Halo 3 Vidmaster achievements unlock Recon

Exactly. Makes complete sense and pretty much what I was thinking. At least if it is true, it'll stop people from complaining about how to get Recon armor. Although, chances are, there will be a problem with it unlocking or something so there will still be arguing.

So, do you think Recon will have just the final 3 maps, or all 6?

I mean, if you have to wait until next fall for the complete maps anyway, it doesn't seem to make sense to buy the first three maps ahead of time.

Still, the $20 price premium for Halo Wars LE is a little steep for just the map pack. (Oh sure, extra stuff is nice, too, but honestly, how much do you use the "extras" that come with a game?)

So basically Bungie have made it so you not only have to buy the Mythic map pack for Halo 3 but then buy the Halo 3:Recon game when it comes out?

Talk about trying to milk the cow dry.

I imagine Recon will include all 6 "mythic" maps. It could also conceivably include Legendary and Heroic Map Packs on the disc as well (a la Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack disc). It's also not unreasonable to think that the last 3 maps (the ones being held back for Recon) would also be available on the Marketplace. Bungie has already said they would try to make the first 3 maps available "shortly thereafter on the marketplace" regarding their inclusion in Halo Wars LE.

Blame Microsoft, not Bungie. You can go back and read the latest weekly updates on Bnet and pretty much read the same thing - that Microsoft is making the decisions as to when and where the last 6 maps will be released and Bungie has little to no say in the matter. Bungie does not own the Halo IP, they are no longer owned by Microsoft and at this point they are still filling obligations doing Recon and the last batch of maps. Bundling the first 3 Mythic maps with Halo Wars LE is a Microsoft decision.

@AZB - You have to admit though that putting in achievements/rewards that require further purchases is a cheap trick.

God I miss the old days when you only had to pay for DLC for a while then it eventually became free. Much better business model.

I hear ya. I loved Halo 2 more than anything, played the balls off that game non-stop for months. So naturally I was incredibly excited for Halo 3, but once it dropped so did my interest.

I remember playing and thinking the whole time, "that's it?" The multiplayer maps are repetative and garbage, the story was just plain stupid, visually it looks identical to Halo 2. It was fun for about a minute but I was expecting more. Something. Anything.

It's more like Halo 2.5 than Halo 3. And I can't help but yawn at any and all Recon news lately. Big deal. Bungie managed to suck out any interest I had in this franchise somehow.

I hear ya. I'm so glad Bungie is dropping the Halo franchise and moving on to new and better things.

I agree with you guys, Halo 2 online was great but there are just too many games that have Halo 3 beat. This game WAS Halo 2.5

It wasnt that much of an improvement over 2, same map styles and in matchmaking I always get the same damn map, Narrows or Last Resort. If not BR its Shotty/Snipes. GAY.

It was nice to finish the fight I guess but this was nothing special.

I had so much fun with Halo 2. Not so much with Halo 3. I still want my freaking money back from that first map pack that I bought, and they did NOTHING with, and then made free a month later.

Wow look at all the Halo fanboys voting this particular conversation down. Heaven forbid anybody not only thinks that Halo 3 was a let down but then goes and says so in public.

Face it children Halo CE was brilliant as was Halo 2 but there is nothing in Halo 3 that to me justifies the time it took to make or the hype it generated. I played Halo 2 on Live from when it came out until Halo 3 came out. I then played Halo 3 for a month before I got bored with it. The campaign is boring and mulitplayers not much better. Here's hoping that with Halo 3:Recon they go back to the bare bones gameplay of Halo CE.

Vidmaster Challenge: Annual
After 9/25/08, complete Halo on 4-player Legendary LIVE co-op, with Iron, and everyone in Ghosts.

If you and 3 buddies can do this then you deserve Recon in my book.

But the thing about getting this achievement is when using Iron , it doesn't seen you back to the start like it does in single player, only to the last checkpoint. Its definitely alot easier than 1000/1000 to unlock Hayabusa armor.

Crazy Eyes...It really isn't that challenging. The first night me and three of my buds did this in about an hour. But, it is great fun. Driving the ghosts though the final part of the Halo level was some of the most fun I have ever had playing halo. I have helped other friends get the achievement too and I still look forward to playing it again.
