So what happens when G4 gets two guys to break sh*t? Well, you get an interesting experiment to see which console is the most durable. The PS3, 360 and Wii are all put to the test in an incredible test of physical endurance. Which one comes out on top? Thankfully, the PS3. Considering the machine costs at least $400, we're glad to see it able to take such abuse. In last place? Well, just watch the video.
they should have tested it with a disc after each round instead of just plugging it in. I would like to see how well the drives would hold up through that too
I have been pampering my PS3. But it only took one crash of GTA4 to kill my bluray drive though. I can't read disc media since then. Good thing it's still under warranty so I'll have to send it in.
Yeah, I miss techTV and all the old show about VIDEO GAMES now all I really ever see on there is unbeatable banzuke, ninja warrior, and cops :|, oh and of course attack of the show, and xplay. I miss Sarah Lane :( and Kevin Rose.
A more robust test could have simply included flipping the power switch on the back while it is writing to the hard disk. I love my PS3, but I cringe every time it locks up enough that holding down the power button on the front won't shut it down.
What? Why do you care. Regardless of the fact it's experimentation to achieve practical results, them smashing up ps3s and wiis isnt gonna make anyone who can't afford one any more able, nor is it going to be any more difficult for those who care to get one.
LOL the Xbox 360 went out first with just one hit! That is cool that the PS3 is the strongest console, but I still think this is a stupid show that should be on the Discovery Channel instead of G4. I miss the old G4 when they were about video game and nothing but video games.
I dropped my PS3 down the stairs! In it's original box admittedly, but it still bounced down the stairs about 2 weeks after i got it, my heart sank I nearly cried, but it still works fine!
Shows you get what you pay for.
Are all PS3's so noisy though? I mean mine's an original 60gb, with all the reverse compatability and USB ports and card readers so I'd never swap it for a new one, but it's properly noisy, like annoying while watching Blu rays noisy.
hmmmmm, perhaps a new cooling unit / fan or something?
Yup, I've hoovered the sucker a few times. It doesn't get particularly hot, blows hot air out of the back but the console it's self doesn't get too hot. It's just noisy, sounds like either a fan or the BR drive.
I may well give it another hoover when I get home tonight, it does live in a room with dogs and smokers so it can't do it much good. Got 3 years insurance on it, but don't wanna new one without all the cool features.
I was thinking you should buy a compressed air duster and try and blow stuff out of the PS3 using that. Start from the front and try and blow stuff out the back.
oh, and don't worry about the air compressor damaging it, back when the house was being renovated there was dust everywhere, so i blowed it out everyday to prevent a dust buildup from the plaster, it works really well, i was surprised at how well the ps3 channels air
