He says the sun came out last night. He says it sang to him.

I really want to say something funny about how disturbing the above image is, but between the constant dry heaves and sickly burps, I can't think of anything good.
John Z @ Nov 14th 2008 2:54PM
Next time, take some dramamine before playing Mirror's Edge, dude. Damn.
(hope you're feeling better.)
Mr Khan @ Nov 14th 2008 2:42PM
A good idea to combine "This Week in Joystiq" with the podcast
Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword was the name of that game, btw. I believe Krome Studios made both of them, but i'm not sure

My John Davison love has forced me to listen to this. Does this mean he wasn't available for 1UP Yours...
SAGExSDX @ Nov 14th 2008 3:03PM
isn't Shane Bettenhausen also not available for today's 1up yours? Sounds like a thin show. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE JOYSTIQ PODCAST
Donald @ Nov 14th 2008 10:12PM
John was on Yours this week as well, making him some sort of podcast ironman.
NukeAssault @ Nov 14th 2008 2:58PM
John Davison rules! Cant wait to listen. =D
Tez @ Nov 14th 2008 3:18PM
Holy crap, look at Justin's mane. Those lengthy, wavy locks.... Somebody needs to do a Lion King 'chop post-haste.

Wow guys, that sucks, technical difficulties definitely won this round.
I am disappointed we missed out on the discussion regarding James' CoD post. I assumed you would talk about that and had been looking forward to your takes on it and the community reaction.
XGM @ Nov 14th 2008 4:59PM
Failcast is fail.
Shagittarius @ Nov 14th 2008 5:12PM
You guys are VERY mistaken if you think the PC scene is fading.
Shagittarius @ Nov 14th 2008 5:30PM
Also too much information about childrens games. We're hardcore here! Kids are for pussies.
Zertoss @ Nov 14th 2008 5:48PM
PC gaming has it's tides, it ebbs and flows. Last time we got into a lull, online gaming took off and before that, 3D acceleration turned everything around.
I, for one, can't wait to see what turns the tides this time around. (SPOILER: It won't be DRM)
ogvor @ Nov 14th 2008 5:40PM
PC gaming will never completely fail, it'll just retool itself. A couple of reasons:
One: Hardcore gamers who become programmers don't like making Harry Potter games and will at some point in their career go to a Stardock/Valve like company and make awesome computer games.
Two: Everyone has PCs! PC gaming may split along the lines of the decidedly hardcore (Valve) and the super broad (Battlefield: Heroes, Spore), but as long as their is money to be made, their will be PC games.
Three: PC gaming still has some intrinsic advantages to consoles, one being that when you purchase a PC your getting a lot of other useful features (web browsing, word processor, photo editor, etc.) and lots of free games and content. Valve is making mods a bigger part of Steam for a reason; free content that Valve does't have to pay for. They get the initial money from people buying their products and customers get lots of free games!
Brian @ Nov 14th 2008 5:53PM
So, did John Davison make any asinine comments about the state of PC gaming in this podcast too, or will we have to wait for this week's 1Up Yours for him to show the depths of his ignorance again?
sorensilk @ Nov 15th 2008 1:46AM
Wow. That was a craptastic podcast. I enjoyed it anyway though.
Sokkratez @ Nov 15th 2008 2:37AM
John is such an ignorant twit when it comes to talking of the PC gaming market. First last week on Yours and now on Joystiq. Stop spreading your misinformation around as fact. The only people who use Steam are the super hardcore? There are over 15 million users. They sell casual games. They sell PopCap games for less than PopCap does. Peggle's 50% cheaper.
It's fine to stay silent or shrug your shoulders during a conversation if you don't know what to say. I'd prefer it, actually.
bobjones @ Nov 15th 2008 3:48AM
If you guys want to see the true depth to John Davison's ignorance, look no further than this thread which breaks down into detail every asinine comment he and the others made on last week's 1up yours:

Honestly, John doesn't look anything like I envisioned him to be. Actually he kind of looks like a douche. Well, I like John well enough, but at least now I can picture his face when he starts rambling about something he has no idea about.
MowDownJoe @ Nov 15th 2008 3:27PM
Justin McElroy is SO FAT...
Audience: How fat is he?
He's so fat, he belly-flopped into his podcast and caused a buffer overflow!
...I had a better joke there.
Justin McElroy @ Nov 15th 2008 7:12PM
Better joke or any joke?
I got one for you. Justin McElroy is SO fat because he gets paid to sit around and write about video games, so have fun reorganizing Tokio Hotel T-shirts at the Hot Topic tomorrow.
...Crap, that wasn't a joke either.
Edog Lost @ Nov 17th 2008 2:26AM
OH SNAP. You got served son.
Dr. @ Nov 16th 2008 1:59AM
Best episode ever.
halcyonTwilight @ Nov 16th 2008 2:03AM
I think teh intertubes were jammed with spam emails when you guys were doing the podcast. Hopefully they'll get some internet plumbers in there to clean it up before next podcast.
I'm glad to hear that even kids don't like Wii Music. Too bad it won't stop it from selling like cinnamon-covered hotcakes.
Clay @ Nov 20th 2008 2:05PM
This podcast was super awkward. Justin's interview with John in the second half was great - one of the best segments on a Joystiq podcast yet. However when John was on the "main show" with Chris and Ludwig there was this awkwardness like "We don't know what to do.. John Davison is here..." that I couldn't stand. Chris dominated the conversation as always and since John is a polite man and doesn't generally interrupt others, he hardly got a chance to talk. Justin on the other hand was actually asking him questions and giving him a chance to talk. It became clear through this episode that Justin McElroy makes the Joystiq Podcast. I enjoy listening to Ludwig and love his sense of humor, but I just realized that while I like the dynamic with Chris Justin and Ludwig all together, without Justin to interrupt him Chris just drones on forever about nothing - it's like he is trying to fill the empty spaces in the conversation by blathering on about nonsense that nobody cares about.
So yeah Justin has great podcasting skills, Ludwig has a great sense of humor, and I've always loved what great perspective John Davison brings to nearly every conversation. Chris is entertaining but needs someone to reign him in otherwise he doesn't stop talking.
