free but for a limited amount of time).

Just aim carefully and press both L1 and R1 simultaneously. Don't hold them down. Stay focused on one part of the screen at a time, and let some asteroids go if you have to.

I'm seeing a growing trend here with "cheap" DLC that should otherwise be free or included from the beginning. I'm thinking developers are getting a taste of their cash cow and liking it.

Why should it be free or included? EA is a publicly traded company that has to please its shareholders in addition to its customers. None of the content listed above affects the the experience in a manner anyone should feel ripped off because it's not part of the boxed game. It's pimp gear and cheat codes, nothing more.

With the cost of game development these days be thankful publishers are looking to subsidize their investments with TOTALLY OPTIONAL DLC instead of raising the cost of the game itself.

Wow, you cry just like a corporate investor. That must take some serious practice. My point, that you clearly missed while on your soapbox, was that charging $1-5 USD for a skin, a weapon, or some other innate upgrade that was probably developed near the completion time of the game is ridiculous. We have seen games that update via DLC, and that clearly didn't put anyone out of business. If you can't see the rather obvious avenue of cash flow from all of these little DLC options, then you must be a big fan of getting worked by the system. Then again, you're just some guy arguing with my opinion on a PS3 blog... so you already matter less than dirt. Good luck out there - the business world needs people like you to deliver the mail.

Dead Space is great! Standing ovation for EA REDWOOD! now, as for the DLC. You DONT have to buy it if you dont want it. While I do agree that skins are not worth it. I will be buying the extra firepower. I beat it once and would like to pwn the impossible mode and since im in no hurry . i will wait til xmas for a possible discount sale on psn. Im ok with this, thanks for offering me the opportunity to decide. thumbs up!

wow.. cow cash !
That really bad, a great game with stupide thing like the impossible mode unlocked with any diffivulty level ended.. the requirement to play again in easy mode for the all powerup trophy (1,2 run to powerup everything), then this.. I would pay 5$ for the whole DLC.

as some other said, it's a (bad) trend beside this, if its successfull we'll have that schema again and again. Why not ask to pay for DLC to gain Platinum trophy? (in making it quite impossible without the DLC)..

Bad bad things hidden.. but with the WII being so successfull, I can only understand.. The bad effect of the Wii are just starting.. (next PS and XBox will be just overclocked past-gen console, remember my words!!)

That sounds a bit lame... The game is awesome and to be honest I think the trophies are pretty easy to get without any DLC compared to Pixeljunk games or Wipeout HD. This is the first game I've ever gotten a Platinum for.

But I hope charging for stuff that should already be in the game in the first place doesn't become a trend.

hmm, its sad to see so many naggin souls together. Who cares if the DLC is bad or just enhances the game sligt. Deadspace has to be one of the games this fall with the most replay value. Its brilliant in its genre, and a worthy match for RE5. As many others ive been waiting for a great survival horror game for the ps3 and this is it. The DLC is great, and ill be buying most of it, cous I love playing this game. EA deserves respect taking this chance, and ill gladly giving them my cash.

I'd be more tempted to get these if I hadn't already gotten the platinum trophy... With that, I have little reason to play this game any more, despite how good it was.

(Though, if I may take out my work-related frustration on some alien limb slicing in the future, who knows.)

Aren't we all glad MGS4's Camo/Music downloads weren't microtransactions!!

i agree with hemi, so many posters on this site need to make their mind up about dlc. on the one hand they complain when the break box please fix me gets all the dlc. the minute a developer shows us some dlc lovin they say "its a cash cow" or "it should already be in the game" so what you lot are saying to the devs is dont support your games after launch. and to those who say skins are a rip off i bet straight away you will go and buy the lbp skins. this site writes an article on how very welcome media molecules lbp dlc is(yes i did get the rare week 1 t-shirt) and how unwelcome ea's dead space dlc is. make your mind up, i welcome any and all dlc on the psn. beggars cant be choosers and the way you all cry that dlc should be free you probably are all beggars. that or a bunch of kids who cant get no more money of mummy and daddy. i will be buying the all the dlc to show my support for ea redwood for making this superb game.

@ andy what are you on about man quote "they really like to screw their customers" you talk as if its compulsory to buy the dlc. quote "they couldnt have packed them all into one pack and sell for 5$?" well i dont know if you know this but devs need to make money if they dont then guess what no dead space 2.and FYI screwing their customers would be releasing this dlc on the 360 ONLY. then you people would be singing a different tune.

@ everyone else by all means nag and moan when the 360 gets exclusive dlc. fallout 3 comes to mind look at the reaction of the ps3 community when bethesda announced dlc for pc and 360 only and all the oblivion dlc we did not get fighters stronghold and horse armor etc and look how you reacted over gta4 exclusive 360 dlc. im from England and $30 is not a lot of money its about £15 its pennys really, so please dont go on like its a bank breaking amount of money its so embarrassing. my job is not very well paid but i still manage to get all the new games and dlc without crying about the price.gaming is expensive get with it or GIVE IT UP.

@ American posters, games in the us cost $60 well in England they cost £40 that equals $80. so in the states you already pay less for games, what more do you want?. $60 plus the price of dlc and still you are not paying as much as we pay in England for the game alone. so think about that next time you whine about $5 or $20 dlc.

I'm for DLC, and I want to put DLC naysayers in their place - Dead Space is a very complete package by itself, and the company has to put extra work in to create the DLC. So they are going to charge for it. It's fucking retarted to avoid a game because they have optional DLC that you have to pay for if you want it. Don't say "it should've been included at launch for free," because that's just not true.

I hate these whiners on the articles about DLC. Don't fucking buy it if you don't want it.

I, for one, might buy that new weapon just for the hell of it.
