Apparently unhappy with "Operation 72 Oz. Frozen Soda" and "Project Huge Bag of Funyons," 7-11 has launched yet another salvo in the Obesity War: Starting sales of World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King early. Our friends over at WoW Insider have received a picture from a fan able to procure a copy of his very own.
We'd take this opportunity to mock them, but we're sure WoW fans are already running to their local 7-11 for the chance to sit motionless for hours at a time, days earlier than their friends. Well, OK, they're probably not running.

Hey- its 7-11. When that stupid light is blinking on the ICEE machines and all that comes out is juice- do you complain?! NO, ITS 7-11. DEAL.
But really - it's great that they're selling games there... any place I can purchase a video game and get my Arizona tea fix is amazing.

@ZaxCG2 - Icees are those terrible things at K-Mart. Around here 7-11 sells the liquid crack that is the Slurpee. Worlds of difference. : )

The other question would be, did you read the article or just the headline?

And i would have to answer that no i did not, I misread the article and thought the sitting motionless joke was about the servers not being up.
Ahem, The servers will not be available till Wenesday at about 9PM PST. Sorry for being an ahole!

Not happy with the mocking tone, and the servers won't let you head to northrend quite yet. Not quite like scoring a copy of gears 2 early since the game isn't entirely on your system.

Either there's a pro-Wii, DDR and/or Roll N Rocker bias here, or I'm going to call you guys hypocrites. Gaming isn't known to be a terribly physical activity.

If I say that I'm not fat, does it make me look like a fat kid denying he's fat? Because I'm really not fat... seriously... no joke...

As an anecdote:
I was playing wii fit daily back in june. My brother told me he wanted to go back to WoW that month so we did. Since I was playing WoW I didn't care for any other game, wii fit included.
Now, I went back to wii fit today because my wife wanted to check her weight. So I checked my weight today too and I had gained 4 pounds. Since I left WoW back in October we can conclude that you gain 1 pound a month while you're playing WoW. So yes, hardcore WoW players are probably fatties.

There's still a lot of room for discussion here. You didn't mention what you'd been eating, or how much of it, or any mention of activities/work which might involve more physical exertion than Wii Fit provides. Too many variables here, really... playing Wii Fit or other physical games, while eating fifteen burgers, two bags of chips, and a few dozen liters of soda will get you fat, too, but it's not Wii Fit's fault, now, is it?
Anecdotal evidence is just that, and a really poor sample size to boot.

I'm not blaming Wii Fit. I said I didn't touch it for more than 4 months (I was playing WoW those months).
Anyway, if you need more info here it is:
I'm a software developer, so I don't get any exercise at work. My diet didn't change during that period of time. I went from 66kg to 68kg so my BMI is still in the ideal range, just higher.
And after all, it's just my case. Results may vary.

That information is somewhat more complete. Really, though, it's the general lifestyle that should be blamed in your case. As a programmer, you spent little time moving (as you already mentioned) through the course of the day. That alone would cause weight gain, unless very specific steps were taken to watch your diet.
Do not blame Warcraft for your decision to continue to follow a sedentary lifestyle, as any game or less active activity would have the exact same result.

Face it people. WoW is a decent game, but will never be the equal to a good console game. Or even a mediocre console game to be honest about it. And yeah, I play it. Level 70 rogue, and was bored at level 60. Frankly, I would rather Resident Evil 5 come out now, than waste money on Wow again right away.

Speak for yourself... I have 12 consoles ranging from an Atari and NES to my 360 and Wii. I'm a big WoW fan and only touch my consoles when a game that's really good enough tears me away from WoW. Two 70s and a couple of alts. IMO the game STARTS once you hit 70.

Hardly. Doing what. Repeatedly running the same things over and over and over with no end to the game. Doesn't make sense to me, nor does it appeal to me. Hey, I like WoW, I'm just bored with it now. But then, I still prfer the real RPG's, (not the video stuff that claims to be them). Besides, Console gaming also doesn't force you to team up with people, which is the one aspect of WoW that I totally despise.

A lot opens up at 70... regardless of whether or not raiding is your "thing" or not there's countless hours of fun to be had, hoping the gear you want drops, spending all that time to eventually down Illidan. And then there's PvP seasons, BGs, dailies, ally/horde ganking etc etc etc...
Completely personal, but I found it really rewarding for it to have taken months to "finish" the game when I downed Illidan the 1st time rather than the average and disappointing 8 hours it takes for me to finish the single-player content of many console games nowadays.
I'm not bashing the fact that you're bored with WoW, just don't say that any mediocre console game kills it. Apples and oranges, to each his own. I share my love for gaming across my PC and TV ;-)
P.S. Final Fantasy III/VI still remains one of the best games of all time, possibly #1 over WoW in my personal favs. Took me over 100 hours to finish when I was a kid.

Hahaha. I have those as well. But my favorite is still the 78 hours i put into Tales Of Symphonia. That one sort of ruined me on everything else. As did Skies of Arcadia. BUt like i said. I will always prefer a true RPG game. (Meaning character sheets and dice). I wouldn't put down WoW. Just get bored because of all the stuff I can't do in the game, Because I refuse to team up with people. They can't be trusted, so why waste my time, you know. The only instances i ever saw, was when i was able to solo them, like i did the whole game. And BG's are boring. Except for AV that is. That one I have to admit, I have a lot of fun in.

Guys, I play WoW. My dad plays, both my brothers play. It makes me laugh to single out WoW players on a site full of video games.
Sorry to lose you as a longtime fan. Or, at least, Joystick will be, whoever they are.
