PSA: Persona 2 reprint exclusively on Amazon

While the prospect of ever seeing an official, localized release of Persona 2: Innocent Sin remains bleak, those who missed the second chapter, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, when it was first released on PlayStation (yes, PS1) eight years ago, now have a second, albeit seriously limited chance to score a copy of the reprint. Bet you never thought you'd be buying a brand new (and full-priced!) PS1 game again, did you?

To commemorate the December 9th release of Persona 4, Atlus has announced an "ultra limited" reprint of Persona 2, including a bonus disc featuring the trailer and a video interview with the developers, to be sold exclusively through Amazon.com and Amazon.ca.

When, you ask? ~~Right now!~~ Sold out!

That's awesome. Seriously, the wait for Persona 4 is killing me. Of all the new games that came out so far, this is the one I want the most.

... it's already sold out. Jumped from like #3000+ on the sales list to #43.

I've heard conflicting stories. Will this play on a brand new, just off the shelf PS3?

All PS3s play PS1 games. It's only PS2 games where you have differing levels of BC.

According to the Atlus email, it said it works on PS3s. Since the emails came out today, it's highly likely that they will work on new PS3s.

Whoah! In just 2 hours since I got that email (2:11) the game is already sold-out, never underestimate hungry fanboys.

The same thing happened to me, but then it briefly came back into stock and I was able to order one. Keep checking if you're desperate...

This is cool and all, but why don't they just sell the game as a download on PSN for the majority of us that won't be able to score this? The lack of PS1 downloads in the US PSN store (or pretty much every region outside of HK and Japan) is really frustrating.

Japan has about a million PS1 games on PSN. No lie, I'm jealous as fuck. I want MGS1 and Policenauts.

You know, I still see near mint copies of Persona 2 at gamestop everytime I go.

If you see them for under $40, then you should grab 'em and flip 'em. Getting new sealed copies like this for $39.99 is (was) a nice opportunity.

wow between the time I clicked the link to open the page, walked away from my desk to help a co worker for about 5 minutes came back tried to add it to cart and they were sold out.

I have no idea what this game is, but that's awesome. A brand new PS1 game?! Freaking sweet.

Um, then you should hop on Amazon, because it's $18.99 new.

According to the guy at EB (who is not a douchebag, oddly enough), Final Fantasy 8 and 9 are still being produced. I don't know about Chronicles and Anthology, I see those everywhere, but I don't think they are....So if you want a copy of 8 or 9, just go ask for one. Most stores don't put up PS1 games, but they do have them somewhere under the desk.

As of 5pm Eastern, Amazon is not sold out. Maybe they upped the quantity available on their servers?

Holy crap I'm glad I jumped on this. 'Course now I'm sitting here refreshing over and over for my tracking number.

Also, to the couple of guys up there, Amazon currently has FFVII, IX, Anthology (V & VI), Chronicles (IV & Chrono Trigger), Origins (I & II), and Chrono Cross in stock, all for $19.99 or less. No FFVII, unfortunately though.

That first FF should be FFVIII, of course, lost an I somewhere. Crap.

Big News! Big news! Well ... I guess it's big news -- Amazon just updated, it seems like they are getting more copies on November 15!

So, if you missed the copies today, put an order in!

nevermind ... looks like it's sold out -- again. It made it's way up to #12, though!

They're back in stock, so you can add them to your carts and hope for the best again!

I just checked the site for the hell of it again and they'll have more copies in stock on the 15th or 16th. So I ordered myself copy.

dang i missed it... acually i never played any of the Persona series... does the story continue or different from each part?

Only P1 and the P2 games are related. P3 and P4 are completely different characters and stories, but P4 makes some cameo references to P3.

So basically, its gone now. They don't even have new ones listed on Amazon.com ATM. Nothing about being sold out or anything.

Anyone else as pissed as I am ATM? Gone in less then 2 hours and no knowledge about it at all. I don't watch my email every second of everyday and because of that, I get f-ed over. :not terribly happy ATM: They should have sent out those emails long before Amazon put them up for purchase. At least give people a chance.

Anyway, how the heck was it listed? If Amazon itself has it for sale, they at least tell you its out of stock. I almost doubt this stuff was up for sale as there is no proof it was up on Amazon.com.
