Though we're wary of its attempt to squeeze yet another barely pronounceable acronym into our gaming vocabulary -- the Multiplayer Online Action Real-Time Strategy, or MOARTS --
Kingdom Under Fire II looks to be the sword-swinging, troop-commanding sequel that fans of the franchise have been waiting for. That is, assuming the fans want a ludicrous number of warriors, dragons and cornrows viciously duking it out on fantasy battlefields. Never heard of it? Click this

After that, check out the new screenshots in the gallery or head past the break for the first offical trailer.
Kingdom Under Fire II is scheduled to arrive on multiple (albeit undisclosed) platforms sometime in 2009.

Whoa
Archangel004 @ Nov 13th 2008 3:24PM
nice looking game.. hope it's good!
Dirty @ Nov 13th 2008 3:29PM
Impressive, but because of the previous games, I remain skeptical.
RiccochetJ @ Nov 13th 2008 3:34PM
I loved KUF: The Crusaders and KUF: Heroes. Those two were some of my favorite games from last gen.
They got RTS controls for consoles right (yes I know it's a hybrid)
5th hot meal @ Nov 13th 2008 3:35PM
Well if that was all in game footage then I am well and truly gobsmacked.
Rein @ Nov 13th 2008 3:36PM
Heh, "footage." Heh. Heh. Geddit? The screenshot? Foot? Ahhhhhhh...
...I'm done >_>

Impressive in game movies.

It looks like there are some portions of live rendering in there.

Not only beautiful...but further proof that white people should not ever wear cornrows.
Incidentally, while it has nothing to do with this game, that ethos also applies to dreadlocks.
PranaFerox @ Nov 13th 2008 3:51PM
Nice to see Ludwig thinking outside the box with his puns.
KUF-link?
Brilliant.

How come nobody runs out of the way of the stompy thing? I feel like even if I was fighting with some dudes, we'd all break and run to avoid getting stepped on.
Biff_McFresh @ Nov 13th 2008 4:15PM
I hear you. Even if we are enemies with different views and trying to kill each other, there would be some solidarity in regards to getting the fuck out of the way of death by stompage. I'd assume we'd just continue our battle away from the stomp zone. Seems like a fair idea that even the biggest of rivals can agree on.
BigD145 @ Nov 13th 2008 5:13PM
It must be a linear game. You can only move forwards, not side to side.
Zumer Khalis @ Nov 13th 2008 3:58PM
I have no doubt that most of this video is gameplay footage. It doesn't look that much better than how great the first games looked on xbox.
-I am fully sold. KUF: Crusaders was the reason I bought an Xbox to begin with. Awesome real time war strategy that requires more than just a badass hero. The sense of tactics required actually makes this game challenging.
I do hope they added some story animation this time, though. The pushpin map navigation between battles was kind of weaksauce.
J.Goodwin @ Nov 13th 2008 4:16PM
Is this the fourth KuF game? I've wanted to check these out for a while.
RiccochetJ @ Nov 13th 2008 4:27PM
Nope, this is the fifth. The first was true rts for the pc, then came Crusaders and Heroes for the xbox. Next was the dungeon crawler for the 360.
Highly recommend checking out KUF: The Crusaders. You can find it cheap and it's on the 360 backwards compatibility list.

Very little actual in game footage I suspect.
Jake11- Born and raised in W. Philly @ Nov 13th 2008 6:54PM
i really liked crusaders, but this one looks like its going to kick all kinds of ass. wasn't MS the publisher for the KUF series?
mutd1999 @ Nov 13th 2008 7:23PM
I'm curious to know why that huge army isn't defending it's castle from the INSIDE...instead of getting raped outside the walls. lmao
turkeybaster @ Nov 13th 2008 9:32PM
I think this trailer is how every KUF player envisioned the game should have been. I hope they can pull it off. (Throw a bone to PS3!)
Gavin @ Nov 14th 2008 11:17AM
The only problem I had with the original was the occasional train wrecking of army controls. Specifically, setting straifing patterns for archers on horse back, while moving infantry, and summoning (and targeting) air support.
For me, it just got unplayable by the second unlocked campaign
