Full PC games on 'road map' of GFW Marketplace
Full game digital distribution is in the cards for Games For Windows Live, we just don't know when that hand will be dealt. "Clearly it's on our road map," GM Chris Early confirmed to Shacknews. An update to the service today added video, demo and DLC support to Microsoft's PC Marketplace.
Should services like Steam be concerned? Not yet, at least. But with Microsoft already locking up exclusive content for GFW Live (see Fallout 3 PC DLC), there's precedence to suggest the company could scoop into its considerable war chest and strike up some exclusivity deals when it gets around to offering full releases. Of course, Microsoft is known for taking its sweet time getting to the ultimate destination. Road maps can be complicated, you know?

they should just buy Valve

They should just license Steam from Valve instead of making their own thing. Steam works great right now.

I agree, microsoft is making an extremely irritating decision by further fracturing the digital distribution marketplace.
I doubt they can provide a better solution than steam in terms of quality of the experience. They will just strong-arm their way to dominance through their corporate relationships, allowing them to provide exclusive DLC to undermine valve.

DO NOT WANT

Steam is pretty buggy anyway, has a huge friggin memory leak on my system at least.

I hope it's as graphical as the Zune software.

I really like Steam and love Valve, but damn, I love being able to log into my 360 account and earn achievements on my computer with Fallout3. Works great too.

I note your use of the word "but", so I am prompted to respond, "you know you can do both, right?"
AwesomeTown @ Nov 13th 2008 7:18AM
Yea, just I feel bad saying I like something better than Valve. I still love you Valve.
Haggard @ Nov 12th 2008 6:27PM
I don't want exclusive DLC, I want the same things that the people on the consoles get. PC is just my preferred way of playing games, not a completely unique platform that requires special treatment sometimes and none at all at other times.
(By this I mean GTA IV DLC on 360 and release dates that aren't delayed by months)

Can't they just buy steam already?
Alien Lord @ Nov 13th 2008 1:36AM
MS doesn't care that much about GFW as they are making boat loads of money with the 360.
