Behold! Here I am, albeit a day late and a dollar short! I understand there is a Mario-related debate that needs some mediation. *Ahem*

The answer, of course, is 44. You must collect 44 coins in level 1-4 of Super Mario Bros. 3 to make the white toad house appear. Consider this matter settled. Thank you, and good day.

Wasn't this also a Game and Watch game?

Speaking of which, one of the Game & Watch Gallery 4 guides at GameFAQs said that the Octopus music carried the Popeye music as a background, or something like that (obviously not the trademark-y tune(s), mind). To look at it (and generally hear it), *video changes in background, causing semi-startlement* I think of Burgertime (one of the few games for Intellivision that I spent any considerable time on).

Man, the last level looks like an Atari 2600 game.

I played that a LOT on the Colecovision. Given how stiff that version was, I think I'd even settle for the NES version on the Virtual Console.
