Voice chat patch now available for Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
Though common golfing etiquette dictates that respectful silence should often be observed whilst "hitting the greens", Clap Hanz has included voice chat functionality in the latest patch for Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds -- a missing feature which many reviewers were none too happy about. While many of you will likely see this as a chance to jeer your opponents with finely honed "smack talk", we urge you to respect the cordial nature of the game. Perhaps your newly afforded vocality could be used for good -- by commending a fellow player on a nice shot, warning players ahead of an incoming ball with a resounding "Fore!", or by sharing the story of when you caddied for the Dalai Lama. Gunga Galunga!

There won't be any money, but on your deathbed you will receive total consciousness. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Sounds fun, but in the meantime play this game, for me it's the best game on the PS3, the online is perfection.
FlamingEffigy @ Nov 15th 2008 3:51PM
Well im so glad i got this bit of news, i mean finally i hear about a good game instead of all this fanfare around Gears, Fable, Fallout, etc.
Obviously no one cares about these other games, Hot Shots Golf is the only game worth my money these holidays.
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 15th 2008 4:06PM
It's all subjective. There are definitely people who care and saying that makes you no better than say...Lord Bowser on Today's RB Weekly News. Also Fallout 3 sucks. There, I said it.
The real problem here is that Joystiq sacrifices the ability to just copy-paste some "quick news" from their SEVEN SISTER SITES, for the sake of being able to put their own "spin" on it.Couple it with the single writer that bothers to post it on the weekend and viola!; whooping three-posts a day. Thus during these days, unimporant posts can be a problem.
FlamingEffigy @ Nov 15th 2008 4:10PM
I agree it is entirely subjective, and in all honesty i dont even know what the game is like so i cant judge, i was merely pointing out, in a sarcastic manner, the strange nature of a post about a game that i havent seen posted about on joystiq ever before.

Hot Shots golf OOB is a really fun golf game. It has also been supported with lots of DLC - character skins (Kratos!) & new courses for a reasonable price. It's a great game that can be picked up brand new for around $30.00 at Wal-Mart.
Jakka -
Fallout 3 does not suck. The game is a masterpiece ... In my humble opinion anyway
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 15th 2008 5:19PM
That's the magic of opinions. I'll admit that Capital Wasteland and overall art direction is one of the most "beautiful" I've seen in the past years( gore obsessed, canibalistic raiders that hang rotting corpses in their hideouts aside), however when it comes to the writing and story it ranks amongst the worst.
Wannabe-Emo-Vampire-Gang who somehow are "the victims" despite being a bunch of canibalistic psychopaths who murder people to drink their blood?
The fact that Arefu, people who ordered you to kill them in first place, become your enemies when you "do the bad thing" by doing exactly what they asked you?
Helping Roy and Ghouls live in Tenpenny then getting a negative karma hit when you kill them once you realise they murdered all the humans there?
Mad Max-esque village full of children who cannot be killed and who willingly rub it in your face by being a bunch of complete douchebags that are just begging to be shot multiple times?
Flaws such as being able to ask/know about things you shouldn't have known in first place, due to the game's sandbox nature?
Seriously?
If Bethesda left the quests, writing and bits of universe detail down to people who can actually write, say Bioware, this could've been the greatest game ever created in the history of mankind.

Oh, and btw here's a late spoiler alert:
SPOILER ALERT!

Wait, what?
By the way: Hot Shots Golf PSP is great game. Anybody who disagrees is a moron.

I got this game with my PSP and its sweet real awesome game.
Nice and fun and a good way to fill your time
zuburi @ Nov 15th 2008 4:35PM
It is more fun than the PS3 version, which is pretty sad. Out of Bounds was one of the biggest disappointments of 2008 for me. While not a bad game by any means, it falls far short of the PSP versions.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Nov 15th 2008 4:49PM
Except for the lack of dress-up, what's wrong with the PS3 one?
I really liked Open Tee (PSP game).
zuburi @ Nov 15th 2008 5:04PM
Lack of unlockables and limited courses is actually the main thing I disliked. Those things aren't a big deal to some people, but it was a huge deal breaker for me. I spent an incredible amount of time on the PSP versions, and still break them out once in a while. Like I said, the PS3 one is a decent game, but I was incredibly disappointed in it. It was baffling that the PSP version had more features!
I'm hoping that the next one is more like the PSP series, especially since I thought the PS3 version's graphics were great.
zuburi @ Nov 15th 2008 5:05PM
Oh, and the poorly-imitated accents in the PS3 version had me tempted to puncture my eardrum with a qtip!
why not the LS2LS7? @ Nov 15th 2008 8:16PM
The accents in PS3 version are indeed awful. The Japanese version of a Scottish accent is laughable.
I have both, and I like the PS3 version quite a bit. Not as much as the PSP, but still. My PSP has spent more than half its existence running that game.
I never tried Open Tee 2.
zuburi @ Nov 15th 2008 9:25PM
Actually, the Japanese versions never have those weird fake accents in them!
Feel free to add me to PSN if you want. Same name as the one here - I may dig out HSG and play a round with you if you'd like, and it'd give me a chance to use voice chat on my PS3 for the first time ever.
Blank-Mage @ Nov 15th 2008 4:45PM
I remember seeing a mod that let you play as Horo from the anime Spice and Wolf. Short of that, I don't care.
Alien Lord @ Nov 15th 2008 6:09PM
Why should anyone care about this as headsets aren't standard with PS3s.
Kspraydad @ Nov 15th 2008 7:21PM
Because you can use ANY headset with your PS3?
$10 USB Headsets
$10 BT Headsets
$50 Official Headsets
$30 PSEye
See...a wide range of price AND many people already own a USB or BT Headset.
Alien Lord @ Nov 15th 2008 7:55PM
Shitty ones which make you sound like shit.
Kspraydad @ Nov 15th 2008 8:03PM
From someone who's comment history reveals that 'they hate SONY' and who currently owns 3 Xbox's...I'll assume you don't have a fracking clue about which you speak.
Thanks for playing though...its always fun.
Blank-Mage @ Nov 15th 2008 11:46PM
Epic burn, +1.

@Jakka,
One of the main reasons I liked Fallout was because of the amount of completely random or weird stuff that I came across wandering the wasteland. I laughed at some people, got annoyed at some people, and became suspicious of some people.
I'm typing now because I like to hear the different ways people complete open ended quests.
I ended up befriending the vampire gang and convinced them to defend Arefu in exchange for blood.
After talking with the people of Tenpenny, and the ghouls, I realized that the ghouls were planning on killing everybody in the tower. I ended up choosing to kill the ghouls because I liked the old adventurer who lived in the tower (interestingly enough, because his character's dialogged was written in such a way as to appeal to me).
I never really wanted to kill the kids. They were kind of annoying, but lots of kids are.
*SPOILERS*
One of the coolest parts of the game for me was when I wandered in the vault with the virtual reality machine. I broke into the vault and though "cool, there is a vault hidden in this gas staton." Then after entering the VR machine I literally thought "uhh... ok. WTF is going on here?"
I never received the quest to go into the vault so I had to idea what to expect. Wandering into that gas station was one of the best game experiences I've had in a while.
Titanium_Orchid @ Nov 15th 2008 9:35PM
Dammit!
I think I took to long typing this that^ post
horngreen @ Nov 16th 2008 9:40AM
It's cute that the chat function in PS3 games have to be patched. Get a real online sevice.
