We've all heard that life imitates art -- but we rarely hear of instances of life imitating video games (LARPing events notwithstanding). However, a certain 42-year-old Turkish citizen who recently decided to end his seven-year prison sentence prematurely must have been a sizable Metal Gear Solid fan -- using a five-foot by four-foot cardboard box set aside for stationary shipment, the Turk (whose name has yet to be revealed to the media) effectively mailed himself out of a German prison.
Police expect that the once-incarcerated man, who is still at large, had help both on the outside and the inside, though his fellow prisoners are remaining tight-lipped about his Solid Snake-esque evacuation. One of his accomplices reportedly spoke to authorities about the former inmate's other escape tactics -- one involved distracting his jailers with a bevy of nudie mags, while another required the man to wait for the prison's night guard to inexplicably announce his fatigue to his captivated audience.

OMG!! Is this actually true? If so its proof that hiding in a cardboard box actually works lol. But seriously this is hilarious. I love it.

I find that video of the NES Metal Gear to be remarkable.
I mean, the dude says, "I'M GETTING SLEEPY!!", whereas I was expecting a half hour discussion of what exactly that entailed. And the opening radio conversation barely lasted twenty seconds.
What is this concise abomination, and why does it has the Metal Gear name on it?

In my day, inexplicable one-liners were the equivalent of 90-minute cut scenes.

Naw, to be a true MGS escape, he'd have to fake his death using nothing but a bottle of ketchup and some rations.

And the American inmates are even really good at hanging on to each other.
All too frequently.
And roughly.

Silly Germans, how can you use prisoners as slave labor to feed the prison industrial complex if you let them escape?

It kinda bothers me that this man, whoever he is, is totally unaware that he won over a group of gamers from a distant country. He's a celebrity and he doesn't even know it.

This guy was extra smart. He had 2 boxes to choose from, and he didn't pick the one marked No Place for Hideo.

I'm guessing the guard's name is Johnny.
There is always a Johnny around every time somebody sneaks away from a jail or torture room in a trusty cardboard box.

Don't you hate it when you buy them a expensive toy and all they do is escape with the box?

I wonder if the guards even had a question mark over there head? Guess they didn't suspect a thing... What was that noise?
