Molyneux & Co. still hyping: 'Big' Fable 2 announcement next week

Oh, Lionhead. The Fable 2 publisher, no stranger to hyping its products (with both good and bad results), is at it again. A posting on the developer's website reveals, "We've got some

news [emphasis theirs] for all Fable II fans next week, dare I even say it's quite a big announcement? Yes of course I dare say it's a big announcement regarding Fable II, next week!"

We're not quite sure why they felt the need to make "Good" its own image file for emphasis, but it looks like we'll find out soon enough. "

Woot!!

They haven't sent them out yet? Good, I thought mine got lost or denied for some reason.

So they are still withholding the codes. GOOD GOD HOW LONG ARE THEY KEEP THEM!!!!

Well, I've also found out that even when/if we do receive our codes, we'll have to restart the game in order to retrieve the items. They didn't work a way into the game to retrieve items from the Guild chest more than once.

Yeah, I too made the mistake of buying Fable LE, what a waste of money.

It is amusing reading the posts on Xbox.com though, and seeing people rationalize Microsoft screwing us by saying that Election Day and Veterans Day shouldn't count as business days for the 10 day turnaround. :)

MS was the group responsible for placing the XBox Live DLC activation codes within the packaging. Apparently, they had several locations doing the packaging and only one of them was actually placing the DLC code cards into the LE edition.

That's why a bunch of us are still twiddling our thumbs trying to discern what 5-10 business days means in MicroSoft calender days as it's been at least 12 for me.

Good news like patches for all the glitches in the game? zing!

I hope its something to fix the 2 player mode.

Proper co-op?

The henchman thing was pretty disappointing.

My big question with co-op is: what's the point? Unless you're going to play the game from start to finish, I guess. After you "win", and even before that, you're basically a god.

Co-op in Fable has so much potential, what's implemented now is a shadow of what could have been.

I think the "good" image file goes back to the days of Black & White and it's follow-ups, the words "good" and "evil" were given image files on the Lionhead forums for yucks. So they'll keep up with that but they won't give us the sequels they talked about! :/

Yeah, you've got it. It goes back all the way to before the release of the original Black & White. I remember those days... kind of charming to see they're still using the images.

I hate this guy and his hype, but mostly for his smug french face and that little tuft of hair on top of his head.

The Norman [read: French] Invasion of England in 1066 means that pretty much every Englishman is at least a little French by now.

Ha I still remember the supposed "big" additions that he was hyping for fable 2 and it turned out to be all casual stuff like a dog and 1 button combat. Forgive me if I'm not exactly shaking in anticipation Molyneux.

That was what it was from the beginning you tard. They stated 1 button combat and a dog from 06-07..

I remember when he announced it. He started off with the initial unveiling, which was nothing but a CG trailer and then he said there's going to be 4 "huge" announcements for the game leading up to launch. The first letdown was the dog, then the 1 button combat etc etc.

I remember it clearly because it was just another case of molyneux opening his mouth and way overhyping his games.

PC version

Thats exactly what i think. I'm surprised more people aren't saying this.

It says for "fable 2 fans", as soon as i read that i thought of a pc port. it kinda makes it seem like its not for the current 'owners' but the 'fans'!

could be wrong of course but we all know i pc game will eventually come out - hopefully sooner than we expected

Molyneux should REALLY stay away from hyping anything (emphasis, mine). Hasn't he ever heard of the phrase, "Under promise and over deliver"? I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, for once, by a Molyneux product.

Thats the thing, its not the super tag its an image file. Why use the latter instead of the former I have no idea... maybe their website doesn't allow random html in the text?

I wouldn't mind having some new stuff to do in the game, I'm not at all tired of Fable II at all, but I'm down to fetch quests and I have all the money/renown/XP I'll ever need.

Also, Fable II had a very good ending.

I agree, the ending was amusing and unexpected.. which was pretty much the theme of the whole game. It fit in perfectly and left me smiling.

Are people complaining about the final boss, rather than the actual ending? Because even then, I think what they did was far more fitting than having some ridiculous monster suddenly pop up.

How about better coop? Being forced to play a henchman and stuck with a shitty camera is totally innexcusable, given I had better coop with Diablo 10 years ago.

DSi version where you can stick a pic of your own head on your character, making it even more realistic

If they plan to include REAL co-op, then I may get excited for this game. If not, they I really have no desire to return to it.

Seriously? You couldn't take the time to notice that there's a halo over the first "o" in good? Doesn't show up on your site because the halo is white. Also doesn't show up well on their site, but you can see that it's there.

I'm guessing it's in reference to the content somehow relating to "good" characters specifically.

Oh hey, you're right! I can't see it at all on their site either, until I drag the image over that image of the Fable 2 Xbox.

How about re-releasing the game, with one that works?

I know I sound bitter, but I'm completely justified after putting in about 25 (great) hours, only to have a glitch cause me to be unable to earn any more renown, thereby ending my game because I couldn't get the 'respect' or whatever of the last dude I was searching for.

Really pisses me off that they can ruin a solid game by allowing game-ending glitches like that.
