While the newly expanded descriptions of recent titles on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board site often serve as a pure source of unintended hilarity (See: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe's "exaggerated breast proportions and movement"), a recent news post on Gamespot points out another side-effect of the ESRB's newly developed long-windedness -- certain descriptions for titles, such as Fallout 3 and Resistance 2, contain a few minor plot spoilers.
There's no revelations of Keyser Soze-esque proportions in the descriptions for the titles listed above -- though they do reference specific moments in the game that prospective players may want to remain in the dark about. Consider yourself warned.

Exactly what I was thinking. Why is the internet making a big deal out of this? It's not like REAL gamers actually go to the ESRB web site to check on a game before they buy it. It's usually parents that do it for their kids, and if it is, it's not like the mom of little Billy will say "Hey Billy, Niko Bellic gets shot by Badman in Grand Theft Auto IV!"

hey it at least shows they put in some hours into Fallout 3! But one of moments the ESRB description details was quite a cool surprise and I'm glad I didn't know about it in advance.

I know this is off-topic but I just have to say this:
*SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE THAT HASN"T SEEN "The Usual Suspects"*
People talk about how great of a surprise ending the movie has, but I absolutely disagree. One of the best parts of a twist ending is that you don't see it coming the first time, but you were given clues throughout the movie so that if you were paying attention you *could* have seen it coming. The twist to the Usual Suspects came out of no where and there really was no way to tell who Keyser Soze really was.
I don't really know why I wrote all that, it just kinda came out. I'm not knocking the movie, its a good movie, but just not the "zomg best ending evar" people make it out to be.

Off-topic much?
And starting your comment with "I know this is off-topic" doesn't give you a free pass. Just giving you a hard time :)

I just recently watched the usual suspects because you know, I was 5 years old when the movie came out. I disagree with you completely. Unless someone else told you there was a twist ending there would be no way you could catch on who Keyser Söze really is.
It's a lot easier to spot the second time your watching it though.
WiredKnight, you get a minus for being a douche.

It may have already been pointed out, but why does it have both "blood and gore" and "intense violence" you don't need to write both, and if you didn't write both together it would save approximately 5 billion gigabytes, which would save enough power to offset global warming, way to continue making earth worse ESRB.

Besides the fact that the second half of your post seemed to make no discernible sense, "blood and gore" and "intense violence" are two completely different things. "Blood and gore" generally happens as the result of "intense violence" so they could be kept separate. For example, it's one thing to come across a dead body lying in a pile of entrails and a puddle of blood, and an entirely different thing to watch as a person is blown to bits effectively causing the bloody, entrails-covered corpse.

I don't think the people that these are intended to influence would make that much of a differentiation between the two. Though, in that particular case, I think the title alone expresses a propensity towards violence, and the blood and gore would likely lead one to believe that it was intense. However, best not to leave things too vague I suppose.

That is true, but name one game where you see blood and gore, but never witness intense violence.

with 5 billion gigabytes would save over 1.2 jigawatts of energy! ENOUGH TO POWER THE FLUX CAPACITOR AND GO BACK AND STOP THE ESRB!

Why waste a flux capacitor on the ESRB, when I could go back in time and kill my younger self, then find out what happens to me, thus solving a paradox of the space-time continium...

There aren't any spoilers in the Fallout 3 entry, unless it comes after the ellipsis. I fail to see the problem. Are other games' entries more plot- or theme-centric?

I would've liked to see the Fallout 3 descriptor point out that you do not have to complete said quest as they describe. They make it seem like something you're forced to do. I didn't complete it the other way, but it seemed there was the opportunity to. It doesn't seem too big of a spoiler though.
