Typically, developers don't start apologizing for how short their games are until they're released. But Sucker Punch creative director Nate Fox is ahead of the curve, talking quality over quantity before inFamous even has a release date, citing games like God of War and GTA IV as titles that left people wanting more.
"It seems to me that it's not about length, but about quality," Fox told Eurogamer. "And because I love both of those games, I hope that developers never try to shoot for a long game, but instead for the most fun they can pack onto the disc - at any length. That's what we're doing for inFamous."
The way we see it, discussing the game's length this early could only mean one thing: inFamous will only be 27 minutes long, 30 if you get all the trophies. You heard it here first.

Could they start by giving the game a better quality title, then?

Methinks ET could benefit from a little Mario hat.

4 hour games are absolutely fine by me... as long as they're $15-20 downloadables and not $50-60 full retail releases.
As long as this game is somewhere near 10 hours then eh, that's not too bad. I've definitely played games that were too long. (IMO about 15 hours is usually the sweet spot.)

This pretty much 100% confirms this game as a rental. I already predicted it's going to be mediocre, but a short game that's supposedly a sandbox too? That's telling me that not only is the main story is short but that there's not much to do in the bonus areas either.
78 Metacritic average. You saw it here first :D

I know all about the game so far and I stand by what I said. It's likely going to be a very mediocre game and also a short one at that.

SuckerPunch should have spent the past two years making another endearing Sly Cooper game, instead of this overly-short pseudo-mature graphics-porn.

Wow Evan you really sound bitter. Read the actual interview. They talk about Sly Cooper. It seems this article is more flame bait (surprise?) then what was actually said in the interview.

Are we being tools here, Joystiq!? That guy just said, relatively short games could be high quality too..
As for replayability, this game is gonna reek of replayability.. Character evolution(decision based progression), Lots of side missions, i.e, saving citizens of Empire City,etc.. Its gonna be an awesome episode, and for the next time lets read the whole damn thing before we "copy-paste" some info..
See you later Ha"y"ters!!..
P.S. Apart from this article, I love ya silly motherfuckers!! :D

I spent 35$ on Rune Factory and and I have gotten more playtime on that game than all of my Xbox 360 games which were 60$! (obviously excluding online play).
I like games that are long because they have a lot of content, not long because you have to level grind (cough*dragon quest*cough).

After reading the whole interview, my interpretation of this was that Fox was arguing against packing extra garbage into the game for the sake of adding hours. You know, like meaningless fetch quests and tedious item-collection challenges. He doesn't say a thing about how long the game will actually be.
It's a good interview. I'm going to be keeping an eye on this game.

Better have a lot of re-playability if you want my $60. The only thing I'll pay that much for that consists of a couple minutes of fun is.... never mind

Couldn't agree with him more. It really bugs me the way games are padded out with so much filler simply to make them longer!
I've lost count of the number of games i've had a blast with at the beginning, only for them to devolve into repetitive timewasting. SO MANY games could have been massively improved by some judicious editing*.
I think ALL the games I've enjoyed recently have been reasonably short, but they've all had good pacing and not felt like filler. (Portal, HL Episodes, World of Goo, Braid, etc.. )
(*I'd kill for Final Fantasy 6 with all the stupid random battles cut out, phantom hourglass without the repetitive bits, and Okami with all the filler cut out...)
