I don't know if Xbox Live has had anything on this scale before, but good on Mickeysoft for making a system that could support this many players and still work fine.

/Still hasn't played GOW2.
//Wants to chainsaw people.
///Listens to the sounds of heads explode as someone says MS did a good job.

all very nice numbers (if they are true), but is it any good? answer no... Gears Of War 1.2 would have been a much more accurate title. Traded mine in already.

No, there have been threads elsewhere about the large number of players disappointed by it. I however, love it. I like to play online, but not as much as others. A lot of things have been changed to alter gameplay online, and that is what is not liked, ie shotgun toned down, concussion grenades, lancer problems... Anyways, I think these changes add new dynamics to the gameplay, and that is not what some wanted to have happen. My biggest complaints are the fact that you get booted back to menu 1 after each match, and the fact that all of the new multiplayer maps are symmetrical. I liked non symmetrical maps. Oh well, maybe DLC will add non symmetrical maps, and a patch to fix the menu thing.

I freakin love this game, I'm addicted to Horde right now. I completely agree with DBoy, the new "strategic" gameplay is welcomed.

I'm 50/50 on it.

The SP was good, short but solid.

The MP is a joke.

I just finished the SP. I'm still floored on how good it is.

the MP still needs improvement. However, I love Wingman!

No, I was too. Mostly hype, little content. Finished it, traded it in already.

"and approximately 1 million players were annoyed by the ponderously slow matchmaking." Come on, Epic-- matchmaking sucked in GOW 1 as well. Get it right.

Only complaint, ranked multiplayer matches take forever to form. other than that, no real gripes.

I'd like to see Epic comment on the total number of minutes wasted by users attempting to get a game online.

Must be in the millions by now.

Ya, good thing they broke a record for people online, or whatever, but we cannot find a match with those millions of people? Is this a joke Epic?

Maybe everyone was playing multiplayer first? I know I was. But surely out of the millions of people there were enough for matchmaking!

Yay, you sold copies in the babillions.

Now fix the FREAKING lag. When I shoot my shotgun, it should not take 3 seconds for my bullets to hit. Nor should my bullets then hit the ground 3 game feet behind me.

Also, please try less at paring me with 4 gold triangle peoples. It makes me teh sad, especially when my shotgun shoots in reverse.

Nick, you have me paranoid - I also have the extended MS warranty on my Elite! It transferred fine on the old 20gig Pro but that was a while ago now.

And 3 weeks from when I send it in - I'm still waiting to be able to send it in!

Hit me at chdude3[at]gmail[dot]com if you want to discuss.

Well, if my Falcon Elite hadn't given me the RROD 2 days before release, I might have been one of those people playing it.

For now, all I can do is look wistfully at my unopened LE and hope that MS gets its act together enough that I can actually start the repair process this Saturday, 10 days after I got the RROD.

My Elite went RRoD on Saturday, just hours after I received GoW2 in the mail. I was waitin' on a friend to come over to play so it crashed during Fable 2. I'm glad my older, 20 GB pro console still works!

I gave my 20gig Pro (itself an RROD replacement) to my sister and bought the Falcon Elite last December.

Fallout 3 killed mine last Wed. MS's system was down until 2pm PST Thurs, so I tried to submit an online repair order and got errors each time. I phoned in and the tech set it up.

Three days later I hadn't received an email with the shipping label, called back. Front line tech couldn't help, escalated. Supervisor couldn't help, escalated to Offline Support.

Got a call back Monday from a rep who will be "personally handling" my case. Seems my error'd online attempts F'd up their system, he sent out some emails to clear ALL pending requests on my box and we'll start over.

Then he told me he's on vacation until Saturday so will call me then and hopes we can start a fresh repair order then.

Absolutely fantastic. 10 days from RROD to when they "hope" to be able to start a repair order all over again. He noted that Toronto has been overloaded with repairs recently and estimates it's going to take 3 weeks to get a working box back.

So even better, I'm looking at a full month for a replacement. At this rate my friends will have beaten Horde on Insane before I can even play.

Viridium, it'll probably be 3 weeks once all is said and done. That should be about from the date you send it in.

I'm surprised you actually got the support level you did. It's been a cluster you know what with my MS dealings.

Ever since I first had an issue with the A/V cable back a few months after purchasing my 360, I've had no respect in their support.

After waiting for the longest time to get a status on a "repair" (and note, you'll get a new Elite as a replacement) I was treated like a piece of crap by every staff person I talked to.

I finally thought it was over once all was said and done, but they didn't transfer the extended warranty over, and I've had to fight for the last 3 weeks to try and get that going. No calls when promised, etc., etc.

And all of this, what it got me in a "sorry"?

A 1-month live card.

o_O

the thought that I need to buy another console for "back-up" disgusts me.

Open that LE up, bonus DVD is worth a look. And yeah M$ customer support sucks ass. I'm not very good at understanding any accents so can only understand 1 in 5 of the people I speak to, and when I do they are more than happyto lie their asses off!

It took me longer than normal just because of scheduling conflicts with my brother in law who was playing the entire campaign with me in co-op. Except for the way-too-easy last boss, everything was pretty awesome, and there's some nice setup for Gears3.

could be a higher number than that if it didnt take so long to log into a game online. I just give up on playing online since it takes so long to search for a match.

I love the Multiplayer and the design/music/game play of Gears2. The Campaign story was really disappointing and I am someone who LOVED the first Gears and it's thin story 'cause it didn't get in the way of the fun and the premise was different than what I'd seen in a game before.

What I didn't like about Gears2 was how the story line borrowed from everything. The worm from Dune or driving up a mountain in a vehicle, in search of the entrance to the bad guys lair, like Halo. The outpost laboratory with mutated people was such a sci-fi cliché that it's hard to just pick one movie or game that it ripped off, besides the obvious Halo characters 'The Flood'.

I did love any of the parts of the game that took place in the city, while it was under attack and the scenes about Dom and Maria were unexpectedly heavy and really disturbing, in a really effective way.

I think that the multiplayer has enough in it for the game to have long legs and be played for a long time. Last night I was even playing the training grounds 'Build your own' when my friends were offline, just to get some practice and see the maps. I'm counting the minutes until I get to play Horde again and hoping that I forget that absurd ending. Not since the ending of Alien Resurrection have I been so annoyed at the ridiculous use of monster that didn't fit the design or feeling of the rest of the piece.

How do so many people get RROD in one 'chat' or what ever you call it.. my 360 is on 6 to 14ish hours a day.. in 2 years I've never managed it although I'm on my 2nd console - first one couldn't read discs & they sent a refurb, as I'd bought an Elite while I was waiting, I sold the refurb.. My Elite got close, GPU was 'falling off'... mine is a first wave Elite (Zephyr)

Back to Gears 2.. although I loved the mixing up of the campaign.. some area's felt void of shooting stuff.. I found no problems with the weopons, they felt right.. even the shotgun, with a nice powerful short range.. I've only really played Horde on Live, which is great too maybe it's cause there's less people & I'm in England.. because even Gears 1 felt laggy for me.. I could hit someone 6 times with a shotgun at point blank & get nothing.. same has happened for someone shooting me.. but I found the Left 4 Dead demo worse, a very definate lag between trigger & it firing.. Didn't play Gears 1 much online.. since people seem to just roll&shotgun.. imo, breaking the game..

Gears 1 was patched several times.. one patch was to allow dlc.. others would be major bugs & weopon balancing...
