I would get this if it allowed us to watch them build their towns and occasionally walk up, smash their town to bits and pieces, stomp them to bloody bits, and were played a Godzilla-esque cutscene with fleeing Keflings running for their lives.

Yea, yea, yea... But when are we gonna see a casual third-person shooter using Avatars? That would be pretty badass.

Does that music remind anyone else of "Me and Julio down by the schoolyard"?

With a little mix of "Walking on Sunshine" toward the end.

I'm really surprised by this becuase this game had next to no advertising which for the most part is what sells games.

Can't you use your avatars in the new Scene-It Game? I know you play as some stock avatars right now, but I heard once the new set-up goes live you can use your own avatars, doesn't this beat Kieflings to the "first to use" punch?

No.
Games such as Small Arms, Bomberman LIVE, and Scene-It: BOS have avatar support - i.e. your avatars are visible in game, but are either cheerleaders or have set actions.
In Scene-It, for example, it just shows a picture of your avatars head in the corner instead of your gamerpic, and occaisonally it shows all 4 avatars on a couch.
Here, you are actually moving and interacting with an environment through the use of your avatar.
