This Wednesday: Something burrowed, something blue, something old, nothing new on XBLA

As expected, a trio of ~~new~~, er, old games has joined the Arcade Hits lineup as part of this week's Xbox Live Arcade update: Worms (something burrowed), Feeding Frenzy (something blue) and Ultimate MK3 (something, well, old). Each game has been discounted to 400

($5).

And, as you may have gathered from the headline (if you made it to the end), there are no new releases on XBLA this week, ending a 26-week release streak that began on May 7th (according to our stat boy's research*). Perhaps the hiatus is intended to build anticipation for ... something big?

(Our best guess: We're in store for "something giant," as in the Giant Avatar game, A Kingdom for Keflings -- NXE is just one week away!)

*If we got that wrong, blame the intern!

Update: CarpeD1em500 brings up a good point. If you pre-ordered Nuts & Bolts you may have received a download code for Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA, which is available to you now. The game should be released to the public on or around November 26th. And, oh! We almost forgot: The Street Fighter "table" is also available for Pinball FX today!

Mortal Combat Ultimate with Online play. Ummm sounds like fun. But how do you find out what the fatalities are?

I thought the same thing... this game is about as refined as a Yugo. It's a total disgrace how much effort was NOT put into improving the graphics and sound in this game..

Yeah but back in the day for the sega genisis. I dreamed that I could play over a telephone wire against friends that I didn't want to invite over hahahhah

I love the XBLA version of Worms, too bad I already bought it for 800. At least this should help the lack of people playing online.

No interest in the other two.. Haven't even heard of Feeding Frenzy.

Actually guys, just a clarification. If you pre-ordered Banjo Nuts n Bolts, you got a code for the original Banjo on XBLA, and that went live on Tuesday.

Technnnnically...thats a new game...

Just a thought. I know it's not available to the general public, but it IS new and IS on the marketplace if you have the right code. Might wanna mention it...

Did you get the code? If so, what form was it in (i.e. email, paper, etc...)? The stores here didn't get Banjo until today, so I haven't picked up my pre-order yet.... but I've been worrying about the voucher because my Gamestop here never really seemed to know anything about it.

It won't be up for another 2 weeks for everyone else though, and I'm fairly sure MS will announce it then as a new game.

Won't get my code until Friday, unfortunately :(

I'm picking it up around 6pm tonight...so I can let you know then...

Well, that's about the time I'll be picking mine up too. I just hope they have some sort of voucher to give me when I pick it up. Since I have no idea how I was to receive the code I've been paranoid that Gamestop was going to email the code and I'd end up deleting it with the spam.

If you preordered you could have gotten the code a few days earlier. I got my code monday but it wasn't activated until early tuesday morning..and of course gamestop didn't get the actual game until today so I spent the better part of yesterday playing Banjo 1. Damn I forgot how awesome that game was.
