Did they not put it in the more logical bottom of the controller because they didn't want people to think they copied Microsoft?

Nope it's probably because it wouldn't fit correctly and because the USB attachment is at the top. Everyone who has a PS3 just uses their computer keyboard anyway. Not that proprietary BS headset, wii speak and messenger pad.

I assume the plug in for the thing is on top so that probably is why the pad goes there. The 360 one is on the back/bottom of the controller. I don't own/need/want the 360 version but it does look better to use than this. Now if I had a PS3 I'd go ahead and buy this since it is a 10 year console ; ^)

Sony needs a redesign on their controller. After everyone hated the boomarang, they just gave up and used pretty much exactly what they used for ps2. The controller already isnt very ergonomic, the chat pad just makes it worse.

The Dreamcast controller was ergonmic. So was the N64 pad. So was Xbox, and Xbox 360.
The ps2-3 controller is not. This is not a matter of opinion, its fact.
Everything else is a matter of opinion, you cant really say its "wrong." Thats you saying "My favorite color is black" and me saying "no its not."

Having your hands at different angles is a key part of ergonomics. Look at an ergonomic keyboard. its designed so that your hands are at an angle. This makes it harder to get Carpal Tunnel syndrome. All of the controllers I listed are designed to make your hands angled, possibly for that very reason. With the ps3 controller, your hands are even. Thus, its not ergonomic.
If you still deny this, Im not even going to bother responing. My troll-dar is already going crazy.

Id like to point out that you cant use a keyboard and a controller at the same time either, so to have one that literally attaches onto the controller you already have to hold is more convenient than having a separate keyboard.

You see people with a PS3 have no need for proprietary HDDs, headsets & messenger pads. We just our pre-existing stuff.
The beauty of the PS3 is that it is compatible with pre-existing devices we already own. As in headsets, laptop HDDs & keyboards.
But i'm so tempted to buy it simple for the logo ... what a fanboy I am ... yuk yuk ...

Expect sony to announce the ps4 in the spring of 2009 which also calls the end of the ps3. Expect most 1st party titles for the ps3 to move to the ps4."
If you don't think the ps3 lost by now, Then you are truly the Mindless Sheep that sony strips its wool off year after year.. It's almost impossible to catch the 360 right now. Especially that the ps3 install base is divided by people that want a blu-ray payer, and people that want a "Playstation". Reason being, gamers want a console that plays GAMES. "Chough!! 360, Cough!!"
No BLOG want's to talk about the attach rate of the ps3, because the truth will hurt. Most of my friends have all three consoles, with the 360 as the Primary game console, the Wii for parties and the kids, and the ps3 as a blu-ray player. And that's the TRUTH. And I'm sure they're not the only ones.. My boss has a ps3 ONLY for blu-ray. He has NO GAMES at all for it... But his 360 has a game library!
Just fess up already.. blu-ray won the hd battle... Some of ya'll can admit that you copped a ps3 for a blu-ray player. it's okay to break the hearts of the sdf..
