Am I insane, or is that a screenshot from the latest Brothers in Arms?

Regardless, I enjoyed World at War (and still am). The multiplayer is just as addicting as COD4's was, and the Zombie mode is a nice touch.

Eh, it's an honest mistake, really. It would have been truly embarrassing if it was a screenshot from, like, Hour of Victory.

Single player? Don't you mean co-op?

That alone would make me pick up this game. Imagine CoD4's campaign with co-op...

Yeah, single, for the ch33voz and to unlock the Zombie mode :D

Sorry man I woulda got in with ya last night but mah buddy and I are playing Gears 2 campaign on Insane. Hot damn is it badass when Reavers land right in front of you walking around reeking havok. Chaos emerges everywhere without any framerate drops. Too damn awesome!

After we beat it then we're gonna be doing some co-op on COD: WaW.

Zombie mode is all the rage this year. Its the new black.

Call of Duty: World at War
World of Warcraft
Grand Theft Auto IV
Left 4 Dead

...and Halo 3 has a zombie mode (Infection), and RE5 is coming out soon. Man...that is a lot of zombies!

I'm having to ask for this for Christmas, as I have spent so much lately but I cannot wait to play it. I had a ton of fun on COD 3 though I don't know why everyone dogs it so much. Nothing better than stealing the flag and having a buddy pick you up in the motorcycle and flying around the map in the side car!

Yeh, and am I the only one that the game actually got to feel sorry for the Germans? When you've made it into Berlin as a Russian that is. :(

No you arent! I think that Chernov ( or whatever his name was ) was supposed to do that.

Especially when the Germans were surrendering in the train station and Reznov made you shoot them..

I liked the beta and it's nice to see it getting some good reviews, but I just can't get excited about WWII anymore, especially in a FPS game. Maybe I'll pick this up later.

My thoughts exactly. I'm looking at the scores and seeing 90s, but I still can't manage to think anything but 'eh'.

After being overloaded in 2007, I think will fill my limited desire for a 2008 FPS with Left 4 Dead and just call it a year.

Although my love for this game is like a truck, I definitely agree that for most of us, a change is necessary...I didn't touch Medal of Honor or BIA:HH this year just to save myself for this game, and so far I have been pleased. Have you had a chance to play the L4D demo yet? I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed with it. It rocks!

The Left 4 Dead demo almost made me piss myself.

Buddy and me decidedto be asshats and put the difficulty on "expert" (the highest they had on the demo) and it was crazy. Just as bad if not worst than Gears' insane mode. Just..zombies..everywhere..it was like a gang rape on my body. :(

No big deal if they keep making them...

COD2 Xbox360 = GOOD! (Buy)
COD: WaW = GOOD! (Buy)

BIA: HH = MEH (No Buy)
Medal of Honor Airborne = MEH (No Buy)

COD3 = Decent (Rent)

Not that difficult.

So far, this game has validated my faith in Treyarch in every way possible. Back when Call of Duty 3 came out, so many folks jumped on Treyarch for being "incompetent", not realizing that CoD3 was shoved out the door almost literally in 11 months. This game so far has exceeded even my expectations. Excellent work, Treyarch!

Glad to see that this actually did turn out to be a good game.

It's only such a good game because it's using INFINITY WARD'S CALL OF DUTY 4 ENGINE. Sorry, I had to say it. It's the plain truth. Infinity Ward still holds the ball.

No, but I doubt Bioshock would have been NEARLY as good if they made their own in-house engine. IE: World at War likely would have blown if they made their own engine. Besides, there's a difference between using an engine that's generally meant to be licensed off and just taking off another team from the same developer. Even Quantum of Solace...still under Activision, made by Treyarch. Aside from it's shortness, good game MAINLY because of the solid foundation it was built upon.

Played the beta for the PC for about 20 minutes. Uninstalled it immediately after that. The game was terrible even in it's "beta" release, which we all know damn well is a fucking demo nowadays.

But really, this game isn't going to be getting my $65 and some-odd cents.

(anecdotal evidence warning)

My roommate got it, he loves 4, but can't stand 5. Boring and repetitive, he says. He tried to "return" it to GameStop, and they said they'd give him $25 used, so now he's just sticking with it

Though my fascination with the Soviet Union makes it fun to watch certain parts

Still not the slightest bit interested.

Using those shitty old weapons after enjoying some Modern Warfare would be like going back to dial-up and a Pentium1.
Not gonna happen.

What about a history-based game where you play as an FPS player, but in the mid-1990s?

Pings over 20.
Models with under 2 million polys.
That awful modem dialup noise.

Scary.

Theres a lot of people who enjoy oldschool muscle cars even though theres new high tech sweet ass monsters like the new SS Camaro, Hemi Dodge Charger, Saleen Mustang, etc...

I think I actually like the Thompson more than the P90 :) Definately sounds better.

The older weapons are what actually make it interesting.

Plus releasing the hounds in place of the carpet bombing is a nice touch in multiplayer. It's great to follow the dogs and get some nice cheap shots as the other team panics and runs into corners.
