Mega Man ?9 rushes onto Virtual Console
55
This week's sole Virtual Console offering is Mega Man 3 (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points), an ideal match for post-MM9 masochists looking to rediscover the blue bomber's (square) roots. As you can see, our power-hungry protagonist once again finds himself trapped between eight fiendish robot masters -- a particularly alarming situation given the locations of Hard Man and Top Man.

Answer: the only place to find worthwhile games on the Wii.

A for-profit emulator, if that idea doesn't strike you as illogical.

It's a console that is virtually on your console to virtually let you play other games on consoles that you don't have, virtually.

Galaxy, Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, HoTD 2&3, RE4, Metroid Prime 3, etc. aren't worthwhile games? Or did they add those on Virtual Console when I wasn't looking.
Or is everyone just boycotting game retailers and only playing VC/XBLA/PSN games now?

Oh Joystiq, you manage to point out the sexual references in everything.

It's funny because hard is descriptive of the state of an erect penis, and top is a term generally given to the man in a gay couple that does the penetrating or the other man's rear!

Nice visual trick with the square root with MM9 still in many people's minds.

Ah, the square root of 9. Megaman 3.
That's cute. Put it on a shirt and sell it at Hot Topic. That is my favorite store.

OR you can make the shirt yourself and tell others how cool you are.

I'm kind of serious. I was walking by one in Minneapolis 4 years ago and saw a shirt with the "Faygo" logo on it. Snatched it up for $10. It is still comfortable to this day. Not like those others that feel stiff and cheap.
I hate clothes shopping. I was in and out in like 5 minutes. That makes me a happy panda.

I wish they'd put 2 and 3 on XBLA!

Mega Man 9 was just fine with the 360 D-pad.
I'd rather see MM10, 11, etc., but I'd still take some remakes.

Meh, emulate it for free or play it on the NES like everyone else.

So Dan your asking us to either break the law or try to find a good working NES with MegaMan 3. In case you forgot, most gamers these days started playing games during the Snes/N64 era. Virtual Console is a great way for people to legitimatly and legally play old-school titles to see what all the fuss is about. I COULD (and have in the past) downloaded PC emulators (Goldeney is a great example) but i would rather get it on VC. I've been CRAVING to play Yoshi's Island, but i'm waiting for a VC release, same with Shadowman 64.

It's called the Mega Man Collection. MM1-8 in a single disc, available cross platform in the prior gen.Legal, cheap, and all in one disc.

or you can go to EBgames or Other used game outlets and get the megaman anniversary collection and save yourself the trouble...especially on the wii, where backwards compatibility isn't an issue

couldn't you change the controls?
and wasn't like every second button jump/shoot? so you had options

The switching of A and B was dumb, but it's not like it ruined the game. I still managed to beat every game in the collection.
It does make more economic sense to buy the Anniversary collection, but it's not the easiest thing in the world to find these days. And I guess these Virtual Console releases make more sense if you only want one of them. (Though why anyone would only want one Mega Man game is beyond me. String them together. They become one giant Mega Man epic broken down into 9 worlds.)
