Sweeter than an Orange Box: Valve 'Complete Pack' $99 on Steam
Although Orange Box Extreme might have been more apt, Valve's Complete Pack is a rather blatant title expressing what you'll get with the deal. For $99, the Complete Pack on Steam includes pretty much every one of the developer's titles, including its forthcoming Left 4 Dead.
The individual price of all the games on the service would be $235, but for those who aren't multiplayer fanatics, you probably wouldn't be buying half those titles anyway. It's still a great deal for those interested in grabbing or gifting the Valve library at a reasonable price.

I dig Valve.
Ryoga Vee @ Nov 14th 2008 7:16PM
+1 Dugg for Valve
Joe H @ Nov 14th 2008 7:11PM
This is a great deal. Too bad I already own everything other than L4D. (And in fact, was forced to buy Episode 1 and HL2 twice because of the damn Orange Box).
Meta @ Nov 14th 2008 9:55PM
That's still only $17 bucks each for 3 of the top games of the year.
Puffles @ Nov 15th 2008 4:11AM
What exactly do you mean by "too bad"? You'd rather NOT already own them, so that you could be $99 poorer?
Haggard @ Nov 15th 2008 11:27AM
Indeed, plus I gifted my spare HL2 and Ep1 to a friend which spurred him to get into Steam and TF2 etc.
Max @ Nov 14th 2008 7:14PM
Valve has offered this deal for as long as I can remember. It definitely gets more and more awesome as the years go by, though.
Marty @ Nov 14th 2008 7:24PM
As was stated by another above, it's too bad I already own most of these games... this is such a good deal!
ANTCEP @ Nov 14th 2008 7:24PM
works out at under $5 a game
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 14th 2008 7:27PM
Awesome! Still, nothing can hold a candle to the original Orange Box.
XLM @ Nov 14th 2008 8:00PM
HL2 Silver package not only held a better candle, it lit it.
IIRC:
Half-Life 2
Counter Strike: Source
Day of Defeat: Source
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
HL2: Lost Coast
Half-Life: Source
Condition Zero
Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes
Codename Gordon
Counter Strike
Half-Life
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Team Fortress Classic
Day of Defeat
Death Match Classic
Opposing Force
Ricochet
Gold Box rocked for Portal and TF2, but unless you didn't already have HL2 and the 2 quick HL2 episodes, it was a good deal, not great.
nuprotocol @ Nov 14th 2008 8:07PM
agreed!!!!!!!!!
Tom18230 @ Nov 14th 2008 7:57PM
Wow, I have the orange box on the xbox and TF2 on the pc. Definately buying this.
Anyone know how much space this monster takes up?
Also, see the games I already have, when I "rebuy" then, could I give them to people as a gift (or sell the originals?)
HenryH @ Nov 14th 2008 8:18PM
I suggest you buy this pack on a new Steam Account and give the old one away (Or sell it). :)
Evan_ARRRR @ Nov 17th 2008 10:40PM
Yeah, Valve will actually let you gift any title that you own on Steam that you get with the Orange Box to someone else's Steam account.
drsashamd @ Nov 15th 2008 1:15AM
Yeah Tom, you can give away any game you have as a gift.
I already had HL2, so when I bought Orange Box, I was given 1 gift and was able to give it to a friend of mine who didn't have it.
I assume you can do the same here.
Tom18230 @ Nov 15th 2008 8:32AM
Awesome then, I'll just give one of my friends TF2, Peggle Extreme, HL: Deathmatch and HL:Lost Coast. Nice.
Haggard @ Nov 15th 2008 1:22PM
Actually I think the HL2 and Ep1 thing is for people buying the Orange Box only. Apparently if you bought, for example, Just Cause and then later bought the Eidos Collector Pack, you wouldn't be able to gift your second copy of JC to a friend.
Biggie @ Nov 14th 2008 7:45PM
Why did this hit the news cycle? Yes it is a great value but it is hardly news, Valve has offered this product since the release of HL2.
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 14th 2008 7:55PM
You mean we could have had left 4 dead all this time??? Damn you for just telling us this now!
Slayer @ Nov 14th 2008 7:56PM
Well I never knew about this until now myself. So I would say there is plenty good reason for this to hit the news cycle.
Einhanderkiller @ Nov 14th 2008 7:59PM
It's newsworthy because Left 4 Dead was added to the list.
Biggie @ Nov 14th 2008 8:00PM
You is too smart for words... I'm just saying that fact that valve sells a bundle of all their games isn't really news. But it has had a positive effect for Valve, the Complete Pack is number 5 on the top sellers list. Can we say cha-ching!
Grant @ Nov 15th 2008 1:49PM
good thing left 4 dead isn't a high profile title and any sort of bundle of good games it's included in would garner attention or anything like that.... oh wait.
EmjayX @ Nov 14th 2008 8:18PM
wowww
Eh @ Nov 14th 2008 8:21PM
Still waiting for the bundle that doesnt have games that almost every FPS player already owns. Wheres the bundle that only includes portal/TF2/L4D? Or just TF2/L4D? I dont want to pay for games I bought years ago.
Haggard @ Nov 15th 2008 1:24PM
The orange box is $40, and you can buy L4D off amazon etc for a fair price too. Is your only excuse for not buying either of them that they're not in a slightly reduced bundle together?
Haggard @ Nov 15th 2008 1:25PM
*and standalone TF2 is $20
Bass Masterson @ Nov 14th 2008 8:36PM
Remember, when Microsoft bundles, it's a crime. When anyone else does it, it's TEH AWESOME!
MBO @ Nov 14th 2008 8:44PM
grammatical error.
CaramelZappa @ Nov 15th 2008 2:26AM
That's because when microsoft bundles. (See MS Office) it's impossible to get one of the programs you need without buying a ridiculously expensive package with the 4 other programs you don't need. When Valve bundles, you can still buy each game individually if you want but if you want to buy it all you get a better value.
M @ Nov 14th 2008 9:05PM
This makes me sad because I just bought Left 4 Dead and the Orange Box :(
Jeff @ Nov 14th 2008 10:08PM
Ouch...I think you should demand a refund for the games somehow.
Haggard @ Nov 15th 2008 1:26PM
When I've just bought the best game of all time, it takes more than that to make me sad.
M @ Nov 15th 2008 1:36PM
I just beat Portal last night. I must say that Portal alone was worth the $20 I paid for it.(physical copy, I bought Left 4 Dead through steam though) Then I got Team Fortress 2 on top of it, which was awesome.
Rhamsey @ Nov 14th 2008 9:15PM
oh, if i didnt own these games anyway, i would so get this
drsashamd @ Nov 15th 2008 1:17AM
Valve is absolutely in the top 3 of Best Video Game Companies in the world, regardless of system.
#28 @ Nov 15th 2008 2:25AM
AWESOME
CaramelZappa @ Nov 15th 2008 2:30AM
Great deal but Deathmatch Classic, the Day of Defeat games, and original Counter Strike are the only games on the list I don't already own.
I'm kind of a valve fanboy.
Tom18230 @ Nov 15th 2008 8:34AM
How much in £££s?
Haggard @ Nov 15th 2008 1:28PM
Including tax, about £78
Cal @ Nov 15th 2008 2:42PM
Damn the weak pound =(
t_m @ Nov 15th 2008 9:41AM
Love valve, but i'm not really into multiplayer games.
Assuming L4D isn't great in singleplayer, adding up the ones i'd actually play brought me to $95.
Also, i guess the orange box didn't work out so great for me. Played and loved Portal and HL2:Ep2 (and portal was worth the cash). But i've never used anything else in there...
capt_carl @ Nov 15th 2008 11:52AM
I think Valve should give credits to people who already own some of those games. I have a copy of Half Life 2 I can gift to somebody, but I also got in on the Valve Complete Pack years ago when Steam first launched. I think I've been a member since November 2003...
M @ Nov 15th 2008 1:38PM
Quick question to people that know:
If sometime in the future I buy the complete pack (when they've added more games) I can just gift any duplicates to friends, right?
Grant @ Nov 15th 2008 1:51PM
Worth it alone for Left 4 dead, portal, TF2, and peggle. But every other half-life and incarnation of it is totally awesome too.
Phillip @ Nov 15th 2008 3:51PM
What was that you said about HL2:E3? Oh, wait. Nothing. That's right. Nevermind.
phil shearing @ Dec 18th 2008 10:52AM
I just bought this off steam for £52.99 inc vat
i agree with above comments its a shame most of these games i have already but on its own l4d is £25 so an extra £25 or so for all valve games is a great deal!
bitch to download them all though! takes ages!
