Behold! It's the Guitar Praise trailer

Matthew 19:24 "Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Apparently, whoever crafted the trailer for Guitar Praise is really paranoid about getting in, because they don't want to look like they have one extra cent to spare. You can check it out right after the break.
Our favorite feature touted during the trailer? "If your friends are watching you shred, they can sing along." That's right, kids. Guitar Praise does not turn your living room into a vacuum in which no sound can travel. So don't even worry about that.

LOL! I like the midnight club ad before the trailer!
Erluti @ Nov 17th 2008 12:40PM
In the commercial's defense, that commercial is for parents who don't let their kids listen to the radio - it's not for us.
JPN @ Nov 17th 2008 1:27PM
I got Tomb Raider!
shawn mccollum @ Nov 17th 2008 3:35PM
My ad was for tomb raider underground with the line "I need a hammer to kill a god".
copa @ Nov 17th 2008 12:37PM
Thanks, but I'm waiting for the Guitar Praise: Faith +1 standalone expansion.

TIP THE GUITAR TO ACTIVATE HOLY POWER!!!
Haggard @ Nov 17th 2008 12:41PM
I've definitely heard of every single one of those bands.
aristokrat @ Nov 17th 2008 10:38PM
I haven't, but who doesn't want to know more about a band with an awesome name like "Family Force 5." Sounds like a bad anime fell out of the Disney channel and decided to form a band.
Simple @ Nov 17th 2008 12:53PM
Am I the only one who hopes that someone sues them?
LiqwidZero @ Nov 17th 2008 12:51PM
It doesn't really matter. For some reason, churches have more money than Bill Gates, yet they still ask for your money.
Douches.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 17th 2008 1:01PM
"For some reason, churches have more money than Bill Gates..."
Yeah, it's called 'Tax Exemption'.
LiqwidZero @ Nov 17th 2008 1:03PM
When I went to church, a woman donated her diamond ring, and it was appraised for $1,000+. The church wouldn't even give it back to her. All they said was "thanks."
SoxFan13 @ Nov 17th 2008 1:07PM
I work at a church, and we definitely don't have more money than Bill Gates, or even Archie Gates. We get paid based on people's generosity.
Why should they get sued-- because they've introduced Christianity into a popular video game genre?
LiqwidZero @ Nov 17th 2008 1:10PM
@ SoxFan
That was an exaggeration, if you couldn't tell.
DiRT @ Nov 17th 2008 1:11PM
You guys operate in a whole new level of douchebaggery.
LiqwidZero @ Nov 17th 2008 1:17PM
No, we set this level a long time ago, we're just waiting for the new PS3 patch to hit so we can all go above and beyond that (you know, voice chat and stuff, and trophies).
SoxFan13 @ Nov 17th 2008 1:29PM
@Liqwid Zero-- Yeah, I caught that. I'm just responding to the comment, not the hyperbole.
Bass Masterson @ Nov 17th 2008 1:37PM
In reality, churches actually donate more money and the time of their members to humanitarian causes than any other entity on the planet. But of course realizing such a humbling truth doesn't let you play world-weary-cynic, does it?
Rocketboy @ Nov 17th 2008 2:24PM
Churches donate money that people give them. Not their own.
And last time I checked, the Vatican wasn't short on stacks of gold.
Bass Masterson @ Nov 17th 2008 2:42PM
... the money that people voluntarily give them. Seriously, take your self-important misanthropy and shove it right up your exhaust pipe. The average church member has done 10x more for humanity than you ever will, so get over yourself.
Rocketboy @ Nov 17th 2008 3:24PM
Yes, so people give the money to their church, and then the church gives to to someone else, taking the credit. The same think that your local supermarket does when you donate to a cause through them.
At least ShopCo does not claim you'll go to hell if you don't donate through them.
Besides, you don't know what the hell I've done in my life, so leave the judgment for someone that you know.
Hoot @ Nov 17th 2008 4:03PM
I don't think I've been to a church where I was told I was going to hell if I didn't give.
...but that's just me.
There are some serious bastards in the church world. But be mindful that there are also some amazing people as well.
Anam @ Nov 17th 2008 3:46PM
The way I figure it, you can give to a respectable charity where your money goes to a cause, minus a certain amount to fund the work the charity does.
Or you can give to a church where your money goes to a cause, minus a certain amount to fund the work the church does, minus another amount to spread the word of Jesus, minus another amount to fund creationists, minus another amount to pay for big fucking buildings... because it's impossible to help starving children if you don't have a big fucking building.
AoE @ Nov 17th 2008 10:26PM
@Bass Masterson,
Did you pull those stats from somewhere other than your ass? If so, I'd really like to see the source. Volunteerism etc., assuming you've ever taken the time to read about such things, is generally done far more commonly by Atheist hands than it is by Christian... at least by all accounts I've ever read. Plus, you guys tend to... how should I say it? Help with strings attached. How many times have you been involved in volunteerism with your church (I assume you've done a whole hell of a lot since you've apparently done 10x more than the rest of us) that didn't involve coercing the people you're "helping" at some point to listen to some sales pitch about your religion? Atheists... you know, we help people because it's the right thing to do, and we don't ask for anything in return, not even to bend their ear about a sweet new religion we can get them into for cheap.
Ramifications @ Nov 18th 2008 1:05PM
It's amazing how our society preaches acceptance and tolerance and yet when it comes to Christians, they are regularly ridiculed and mocked.
If the same things were said about muslims, they would be labeled intolerant and hateful! Yet, say it about Christians and you get a +1 and a pat on the back!
Obie @ Nov 17th 2008 12:42PM
What was the South Park episode where they ripped off popular songs, replaced "baby" with "Jesus" and became a hit Christian band?
Dirty @ Nov 17th 2008 12:57PM
Faith +1. Copa just referenced above you.
Evndude @ Nov 17th 2008 2:42PM
Christian Rock Hard
One of my favorite episodes. :)
Shagittarius @ Nov 17th 2008 12:44PM
But do you have to play them on those secular guitars that came with the devil's games?
Shagittarius @ Nov 17th 2008 12:48PM
Just watched the trailer, thank god it comes with a proper christian controller.
LiqwidZero @ Nov 17th 2008 12:54PM
That doesn't make up for the fact that the music sucks.
Dirty @ Nov 17th 2008 12:57PM
What would Jesus Play?
LiqwidZero @ Nov 17th 2008 1:04PM
Jesus would play the banjo. Definitely the banjo.
comtar @ Nov 17th 2008 12:49PM
So if you lose in the game, does that mean you don't have enough faith and praise for Jesus?
Shagittarius @ Nov 17th 2008 12:51PM
The power of Christ compels you....to buy this game.
Tiggle @ Nov 17th 2008 1:45PM
actually, I'm pretty sure it means you're banned from all Youth Group Pizza Parties, Lock-ins, Fifth Quarter Fellowships, and, the always exciting, Halloween Scare-Tactic: The Trail of Decisions.
or, possibly, heaven.
Alex @ Nov 17th 2008 12:46PM
I really don't understand this, I mean as a christian I think having christian entertainment out there is great for those who want it as a consumer, but I really think their money would be better spent trying to get more tracks into games like rock band or guitar hero, I mean where is the POD, Switchfoot, Relient K etc. in those games, bands that are christian, but their music isn't necessarly chrisitan. They certainly aren't my cups of tea musically speaking, but seriously, they'd be much better suited trying to get in popular games. I know there have been some limited entries into Rock Band with Flyleaf and Kutless, but there are plenty more "neutral-safe" christian bands out there that should be interested in this. At the very least show people that there is some talented musicanship to be found by christian bands. This game is just "preaching to the choir" in my own opinion, and the whole point of christianty is reaching out to those who aren't.
Paul Nicholson @ Nov 17th 2008 1:10PM
Actually, i think Kutless (a Christian band) did just get a cut included in the free 20 song DLC for Rock Band 2.
I think they probably want to be doing both. Get their tunes in RB and GH for sure, but there are many parents out there that don't want their kids listening to lyrics that are in some tunes for RB/GH and this gives them an alternative. They just need to pick Christian rock songs that don't suck (yes, they do exist).
Simple @ Nov 17th 2008 1:19PM
Probably has a lot to do with the fact that POD, Flyleaf, Kutless and Switchfoot are all generally pretty awful bands.
The "christian" charts exist to provide exposure to bands that would never make it on the mainstream counterparts by virtue of not being good enough. This is why this music is in "guitar praise" and not "guitar hero".
Really.. I doubt I'm the only one who groans in annoyance when "I'm So Sick" wriggles it's way into a mystery set on Rock Band.
Tiggle @ Nov 17th 2008 1:41PM
Music is void of a soul. It cannot be Christian.
brandon_r87 @ Nov 17th 2008 4:39PM
Exactly right. Unfortunately, American Christianity has a very isolated and secluded culture. This is probably the most blatant example I've seen. If Christians only interact with other Christians, how do we show and tell about Christ's love with those who don't know Christ?
Also, I see the opposite as well. The problem I have with "neutral safe" bands you're talking about is that some aren't using their talents to praise God. That doesn't mean I have anything against secular music, most of my collection is, but are they living in the world by bending their message to do better in a secular industry? I'm just pointing out that it goes both ways. Outside the music industry, the example is that many Christians live in the world, not necessarily even "of" the world, but they aren't telling people about Christ's love.
Also, not condemning the game at all. It can be good for some people, but it does show how isolated Christian culture can be.
_TMS @ Nov 18th 2008 12:03PM
Amen brother!
These guys who slam Christian music are clueless since they are ingrained into believing Christain music is inferior to all forms of music.
Lots of songs have crossed over into the mainstream. Jars of Clay, Flood, started the coffee house movement. dcTalk took the rap/rock to a whole new level.
Other bands of note Underoath, The Almost, Red, Day of Fire, Fireflight, Thousand Foot Krutch, Toby Mac easily fit into GH/RB and I would download them. My 8 year old daughter loves to sing but I dont let her sing any of the songs which have questionable content.
What about acts like Daughtry.
Maybe instead of slamming them, you try listening to them to give a more objective opinion than just spouting off about Christian music.
Omega2k3 @ Nov 19th 2008 12:14AM
BTW, GODS DONT EXIST LOLOLOLZ. COME BE AN ATHEIST LIEK ME OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I TEECH U ATHIESMS!!!11
Seriously, don't try to convert or convince people that your belief is the correct one. Your religion isn't about making other people part of it, it's about believing in a higher power of your choice. If I tried to convince everyone that being an atheist is the only correct path in life, people would think I was a total douchebag. Just like people think when someone tries to convert them/preach their religion.
Especially in a game where the main theme is rock music...
kjclock @ Nov 17th 2008 12:47PM
Nice rack on the model!
Uhhh, was that not a Godly thing to say?
Shagittarius @ Nov 17th 2008 12:50PM
I noticed that as well...she gave me a 5 minute footlong.
Mal F4cti0n @ Nov 17th 2008 6:08PM
Yeah. The girl with the blue shirt, right? What about the girl in the red shirt. Both pretty sexy.
I got kicked out of a "Search" meeting in Catholic school because a "nun" (not one wearing the gettup) was talking about teenage runaways who become prostitutes. I said, "Got any of their phone numbers?" They kicked me out of church for that.
Insidious @ Nov 17th 2008 12:56PM
Yeah, somehow I can't imagine a bunch of hot girls rocking out together in the living room like that to this game. Maybe in Rock Band. Hot girls like to drum and sing.
elle @ Nov 17th 2008 7:16PM
"I can't imagine a bunch of hot girls rocking out together in the living room like that to this game."
Christian sororities.

I've seen a lot of awesome in my time, but that... that's on a whole different level.
