Mirrors Edge. I MUST HAVE IT!

I guess blogging for Joystiq has its perks, like always getting the first comment.

Chris wins a +1 for having the perfect avatar/comment combo.

It's 19.40pm in UK btw. If I got a capacitor every time I had an opportunity to write first, I would've built my own PC by now.
Courtney @ Nov 10th 2008 2:45PM
I concur with Mr. Grant's eloquent thesis on the desire to obtain that which is new and intriguing.
copa @ Nov 10th 2008 2:47PM
The Mirror's Edge demo was a lot of fun to mess around with, but I'm not convinced there's a $60 game in there. I'm looking forward to the reviews.
Deeznuts420 @ Nov 10th 2008 2:48PM
if i had a flux capacitor, id have 1.2 GIGGAWATS!
GatorSax2010 @ Nov 10th 2008 3:34PM
And you'd still be .01 short :(
Mike @ Nov 10th 2008 3:46PM
I liked the demo a lot better than I thought I would. Definitely a must rent for me. Economic crunch (actually newborn twins) has put a strain on the ole gaming wallet.
CosterMonger @ Nov 10th 2008 4:50PM
I like the demo but the combat leaves something to be desired I hope their are some RPG elements to the game, I would like to be able to take out groups of enemies through fighting chains. I really like the acceleration while running and the view a focus effects.
my hope is the game is long enough and appealing enough to garner a high score, I like games that innovate instead of the old imitate.
XGM @ Nov 10th 2008 8:30PM
You should have said FIRST !!!!
Sora @ Nov 10th 2008 9:00PM
I want to see a blogger get downvoted to hell, just for the lulz....
waves @ Nov 10th 2008 2:35PM
Meh, I say. I played the Mirror's Edge demo, but it didn't really grab me. I also played the COD beta this weekend. It was fun, but I was getting bored with it by the time the beta expired.
If nothing else I might trade in Fable II for LBP. That is if the servers don't go down again.
Lars @ Nov 10th 2008 5:26PM
LBP servers have been working fine since the patch that hit right after release.
I was going to snag WotLK this week, but I think I'm gonna hold off and get Mirror's Edge first. I hope I can still pre-order and get that messenger bag.
waves @ Nov 10th 2008 5:28PM
Nice. I notice there were a lot of stories about server issues, so it's nice to hear they're fixed.
Biff_McFresh @ Nov 10th 2008 2:36PM
Nuts and Bolts is tempting...
Already bought Korg DS-10, so probably nothing for me this week.
giantenemycrab @ Nov 10th 2008 2:39PM
I want Mirror's Edge, COD, and Banjo Kazooie, but I still have to finish Saints Row 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3, and Gears of War 2. Argh, overload!
Vcize @ Nov 10th 2008 3:01PM
I feel your pain. By the time I get done with all these games, we'll be starting up 2009's influx of holliday games.
Misfit Toy @ Nov 10th 2008 9:25PM
Don't feel bad, I'm still playing catch up from last holiday. Assassin's Creed? Still not finished. I'm even going through GTA IV (after taking a long break off). Trying to finish them off...but I'm already too late...the waves are crashing...aaggghhh!
At least I ran through Dead Space. That was good.
Superstar90 @ Nov 10th 2008 2:39PM

pretty good, pretty, pretty good.
Yourself @ Nov 10th 2008 2:42PM
Hey I came here to say the same thing. I thought the first Symphonia was easily the best in the series and one of the better RPGs of its generation, so I'm really psyched about this one. Don't think I'll miss the incredibly generic overworld, but I'm not sure yet how I feel about 3D combat and the 'Pokemon' system. Hopefully it won't disappoint.

Levi @ Nov 10th 2008 2:39PM
dude I LOVED the Mirror's Edge demo. I can't wait to get it.
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 10th 2008 2:41PM
Red Alert 3...wait a fucking second, are they still trying to shoehorn the RTS genre into consoles? Developers, get a fucking grip - either leave it to PC's and stop trying to port it.
Vidikron @ Nov 10th 2008 2:44PM
Or just support KB/M. That would seem to be the most obvious and simple solution.
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 10th 2008 3:36PM
I'd argue that RTS's for Console would still suck, but yes that does fix most of the issues.
Haggard @ Nov 10th 2008 5:19PM
Then I might actually enjoy playing my PS3! (no, I'm not buying UT3 again just for the novelty)
Levi @ Nov 10th 2008 7:15PM
meh, I'm tired of upgrading my computer, and this is coming from someone who used to mod and map FPS's since the Build engine (doom & duke nukem), so the idea of being able to play Red Alert 3 at all intruiges me. It may be clunkier than on a PC, and we'll miss out on mods, but I might actually pick it up.
Sami @ Nov 10th 2008 9:15PM
FFXII: Revenant Wings shows that it can be done, and awesomely well.
Vidikron @ Nov 10th 2008 2:43PM
Not completely sold on Mirror's Edge. So I'll likely rent that and World at War (as soon as I finish a half dozen other games). I'll be buying Banjo Kazooie.
Sackolantern PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Nov 10th 2008 7:33PM
Vid,
Thanks for coming and joining the new site. I actually just picked up COD WAW at Gamestop but I'm thinking I will just return it if it sucks and get Mirrors Edge. My friend is the Manager so I get a few extra perks.
John Z @ Nov 10th 2008 2:44PM
Many many good things this week. I'm kinda broke and stuck behind a MAJOR backlog, though, so nothing just yet-- but by the time I get to them, Mirror's Edge, Tales of Symphonia, and Eternal Poison will have come down in price. (Then again-- Eternal Poison might just be impossible to find by the time I can get to it!)
Dan CiTi @ Nov 10th 2008 2:47PM
Johnny Yong Bosch voices the main character in the new Tales game for Wii, so I'll have to check that out.
OMGOMG @ Nov 10th 2008 2:47PM
Good god. I have Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 right now via Gamefly, bought GoW2 on Saturday, and now Mirror's Edge and Banjo come out.
PLUS, I have a biology test on Wednesday.
Too many game, not enough time.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 10th 2008 2:50PM
Call of Duty: World at War (Buy)
Mirror's Edge (Rent)
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Buy)
Man! Finally, the great games are gonna start slowing down for a bit.
Dirty @ Nov 10th 2008 3:29PM
Got no time, we are stuck on level 30 in Horde. MUST BEAT!
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 10th 2008 3:44PM
I was on Wave 27 when my shit stopped working. And guess what? My friends ended up going on all the way to Hoard the Fucking Horde (achievements name) and beat Wave 50 without me!!!! Trust me, there was some cursing that night. Lots!
*SIGH*
Dirty @ Nov 10th 2008 3:55PM
On hardcore? That what we are doing, I dont know why.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 10th 2008 4:15PM
Hardcore, you should try it on Gridlock. Put shields in front of the sniper tower entrances so the Grinders/Boomers won't come up. Get 2 really good snipers. Someone in charge of the boom gun and a regular do it all and that Horde is Hoarded...
Vcize @ Nov 10th 2008 4:28PM
If they've already beaten level 50 on hardcore that's pretty freaking impressive.
We're on lvl 27 on hardcore, currently.
I refuse to ever set my game to casual, even if it's an easy way to get an achievement.
Vcize @ Nov 10th 2008 4:29PM
What do you do about ammo when you're holed up there?
We've been doing Day One since the HoD and torque are so strong in horde mode, and ammo boxes are right near the bottom of the stairs.
It's been going pretty well, only stopped at lvl 27 because it got late, gonna pick up from there tonight.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 10th 2008 4:56PM
"What do you do about ammo when you're holed up there?"
We aren't holed up in there. Theres still room to go out and get boomgun ammo and ammo boxes. The shields only prevent the boomers/grinders/butchers from getting in. You still got the flood wannabe bastards and some others charging in lmao!
Which reminds me, if only Halo3 looked as beautiful as Gears 2. It would have been perfect... ***SPOILERZ*** The Worm stage reminds me of the Flood stage on H3 but the worm stage is sooo much better. Pools of blood FTW!
samfish @ Nov 10th 2008 2:50PM
Come to me, Banjo Kazooie!
...although admittedly I'm more excited for the free DL code for the original than I am for the new one >_>
RyFar206 @ Nov 10th 2008 2:52PM
I know everyone loves to hate on it (especially over at Kotaku), but I found the CoD:WaW beta lots of fun, and will pick that up tomorrow. I wish I had enough money left over to get Gears, but I have to save my money for books for next semester...
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 10th 2008 3:27PM
CoD: WaW is Outstanding! Out-fucking-standing! It kicked ass! ;)
ZOMBIE WAVES FTW!!!
jimmygotsmack @ Nov 10th 2008 2:53PM
I would defiantly buy this.
If it wasn't for the fact that many reviewers said you can beat it, not rushing, in 6 hours, and with not many other features. Granted, from what the demo showed those would probably be a kick ass 6 hours. I can't see why this would be more then a rental.
Lee @ Nov 10th 2008 3:19PM
Depends on what kind of gamer you are.
Me and my mates downloaded the demo and spent an hour playing it, simply taking turns. A pre-order later we were ready for the time trial!
The e-mail took a week to come... but 4 of us sat around for at least 6 hours racing eachothers ghosts as it is.
The demo level. Hotseat. 6 hours. Time trial/trackmania/hell even Sonic fans will love the replayability of the time trials.
That's why I got PS3 (as well as I don't like the blurry 360 look) for Time Trial DLC.
Kevin @ Nov 10th 2008 3:57PM
I have one word for you that destroys your argument:
Portal
jimmygotsmack @ Nov 10th 2008 5:12PM
@Kevin
Who me, or Lee?
If its mine, Portal came with the orange box. Even if it was less then 6 hours long, there was a lot in the box.
Booxatron @ Nov 10th 2008 5:13PM
Kevin, I have two words for you that destroy YOUR argument:
Sixty dollars.
