Re: Mirrors Edge.

Yeah, I played for an hour last night and felt sick as a dog. I don't get travel sick in vehicles so took awhile to work it out.

The thing with ME though is that you can quite easily pick it up for 15 minutes and then take a break. The chapters are short.

As for Live. I tend to play without a mic nowadays unless with friends. Took many cock jockey's out there.

There are a lot of "safe" places out there for girl gamers. Unfortunately playing with the general public will lead to alot of idiots, jerks, and .. you get the idea. Gaming with the XGX (Gamerchix), or online communities is a great idea. When I first went from Oxbox to 360, I was having a heck of a time with no friends, and running into pig-headed males ALL the time. "Take off your shirt, hey baby are you hot?" or the opposite "You must be ugly and fat because you play games". I had almost lost hope on Live when I found AGE. (AdultGamingEnthusiasts.com) Not only are they a great crew, but very respectful, lots of fun, and there are other girls there too. We even have Game Nights (Thursday is Halo) and Tournaments (I won the last halo one, whee!) I recommend checking them out, or some of the other ones like 2Old2Play. You will definitely have a better time if you are gaming with friends from these communities.

Hate to say this, but most girls on XBL sound like little kids so he might have thought you were a kid, but still its no reason for him to be mean. I myself have pretty good experiences with online games, haven't had many people that were too annoying. Probably the worst was when a bunch of black guys were like "nigger u suck, stupid nigger" and so on, it was pretty annoying, but you just have to learn that there are mean people everywhere, and you just have to avoid them. I try to be nice to everyone online and people add me to there friends list because they find me enjoyable to play with.

If people are just too crazy, think about buying some PC games, people on PC are generally much nicer, mainly because its a tad more expensive and you have to buy a mic, it doesn't come with every one like an Xbox.

Not being a PC fanboy, I love both.

Suggestions for the lady who had the douchebag problem.

www.sbgclan.com
(A christian based clan though we have many non-christian members. Come and introduce yourself in the forums. Lots of good players, mature, no trash talking or swearing, with active forums and a code of conduct.) There is also an affiliates page with links to plenty of clans like Outcast reborn, Fallen Unity (has girls on staff I think), Tied the Leader, H3 Wheelmen and others. All are members of the Good Gamers Network. Any of them would be a good home and most have published codes of conduct.

2old2play.com has an active Halo community for players over 25years. We Halotards there have 3 or 4 active girl gamers and are always accepting new members. Its casual with clan nights, most players rank 40 and lower.

Join either or any of these groups - get into full parties mute the other teams and *poof* Halo is fun again. I can be found at SBG or Halotards hope to see you there.

The mute button and player reviews are your friend. I remember one of the first times I played COD4 multiplayer there was a guy just spouting off racial slurs. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was probably the worst stuff I've ever heard on Live. So, I muted the guy and after the match submitted a player review. Now I'll never have to hear him again.

I don't know how well the player review feature works though. I got teamed up with a party that betrayed me the entire game so avoided the whole party. Then the four matches I got was with that same party. So I switched playlists and around a month later I was teamed up with them again.

My understanding is that the PES d-pad's only difference is that it registers more points of motion than the current one. Something like 16 instead of 8. And in that sense, only games that are made to register those additional points of interest will even benefit from the controller.

It doesn't correct the simple fact that the 360 dpad does not directly touch the connectors like every other decent dpad in history. Open the thing up and then open up any other controller you have. They look nothing alike there. No amount of sanding away the rim around the dpad will fully fix the issue either. Sometimes reinventing the wheel is not a good thing.

MS needs to redo it entirely and get rid of the weird plastic shape they currently use for it. There's a reason why random 3rd party controllers with traditional dpads are going for $40 to even $100 on eBay right now.

I get people bitchin' at me all the time on COD4 when I continuously pound them all. I usually just turn the volume on my mic all the way down when there's too much BS going on.

Not only that, but I actually people negative rep me because of it. I don't trash talk (if I do I'm probably just joking around) and I play fair as possible, no cheap shit. I guess people can't f'in appreciate a good player. I even had a group of kids in one match (I believe they were in some clan) try to file a complaint on me to get me banned. Why? Cause I wouldn't stop killing them in Free-For-All.

Seriously? There are no doubt some f'in retards on Xbox Live. And unfortunately if you're a good player in any game you usually end up with people "avoiding" you simply because of that fact.

Though when there are cool people on, I usually have a great time. It's a lot like the real public I suppose.

Yup. I had something similar happen to me. I trashtalked this kid back into the hole he came out of during R6V2, and he sent in a complaint, calling me unsporting when he was the one that was racially trashtalking first.

To be honest, I stopped multiplaying online as a whole unless it's with my friends only. I got sick of the rampant 12 year olds who should be in bed by 10.30 calling me a f**kstain because I was able to stick him with a plasma grenade, or I'd sniper him out. I sold GTA4 and COD4 because of it as well. Doubt I'll ever play Gears 2 online at all, and if I play L4D, it'll be with friends only. XBL really needs to step up and do something to moderate the service better. It's getting ridiculous.

Back when the original Halo came out, one of my female friends was insane with the pistol. We'd have Halo parties and people would bring their TVs and Xboxes over, so everyone playing were in the same house. I'd get picked off with a pistol and hear a high-pitched "hah!" come from the adjacent room. Good times.

Last night I went out for my first public versus multipalyer on gears with a few of my friends from http://www.8bitfix.com

Two of them were women and none of them but me had any sort of experience in the game, we went online and we were immediately greeted with countless insults and vulgar language. Tanya (the sexy scarf lady featured on Joystiq) who was in our party was called a fat dyke to name one of the tamer things stated. We tried about 10 different matches that night before retreating to Horde. I will never play another public match in Gears of War 2. I miss the lobby system for public games where I could control the content of my room and ban dickheads.

My attitude is this:

Ignore the idiots.

Be happy in the knowledge that they are an asshole and you aren't.

Play your game

Um, are you guys serious? I'm not sure why some schmuck over xbox live would cause you to quit playing the game, or only play w/ bots, or cry. Try not to play with randoms, just play with a core group of friends. Use the mute button. Or in the case of halo3, change the voice setting to "Team and party". If someone on your team is a moron, mute them immediately. I have no idea why the girl who posed the question to x3f would leave that person unmuted until she broke down and cried. Sad.

I just sent this in but I figured I'd ask the question in here as well... Any news on Quake (3) Arena Arcade? Has anyone heard anything regarding a rough release date, what's in or what's out, size limitations, or the possibility of Quake1 making it into XBLA? You'd think since Doom/Duke have done well that Quake would be next. Thanks

The rudeness on xbox live is unfortuneatley well know! A few weeks ago my girl friend was playing Viva Pinata: TIP, and accidently setup a garden that allowed others in, one person jumped in, when we spotted we changed the settings and removed them. A lovely message followed saying 'Stupid C***'.... nuff said on that!

I feel like a pansy for admitting this but I totally got motion sick from Mirrors Edge as well. Too bad :\

As for crying because someone made fun of you on XBL, lol @ that. That's pretty sad, regardless of how big of a d-bag someone may be on the internetz.
