For anyone curious (like I was), a post on the RB forums clarifies that the DK tracks are the "Give Me Convenience" cuts and not the "Fresh Fruit" recordings. Which, imo, is a good thing.

That's cool for Uber Alles, but Fresh Fruit's Holiday was a much better cut. Just seems off on GMCoGMD, everything just starts in at once in a garbled intro. The mix is certainly better overall, but the structure of it all is pretty blah IMO.

Wait a tic... Is Uber Alles the same on GMCoGMD and the Fresh Fruit rerelease? The version on the Fresh Fruit rerelease is absolutely terrible, I sure hope it isn't the same.

I don't know, I think the GMCoGMD version works better for the game. I like listening to the Fresh Fruit version, but the extended intro wouldn't be that fun to play. :p

I could honestly go either way, but overall I think it's a good decision.

Ok, I'm not familiar with the albums, but I am familiar with the song. I like the version I had been introduced to, but I dislike the version featured on GH3. Which is which?

I could be wrong (someone can correct me), but I think the GH3 version is a cover of the Fresh Fruit version.

Yeah, it's a cover. A god awful cover at that. Who would think it would be a good idea to try and imitate Biafra's voice?!?

My dumb ass forgot it was a cover. Ha! Goes to show how long it's been since I fired up GH3. I really did think it was crap, though maybe that was just a case of the cover band chopping it up 'til it was bled dry. The Slow Ride cover had a fucked up arrangement, also, so...

Ohhh, I love me some Dead Kennedys, despite my usual distaste for Punk.

I wish they'd have their cover of Viva Los Vegas! I love their cover of it so much.

Listen to Holiday in Camobdia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcjzoydyQIY Then let your brain unscramble, wait a few days to let the discomfort and horror leave your system, then listen to it three times in a row. You'll be hooked.

I'm going to play the role of the music snob, and say that I'm really amazed at the music choices Harmonix makes. Mission of Burma were a post-punk band from Boston in the early 80's that have an awesome and original sound. From Bob Dylan to the Pixies to The Replacements, the guys have excellent music taste. It's a lot more interesting than to have the same old staples of classic rock (though i love classic rock). It allows the game's huge install base to be introduced to interesting music outside of the mainstream. One glance at the RB forum shows a bunch of people really digging 'Alex Chilton' who would've never heard of it otherwise.

Its awesome to see some Mission of Burma and Dead Kennedys stuff on there. "That's When I Reach For My Revolver" is actually one of the songs that I have always wished wold be in the game but never thought would make it.

"It's the suede-denim secret police...
They've come for your uncool niece"

OH my GOD... I was just thinking how great DK or The Cramps would be on Rock Band the other day. Those are quality DK songs too... One of my favorite bands from the 80s. Saw 'em twice on tour for In God We Trust, Inc. and Frankencrist. Nice one, Harmonix.

...Might I suggest a second DK pack with 'Let's Lynch The Landlord," "Moon Over Marin," and "I Am The Owl"?

Or maybe Agent Orange's "Bloodstains?" I know I always say that here, but...

I'll stop, you've done good work, and I will be happy for now.

OMFG, BLIND GUARDIAN used to be signed with Century Media!!! A lot of their best stuff was made under them! I can only hope!!! BG is my all time fave band!
Their signed with Nuclear Blast now, so IDK if the rights to the old stuff belong to CM, or NB.

*Head asplodes*

The Dead Kennedys.... just ultimate...

I see why they chose to do the Convenience cut of Holiday In Cambodia, it's neat and doesn't have that raking at the intro (decent to listen to but retarded to play). Personally, though, I've always preferred the Fresh Fruit version of California Uber Alles... the Convenience Cut is really just the original single, and it's all slow and lacking some cool snare rolls in the intro. Plus it doesn't show the true intensity of the band, hm? We need some "Plastic Surgery Distasters" for that to happen.

Riot, Moon Over Marin, Government Flu, I Am The Owl... SO MANY GOOD SONGS.

I just continue to be impressed with Harmonix's music choices compared to that 'other' company when it comes to variety. This is why RB won me over from GH a LONG time ago. Now if we could get some Flogging Molly, that'd be the icing on the cake (though I'm not sure how well it would translate into RB).
