Sometimes, I wonder what it would be like to be really into World of WarCraft. I've considered subscribing before since the game world looks really interesting and I'm a fan of the WarCraft RTS games, but I always manage to resist the urge.
wickedpheonix @ Nov 13th 2008 4:19AM
Resist, and get EVE instead :)
I'm kinda scared to see what the sales numbers on this are going to be. I mean, I don't recall credit card servers going down for Halo launches, for example...

Same as almost every other MMORPGs honestly, only reason I think it did any better than others is because it's got Blizzard's name on it. I'm sure you could have the exact same game mechanics, but not in the Warcraft world and I doubt it would have gotten any more popular than any other MMORPG.

If you plan on playing it casually, are willing to enjoy a social aspect more than the game itself and have a disposable $15/month you don't care about, it's up your alley.
If you have any intent of actual gaming, as in, you're interested in strategizing and teamwork, it's a complete waste of time. It would've been great if it wasn't revamped every few months to ingratiate and cater to newbies who were scared of playing anything outside of bargain-bin Mahjong but heard "WoW was fun".

its true my store in cali went down around 9 :(

Christ, look at all those pasty people. This is probably the longest they've been away from their precious game.
UltimateQ @ Nov 13th 2008 4:32AM
I'm pasty, are you trying to imply that I play World of Warcraft? :)

Why do you think games release at midnight? It's because direct sunlight on many of us gamers would simply destroy us with our cottage cheese complexion.

I just went to walmart to get mine waited in like for 15 min. This is coming from someone living in South Florida. Heard there was huge lines outside gamestops and off to walmart I went.

I did the same thing for Burning Crusade. All my friends waited in the freezing cold outside gamestop to pick up their pre-orders. I casually walked into Wal-Mart at midnight, grabbed a copy which they had a ton of, and some pop tarts, then went home to play.
"errrr, u didn't pre-order lolz... good luck getting it at midnight!!!"
hahahahahaha
Riley @ Nov 13th 2008 11:18PM
yeah, but half the fun of midnight releases is the social aspect, i've gone to a few with my friend when i wasn't even buying the game, they're a lot of fun, the local gamestop employees are a lot of fun

This makes me glad that I paid for my two copies of the collector's edition the day before the launch night event.
Alexisonfire @ Nov 13th 2008 2:23PM
Unless WotLK attacked reeeaaaly fast, I think you have the durability loss a little too soon in the combat text.

I work at Gamestop, and it sucked. I had to call for validation for EVERY single card. Each validation call takes like 5 minutes and requires you input about 30 digits with a touch tone phone. And, if you screw up, you have to start over completely. Out of the 150 copies we sold, I'd say half of them were paid for with credit/debit cards. Freaking dorks and their WoW.
